What a great find! Even sat on the porch and had drinks and dinner with 2 other couples! Great good, great location in a restored old house near the square!

Moved to Kennesaw this past spring of 2015 and searched for a great Mexican restaurant. First stop was El Taco Azteca and now I have to go at least twice a month! Now, I’ll say it up front, not everything about this place is perfect. Don’t eat on the porch, flies, bees, etc. Inside is a bit crowded, but this used to be a house so it’s okay. Also never go on karaōke night, the Latin girls who do the karaōke are terrible singers and if no one is doing karaōke they treat it like it’s their own personal concert and they sound like dying cats. We only order one thing, Chicken Fajitas for 2. Amazing! Huge sizzling skillet piled with chicken and all the veggies. Never a disappointment. Drinks, I always get the jumbo Texas margarita and it ALWAYS is perfect. The total after tip is under $ 40(and that’s usually after 2 jumbo margaritas!) We love this place!

YES, HONEY, YES! So my hubby and I decided that we would walk to lunch from the Civil War Museum because we were told that eating options were close and we didn’t really want to move the car. So we start out walking and decide to use Unilocal to explore some options. This place was one of the options and I inquired of the couple dining on the porch, «Is it good? and they said yes and gave me two thumbs up, so in we went. This restaurant is located in an older home that has been re-purposed. When we walked in, we went straight to the back where there is a bar to the left and seating to the right. We were warmly greeted and directed to sit where we wanted to sit. The seating was very comfortable and elevated and for those women with an ample bosom, there is plenty of room. No problems at all. Our waiter was very nice, in an authentic way,(not« Unilocal nice» where they watch you eat and are overly effusive and enthusiastic). He was just pleasant and attentive and appropriate in his interaction with us. Chips and salsa were delivered almost immediately and while I don’t normally eat the chips, these were exceptional. They were warm, light and had virtually no salt on them. The salsa was very fresh with little salt and a hint of cilantro. Delicious! The water was fresh and clean. I ordered the Mexicana Burrito which is stuffed with chicken, peppers, onion, lettuce and avocado. It is glazed with a red and green sauce and queso. I held the green sauce for fear it might be too spicy. My entrée came with a side of rice. My husband ordered a combo which was a chicken burrito, a chicken taco and beans and rice. He was really hungry! Our food arrived hot and as ordered. It was the best Mexican food we have had in a very long time. Everything was perfectly executed and perfectly seasoned, not greasy or salty. It was exactly what food should be: simple, clean and unpretentious. We were more than happy with our meal! My only problem was not being able to finish it all because it was so big, that it was the width of my plate. My husband was determined to take it all in and he did. Crazy guy! I have to take my hat off to that queso. It was the real deal. It began and ended with cheese. I can’t ever remember walking into a Mexican restaurant and ordering queso, however in this restaurant I would because it was a cut above. This sauce was the right color, thickness and texture. It was smooth, rich and delicious and not at all what is usually passed off as queso. This sauce is a winner! My husband and I were so glad that we had walked over from the museum because this meal was so worth it. We now have a new restaurant to add to our«favorites» list. Highly Recommended!

Food and service are great. Front porch is a big plus. Good drinks. Cold air inside. Service with a smile. We always love stopping here whether for much or for dinner.

We have been multiple times and once considered this one of our favorites. Food is pretty good. Except service has gone to hell. After seating my family on the porch we didn’t get service for 10 minutes. No menu, drinks or chips. As I looked around many tables were also not receiving service. I never do this but we got up and left. Many other customers seemed to have the same idea.

This used to be a good restaurant. Not so much anymore. Just two weeks ago we were allowed to use our vapors on the patio, which was separated into two sections. I am here right now and was told I cannot vape. Ok, no problem. Now where is my waitress who rushed us into ordering, we all ordered the same thing just to make it easy. I asked for utensils when my food arrived, the waitress got my utensils but took another tables order while holding them, before bringing my utensils to my cold food. We wanted to order another pitcher but we haven’t seen her in over twenty mintutes. We have no more to drink and are just waiting for her to come back to our table. Our food has already been cleared. Never coming here again. Still waiting. I signed up for Unilocal just to leave this review.

