Excellent local business, willing to help in any way they can to get you what you need and impart some knowledge. Honest advice readily available for newcomers to the cycling world – like me! I went in on a Saturday to see if they had any used bikes. Peter had a few that were out of my price range, but taught me what to look for in a used bike(after I told him I was thinking that I’d get one off of Craigslist or at an estate sale and also had no idea what I’m doing) and what I should be prepared for maintenance wise. He put me on a list of customers looking for used bikes, with my phone number and price range. Who would’ve thought that not five days later he’d actually call me saying he just got four used bikes in that morning. One of them exactly matched what I was looking for – 90s Schwinn perfect for rides to the library. Peter cleaned it up a little, did a general check out, and deemed that the bike didn’t need any work at all to be ride ready. I loaded up on accessories(including an old basket he had lying around on another bike) and was out the door in less than an hour with my awesome new(to me) bike! I will definitely be going back for maintenance, repairs, and likely a fancy road bike when I’m ready. Thanks for an incredible first time bike purchase experience, Peter!

I’ve been to the Silver Spring location once, and the Kensington location twice. I’ve been satisfied with the outcomes. I have a clunky old commuter mountain bike that I lock up at the Glenmont Metro.(The previous bike was stolen one Christmas Eve there.) Obviously, I don’t want to put a lot of money in the bike, but it still needs to work. I’ve replaced really worn tires and a chain during my visits to Silver Cycles at reasonable prices. I could probably have done the work myself, but it would have taken a lot more time. Last visit to the Kensington location, I complained about my front derailer not working right. I mentioned that during the previous visit there, a Silver Cycles employee suggested that I may have to replace the cable since the front derailer had been adjusted several times and still did not always drop to the smallest front sprocket. This time, Sam immediately put it up on the bench mount, made several adjustments to both front and back derailers, and the bike has worked well since. He didn’t even charge me for this visit. Wow!(Not that I expect a no-charge visit again. I guess I should have tipped him. Now I remember that the Silver Spring location had a tip jar, which I put $ 5 in for replacing my chain.) Montgomery County needs to be a lot more friendly to bicyclists, but Silver Cycles certainly is taking the lead. I thank Silver Cycles for my good experiences there. Especially the last one.

I just wanted to say thank you to Richard and other staff members for being so patient with me this past Tuesday. I didn’t realize just how many tiny parts would go into a handlebar raising given all of the components to make up new longer cables and related hardware. I should have arrived earlier as I was running late to get back to work. I feel badly that I was rushing him during this complex transaction. Richard kindly assembled all of the parts and labeled them accordingly so that I wouldn’t get them mixed up during assembly. I also really appreciate his advice on the cable/cable housing cutters to do the job right. I found some and it was a snap to finish the job well on my son’s bike. He’s thrilled with the new handlebars and is looking forward to his scouting bike trip this weekend. It is a pleasure to do business with you guys and you make our local community an even better place.

Stopped in to get my broken chain replaced. Tom hooked me up for a reasonable price, and made sure to to test out my bike instead of just slapping a new chain on and letting me roll out. Found a screw missing from the derailer that was likely what led to my chain breaking. Good service. Finding the place was a bit off because its right where Connective Ave splits. I was going by the numbers on businesses around and thus wasn’t looking in the right place. It is right behind the Starbucks nearby, and is on the«back» of the small shopping center thats actually on University Blvd.
