Since I had my gutters installed the flashing flew off the roof and cut my daughter in the arm Missed my face, someone could have died, I am now going to sue This company they are like most companies who tries to get things done quick and forget about you. The installers forgot to screw the flashings down and that is why they flew off the roof. They came out and fixed immediately knowing someone got hurt lucky for the pics I took even while they came to fix the flashing my camera is proof also but they will try to get out of the mess good for the hospital bills.

In late February 2012 we had a LeafGuard(will be referred to as LG in the rest of this review) gutter system installed on our two-story home at a cost of over $ 7,700(for 130′ of rain gutters). I knew the LG gutters carry the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval, and the company who installs them in our area had a good BBB rating. Both of those aspects made me feel comfortable in choosing to have LG gutters installed on our home. Unfortunately, a good product is only as good as the installation, and here is where we ran into difficulty. Some damage became visible on the underneath side of the roof sheathing in May 2014. I hired a home inspection company to look at the problem. That person recommended roofing repairs. The roofer I hired informed us we had a large nest of carpenter ants living under the shingles because the moisture draining off the roof was wicking back up the underneath sides of the shingles in some areas where the shingles were(incorrectly) resting on top of the gutter covers allowing the OSB sheathing to become wet, thus attracting the carpenter ants as they feast on damp, rotting wood. We decided to have the old roof taken off in an effort to entirely eradicate the carpenter ant population, and the gutters needed to come off in order to install a new roof, and be re-installed after the new roof was finished. LG sent a representative to look at the problem, and they proposed they would take down and re-install the gutters at no charge, and install tar paper and flashing for all the edges where the gutters were installed. The rep did not feel an entire new roof was needed, and we did not ask LG to pay for a complete new roof; we were not willing to risk leaving carpenter ants under the remaining shingles, and we stayed with our decision to go with a new roof. We did ask LG, however, for a financial sum in lieu of the work they had proposed to do for us. They brought in their own roofer who stated the gutters had been installed«a little too high.» His estimate for the work LG had proposed to do for us was $ 300. The LG rep sent us an email on Sept. 2 stating they would be sending us $ 300. All this took all summer and we still did not have a new roof. Our new roof went on in October 2014, and LG was very quick to get the gutters off when our roofer wanted them off. In spite of pest control measures to kill the ants, when the old roof was removed, it was discovered we still had some live carpenter ants under the shingles. We were very relieved at our decision to spend the money to have a new roof put on instead of just patching up the edges as suggested by LG. LG was not so quick to get the gutters re-installed; it took more than two weeks to get the gutters re-installed. And, you guessed it – it rained and rained during that period of time – and we had no gutter protection at all. At the end of October we still had not received the promised $ 300, and I sent LG an inquiry via email. No response came until mid-November. Suddenly the offer was $ 5,108(we were never told the reason for this big increase), but in order to get that sum, we were informed we would be required to sign – and have notarized – a legal document agreeing to several objectionable stipulations: 1) We would have to give up our rights to any future claims; if the re-installation again caused us damage to our new roof – too bad for us. 2) We would have to pay THEIR legal fees. 3) There was a «keep your lips zipped clause» which would prevent us(or any of our heirs or anybody else connected to us) from EVER saying anything negative(verbally or online) about LG or their products. We declined to sign the legal document, and I asked them to send the originally offered $ 300 with no legal strings attached. In early January 2015 we still had not received the $ 300, and I informed them if we did not get the $ 300 very quickly I was going to file a complaint with the BBB. A check for $ 300 arrived the following week with a letter signed by the General Manager. The letter stated their investigation of our difficulties did not reflect that their gutter system was the cause of our problems(then why the«lips zipped» offer of $ 5,108?), and the enclosed $ 300 check was referred to as a «customer service gesture.» I keep thinking that for the amount of money we spent for a very expensive gutter system, followed by the expense of a new roof(hopefully now free of carpenter ants), and the expense of painters we still need to hire to paint the underneath side of the new sheathing, we could have paid a gutter-cleaning service to clean out our gutters once a year for the rest of our lives. Since there is no other company in our area who installs this product, my advice to people wanting this product is to consider your options very, very carefully; you might have as much difficulty reaching a resolution as we did.

