Don’t be fooled by the«chandelier look» of Parkside Manor. Since Senior Lifestyle Corporation took over this community it has been on a downward slide. The 63 page report from the State of Wisconsin outlining serious deficiencies and violations regarding Parkside Manor speaks for itself. A revolving door of Executive Directors, caregivers, activities coordinators and RN’s with criminal arrest records, leave family members and residents feeling uneasy. Familiarity and continuity are paramount for the elderly while coping with dementia and Alzheimer’s. Most residents at Parkside Manor are very progressed in their disease and would be better cared for in a SNF instead of a CBRF. The majority of rooms are not private suites, but are shared. Which can lead to all types of unnecessary issues and situations. Such as physical and verbal assaults as well as missing personal items. Residents often do not receive adequate cueing and reminders for daily cares and hygiene. CNA’s and caregivers alike are short staffed, particularly on 3rd shift with many experiencing«caregiver burnout». Senior living has become a multi-million dollar business and Senior Lifestyle Corporation is no exception. Focused primarily on profitability, employees are pressured to keep beds full and admit residents whose care needs cannot be adequately provided. Large corporations like Senior Lifestyle know that most potential residents and their family members are looking for a community that is clean, has a warm and inviting feeling of home, has a lovely décor and has good food. The employees and administrators at Parkside Manor are trained to make sure that is exactly what you find when you tour. There is so much more beneath the surface you don’t see — all the things the friendly sales person won’t tell you. I’m grateful my loved one was able to survive the inadequate care that was received from Parkside Manor and healthy enough to move forward into a community that truly cares about the fragile human lives that are entrusted to their care.
