I worked with Merrick on a master bath design. The goal was to expand the master bath and add a closet. They are a busy office and I felt we got lost in the shuffle. I worked with Peggy. Over 3 months, we met 4 times with Merrick and exchanged many emails. Our final meeting ended with an estimate that was 2X our agreed to budget. I have many design renderings. But I would have liked more attention to the budget.

Pamela Martin(You) reviewed in the last week Quality Excellent I can’t say enough about Merrick Design and Build. We interviewed three companies to renovate our kitchen. David Merrick was our first appointment. We knew at the beginning we wanted his company to do the work even after we interview reps and owner from the other two companies. The work on the kitchen started on April 18, 2013 and was anticipated to be completed by June 7, 2013. Today is May 10. Work is almost completed. At the beginning of the project, a half wall separating my kitchen table from the kitchen had to be removed. Originally, it was a poor design, as I had to walk around it to serve anything. All of this has been moved and will now be in a very nice sized island. We have been in this custom built home since 1994. It was time for a change. David’s project manager, Brian, stays on top of everything. The workers generally start at 8:00 am, Monday — Friday and stay until about 3:30. Later, if they have to complete something that day. Cleaning up the area after each work day. Brian placed a key entry lock like realtors use on the front door; so that I did not have to be present. Even as I may sleep late, they let themselves in. I feel very safe in them doing this as I trust them all. Rodrigo(I hope the spelling is correct) is very diligent. He was the one who dismantled the wall and did all of the framework/drywall for a new pantry in which he installed shelves. Renee, who has been the one to spackle and paint the walls does a great job. We even asked him to create a new desktop for a builtin in our den after informing Brian of our intention to do this. While all this was going on, men came to fill in the hardwood floor areas in which the original cabinets hid the fact that there was not a floor underneath them. That work was done very well and now we are going to replace the carpeting in the family room and den with hardwood flooring by the same company which David Merrick contracts to. I would also commend Addie for helping me pick out everything. We have been surviving the remodel by creating a kitchen in one of the upstairs bedrooms. I have a microwave, a Breville smart oven(excellent — just like a miniature oven), a Max Burton induction cooktop(great as well — I can cook anything on it from breakfast to dinner), toaster, mini fridge, and a cooler which is in the spare bathroom tub. I will continue to use Merrick Design and Build for any future renovations of our bathrooms. I highly recommend them and hope that if you need a great designer, as David designed our kitchen, would hire them as well. I will post photos once the projects have been completed.

While Merrick hasn’t yet begun the work(it should commence in June of 2013) we wanted to write a review of the design process that we began a year ago with Lindsay. Lindsay is, with all sincerity, the sweetest, most honest, and most professional person we’ve ever encountered in the home improvement realm. We cannot imagine working with anyone else. In fact, my wife and I were so compelled to work with her we decided it would be a waste of time to get additional bids. Lindsay has, over the course of the design process, taken every one of our unusual requests with patience and consistently found a way to make them work in order achieve the effect we’re after. There was no curve ball she didn’t crush and no email she didn’t respond to and absorb. We’ve been blown away at her ability to track and integrate every single one of our off-handed requests and rapid-fire emails. She oozes a level of competence and attention to detail you just don’t expect to encounter these days. We strongly encourage anyone looking to work with a design-build firm to begin and end their search with Lindsay @ Merrick