I agree that LeafGuard is really bad with customer service. They didn’t do the job that I paid for. I called then numerous times to get the leaks fixed. They missed appointments several times in a row. Even the general manager wouldn’t return calls for customer complaints about missed appointments. I agree that people should avoid them at all costs.

Ed Schmel***, the salesman who came to our home as a representative of LeafGuard NW, promised me and my husband a full no questions asked money-back guarantee. For over an hour he promised us absolutely NORISK. He also promised us that when it’s time for us to get a new roof, they would come out and take down the gutter system and put it back up at no charge to us. He sat there and looked us in the eyes, sitting in our home on our sofa, and made promises that LeafGuard has no intention of honoring. He said if for ANY reason we don’t like the gutters, they’ll come right out and take them down and give us ALL our money back. He tried to charge us $ 20,000.00 for these gutters! We got him down to $ 16,000.00. Which I have since learned is completely outrageous. It looks like he just gets as much as he can get away with. The very same day they put them up I called to complain. They left a glue gun stuck to a bush in the backyard and all kinds of sharp pieces of metal strewn about. I have animals so this distressed me greatly. They could easily have been harmed. Then they installed two huge downspouts right in front of two picture windows! They completely destroyed the aesthetics of our home! We spoke with Ed and he promised to be there that Saturday with workers to move the downspouts. My husband works in LA and flew up that Saturday only to be stood up by Ed. The two workers were looking to ME for direction! Since they had no idea how to fix the problem, they left. We insisted that LeafGuard NW honor Ed’s promise of a full refund. They say they won’t. Ed denies ever having said those things! Well we are two very good witnesses against him so I have no doubt that eventually we WILL get our money back. With the help of a lawyer and a local news crew of course. But it gets worse. About a week later we noticed a long piece of sharp metal hanging off the roof in front of the living room window! I called to tell them to get it down asap, there are children in the neighborhood. This piece of metal could easily come down and hurt someone. They didn’t respond. We’ve gotten nothing but stalling tactics at their corporate headquarters in San Antonio, Texas.(Beldon). We have no choice but to litigate. I’ve filed numerous reports with the relevant agencies and I intend to warn as many people as I can about the criminal negligence and flat out deceit these people practice as a matter of course.(I have since found out Ed Schmel*** is also a collections agent with another company. That tells me all I need to know about his character.) Ed, you won’t get away with it. I promise you. LeafGuard NW, you need to honor the promises made by one of YOUR representatives. BUYERBEWARNED! These people are criminals.

Don’t do it! They send a salesman to your house who makes you feel like you are in some shady used car lot. The estimate was over $ 5,200! When I said no way! the guy pitched me regular gutters at $ 3,500. I was desperate so I signed the forms and have regretted it ever since. It took pulling teeth for weeks to get them to do the work. And now I am still calling them about the promotional $ 200 Visa gift card that I have still not gotten in the mail! And this nightmare started on 12÷17÷12. Shady as hell!!! Stay far away!

These guys are horrible. They offer a lifetime cleaning guarantee… but only for a limited set of issues. The gutters leak and overflow. Getting service has taken a dozen calls, blowing endless days waiting for crews to show up who then say they don’t have the equipment or the time, even though each time i repeat the needs and issues over and over. avoid them at all costs. Get simple gutters.

Do your homework: These guys are connected with Costco, so naturally I thought they would offer a reasonable price. They came out to do a free estimate. On the bright side, they suggested I just install gutters, but that I avoid the costly Leaf Guard tops, since the trees aren’t very close to my house. The bid, less the guards? $ 5006 before Costco discount, $ 4105 if I took a $ 400 discount as a Costco debit card. I had several other companies come out for bids. They ranged $ 1200-$ 3500. The LeafGuard prices are nothing short of insane. I wound up with Pacific Star Gutter Services who did a great job for $ 1500. Buyer beware.