I absolutely love El Taco Azteca. I have been a loyal customer for about a year now. The food selection is better than other local Mexican places, and the specials are a great value. I love all pf their taco options! And the refried beans never disappoint. I highly recommend this place. I’m there at least once a week, so its gotta be good :)

One of our favorites after multiple visits. From drinks on the porch in the summer to their meals — very well done. Very enjoyable. If you do not try them you are missing a good Mexican experience. And my wife and daughter(12) agree!

Saw this place while taking a wrong turn driving to another restaurant and it looked intriguing even if the Unilocal ratings aren’t that high. Easy parking. Arriving shortly after 11:30 on a Wednesday, I find the business mostly empty — only one booth occupied. A couple of other parties came in while I was there, so it seems that the lunch rush is small or much later than I imagine. I took a booth and enjoyed an unspectacular view out the back of the restaurant, although there was the spectacle of a tough-looking kitty prowling around looking like it wanted to beat up someone or something. Along with the room I was in, which included the bar at one end, they had another and also a large semi-enclosed patio. Lots of space. Maybe more than I saw. Polite, quick service throughout. I was here for tacos but they have all the standards. No website menu that I could find. But first, the obligatory basket of chips and salsa appeared almost immediately. The salsa. Wonderful. Just the right amount of flavor to picante. Good chips, too. You don’t get a lot of salsa so if you’re not solo, best ask for more, I think. Asada, barbacoa, chorizo tacos all excellent. They are large enough that three will fill most people up without the need for rice & beans on the side, which don’t come with the taco trio. Each taco comprised mostly meat — no rabbit food filler here. Tortillas seemed freshly made although I probably can’t discern the difference. Unlike the salsa roja, the salsa verde that comes with the tacos disappoints. Not much flavor, I thought. But the tacos really didn’t need anything else(I still dumped roja and verde on them because that’s what I do). I think this is a fine lunch spot and I’m going to drag my co-workers here if I can peel them away from their computers to eat lunch.

It was just ok both times I have been there. The server was very forgetful and was not very attentive. He was bringing our check when we were both wanting another drink. The floor was also very dirty like a group of toddlers had just left. I get it people are messy, but can we get a broom? I will even help so I dont end up with a tostada chip poking my toes through my sandal. The food was ordinary for an American Mexican restaurant.

Not your typical Mexican food… Very delicious! My husband says it’s the best chorizo around. I love how fresh everything taste! If you like guacamole this is some of my favorite. Great service. Our favorite server is Alberto, ask for him he will take excellent care of you!

I must have gone to the wrong place. I stopped in here on a whim while running errands, based on the Unilocal reviews. Nice, big patio– but I don’t do outside dining. I don’t like bugs, and wasps, and things bothering me while I’m trying to eat. I find a spot inside. Nice enough. Old house turned restaurant. Nice server. Told him I couldn’t decide between the highly recommended steak burrito and the«one of everything». Asked him which he preferred, and he said, «it’s up to you». No ish, Sherlock. Really? I chose the steak burrito. It wasn’t «covered» in delicious queso, more like had some spooned over the top. The steak was ok, but the veggies and the steak had nothing inside to hold them together. When I bit or cut, it just all fell out. The wrap was doughy. Salsa for the free chips is GREAT, though. They should bottle that and sell it. Mmmm! VERY spicy, the way I like it. The Pina Colada? Ok. Not what I was expecting for $ 7.99. Small glass, watery. It was ok, I guess. If you like beer, they seem to have some really good beer specials on certain days. This just wasn’t a pleasant visit, and it cost me $ 22! What a waste. I won’t be back.

