These people take forever to just do something. We thought my brother broke his thumb, turn out he sprained it and it took them about 3 hours to just find out

This is our first year on a high-​deductible plan. Since you pay for nearly everything out of pocket, you have to shop around. So when our son hurt his arm at school, I called a couple of Urgent Care facilities in the Woodstock area and for him to see a doctor, have a couple of x-​rays and get a splint (if needed) the prices I was quoted over the phone for self-​pay ranged from $ 135-​$ 230. Since we had taken him to Children’s when he was younger, I also called them.
THIS IS WHERE THEY GET YOU. I was told we would pay $ 75 up front for him to be seen, but «I can’t tell you how much the visit will cost since we now do all of our billing through a third party. But if you pay your bill in full within 10 days you receive a 48% discount off the total.» What a GREAT SCAM!
So compared to other quotes, we’re thinking AT MOST we would be charged $ 400-​$ 500 and pay it off within 10 days for a total of $ 200 – 250. WRONG… I just received the bill today and to see a doctor, have 3 x-​rays of his arm and put his arm in a splint we were charged an incredible $ 1,273! While I’m happy with the quality of care he received, it was so overpriced that I CAN’T RECOMMEND anyone visit this place for more than a sore throat or fever.
This facility is undergoing an extensive remodeling… Now I know I’m one of the suckers who is paying for it. AVOID… Unless you’re filthy, stinking rich!
6÷1÷2015 UPDATE — Took my son to an Orthopedist for follow-​up care for his fracture today… SURPRISE! There is no fracture! He reviewed the 3 previous x-​rays and said, «there is no break… there is no fracture.» So this Children’s doctor misdiagnosed his condition and we were charged $ 922 (procedure code 25 600) for a splint he didn’t need and another $ 96 for today’s doctor trip that was also unnecessary. Obviously I’ll never return here with any of our kids. They can’t tell a sprain from a fracture and they charge you DEARLY for their incompetence!

We’ve headed here a couple of times and have been in and out in a flash. They treat you calm kindness (which you need when you’re desperately trying to fake calmness yourself as you watch your four year old bleed from the eye because she cut her lid open doing her impression of high rope flying wrestler jump and where the heck is your husband so you can have a breakdown)
Here’s a little helpful secret: Call ahead and get your name on the waiting list. It gets you on their list so you spend less time in the waiting room with kids that have god knows what or other overprotective parents looking at you wondering what kind of parent would let that happen.