Well people this place may not have a great appearance. But what it lacks in curb appeal it more than makes up for in food. Starting with the salsa. Some if the best I’ve had. Bad thing is they don’t give you enough. I could eat that stuff by the spoonful. We sat outside it was pretty nice out. We got our drinks and cheese dip. Was very good. Then out came the steak burrito. The steak was so tender and full of flavor. I am still thinking of it 24 hours later. I don’t care how the places looks on the outside if they keep serving food this good.

2.5 stars Red salsa was really good and went will with chips Went during lunch and got 3 tacos, Asada, chorizo, and apastor which were better than I expected. Chorizo was my least favorite and I enjoyed the Asada the most. $ 11 for 3 tacos and a $ 1 beer… I prefer my tacos being less than $ 3 each. Sure, I will check this place out again

Very good Mexican food in Kennesaw. From the chips to the entrées, El Taco Azteca, does a satisfying job. I ordered the steak burrito, which was very tasty and smothered in delicious queso. My only complaint is that our waiter didn’t ask how I wanted my steak cooked, which can be a sign of mediocrity and pre-grilled food, but everything was fine. The pork burrito was where it’s at though! The pork was incredibly tasty, tender, and juicy. Holding the spices excellently, I will defiantly be back again just to try it. I definatly recomend this place as a nice hang out spot in Kennesaw.

3.75 stars. C’mon folks. There are so many 5 star reviews for this place. Reality police aqui. 5 stars for El Taco Azteca? Seriously? Among the best Mexican food experiences you’ve ever had? Evaah??? The margs musta taken effect! To prove I am not a hater, just a realist… Ok, the place is cute. An old house with a great outside porch, perfect for al fresco dining. An eclectic, chopped up interior with cool, separate little dining rooms, ala your abuela’s old homestead. Food is good, not unbelievable as some suggest. Salsa is home made, chile relleno is cheesy goodness. Arguably the best Mexican place in the area, but 5 stars??? Check out the baños. Or don’t, if you are concerned about cleanliness. The baño for hombres is perhaps the dustiest I’ve ever(yes, ever) seen, with a unbelievable gray haze over the sunny mirror fixture’s sun rays(go take a peek) and caked on dust bunnies covering the vent fan over your head. EEEEuuuuww! That alone made me wonder what the cucina looked like. 5 stars? Service is indeed good, but paper napkins are indicative of a 3 –4 star place, and steel mesh tables and chairs on the porch are less than super-comfy, not deserving of 5 stars. The restaurant’s address and location displayed on iPhone maps(and other map programs, too) can be misleading, so be prepared for some adventurous searching if you’ve never been here before. Kinda on Lewis, just off Main. So ETAMG is a nice 3.75 star choice for Mexican in little old Kennesaw — and that’s generous. I do find El Taco slightly better than my 3.5 star reviewed El Nopalito. For perspective even classy La Costa Mission, in my own backyard of Malibu, CA gets only 4 stars, , and La Costa Mission has wonderful ambiance, a world class chef, and truly outstanding and creative Mexican fare. Just putting things into perspective. Sólo guardo real.

From the outside, it looks like another old house transformed into a restaurant. It’s just a block or two off of old Highway 41, with a nice deck for relaxing or hanging out with friends. I recently returned to the Kennesaw area from Austin, Texas. But south Texas has nnothing on this restaurant. I’ve tried Mexican restaurants all over Atlanta. This is the best! Everything on the menu is good and there are not many cliché items. Try the grouper tacos, the top shelf margaritas, or especially the guacamole. If you’re looking for exceptional in Mexican food don’t neglect to stop in here…

I can’t believe I was just«in the neighborhood» but I was. They had a bucket of beer special that came out to $ 2.50/bottle!!! OMG, I was in love!!! Then I had a snack. The guacamole is fantastic. Definitely have this on a warm day… or any day; it was cold the day I was there but I felt like I was in Acapulco with the Dos Equis and guacamole! Then the closer; fajita nachos. Again, great! I may find a reason to be back«in the neighborhood», which given this place is 45 minute drive means something!
