Wish I would’ve read the reviews on this place before eating here, or at least got a PO’ Boy. You can’t mess those up too badly. We got the Louisiana Sampler. Wow. Everything tasted exactly the same – bland. Red beans and rice, potato salad, shrimp gumbo and another rice of some sort that was supposed to pass for jambalaya. Everything tasted exactly like it was made out of the box, literally and figuratively. We ordered a Hurricane. That was mistake #2. It was $ 12.95 of all sweetness and barely any liquor. The server was at least nice and did well. We won’t be coming here again, though. $ 28 that wasn’t well spent. Addendum: asked for a to-go cup for our watered down drink so we could take it on our flight and spike it, our server told us they don’t give out to-go cups…

Okay airport food. Good price. Good service. But watch out for the alcohol. Very expensive… more expensive than the food.

Prices were cheap, 6.99 for breakfast but 11% state tax? Yikes! They use a microwave — a culinary NO-NO. And the food looked and tasted like it came out of the freezer isle.

If I could select 1 star, then I would. I’m from Louisiana and the shrimp gumbo is crap. I found one small shrimp and mostly sausage: I should have checked help before I went. The draft beer was $ 9. Wow skip this

Yikes, the reviews are pretty accurate. The live music bumped them a star. But while the prices at the outset seem reasonable, the portion sizes are pretty small. Shrimp and grits is the tiniest little shrimp that I’ve only seen used in shrimp salad. The gumbo was sausage heavy and the drinks are pretty expensive. That said, the flavors are ok but not great. Wished I had eaten at subway which still had the benefit of the live music!

This place is a disgrace to jambalaya all over the world. I understand that this establishment is located inside of an airport but they are suppose to be representing New Orleans’ amazing and authentic dishes such as po-boys, jambalaya, and red beans and rice. They scooped out the jambalaya with an ice cream scooper look alike and the cook put dirty receipts on top of the food while waiting for the waiter to bring it to our table. The waitress was extremely sarcastic and looked like she hated her job. Zatarains should care more about their reputation.

I had some time to kill at the airport and decided to get breakfast here. I choose poorly. I ordered the scrambled egg po-boy. Both the bread and eggs were flavorless. The bacon was inedible. How can you mess up bacon?!? The saving grace was the grits. I did enjoy those.

Ate here before a flight. Service took a while to get started but then we got our food in no time. I had a roast beef poboy which was surprisingly good. Not great, this is airport food after all, but good. I do wish the airport had more options in the SWA area.

I grabbed lunch before my flight on Superbowl Sunday. I ordered Red Beans and Rice. It was horrible!!! The worst red beans and rice I’ve ever had. It tasted like they dumped a cup of vinegar in it. The sausage was pretty good.

After wrapping up our Christmas holiday tour in Louisiana, we arrived in the New Orleans airport wanting to have one last snack before we departed for Nashville on Christmas Day. Alas, our snack was thwarted at every turn at Zatarin’s. I understand that it was Christmas and was happy that someplace was open; however, the smoothie station across the way would have been a better choice but all the neat decorating, overall aesthetically pleasing design, and tables of people drinking mimosas beckoned me to this tourist trap. We wanted to get some mimosas but they were out of champagne — we wanted shrimp and grits but they were out of that too. We settled on some inferior breakfast sandwiches and inferior cocktails — oh, smoothie station, forgive us for not going to you and adding some spirits from the bar. The only reason this place gets two stars is that our server was quite friendly and apologetic for not being able to fulfill our desires.

For airport food, you can do a LOT worse. There aren’t many sit down options at the New Orleans airport right now — most everything is «under construction», so Zatarains it was. Don’t expect anything to be freshly made for you — there’s about 5 – 6 choices and it all comes out of a steam table. Don’t expect attentive service, as this place is a crowded hot mess. You can’t expect too much from the people who make boxed rice, right? I had red beans and rice and a soda and was pleasantly surprised that(with tip) it was about $ 15. That’s a veritable bargain at an airport. My food wasn’t bad either — it was a lot of food and served with a big piece of sausage(that’s what she said). It’s not Galatoire’s but you can do much worse.

For airport food, this place really isn’t all that bad. I saw that this restaurant had 1.5 stars, but I was starving at MSY airport, and nothing else at the airport looked promising. I had eaten some damn good food while in NOLA, and I just wanted something to hold me over as I traveled back to SF. We got the sampler and a side of potato salad, and we were served within 6 or 7 minutes. The Sampler was a trio of jambalaya, gumbo, and red beans and rice for $ 10. The portions were pretty generous, and the food came hot and fresh. Jambalaya and gumbo were not bad — not great, but not bad, at all. The red beans and rice were actually really good. The potato salad was great! Tangy creole mustard with really well cooked potatoes, egg, and yummy dressing. We paid $ 16 total with tip, and we were pleasantly surprised for the quality we got for the price.

Airport food is hardly ever great. Zatarains at MSY was no exception. The eggs are not real. The biscuit wasn’t warm or very good. The sausage was decent. The grits were the best part of the meal other than the price at $ 6.99… an incredible value for airport pricing. Our server was nice, too.

Waited 10 min to place order and that was after I waved across room at manager. Despite having only 5 choices on breakfast menu they had no more grits and they werent serving breakfast yet. Lunch was in 15 minutes so I asked to wait until lunch was served(1030am). After 15 min of trying to get a server(any servers at all) attention I was finally brought a lunch menu. Many more choices for lunch so decided on PoBoys, Waitress returned asked me for my order then said hold on I dont think we have much for lunch let me check. She returned to saw they only have jambalaya, dirty rice and beans! Thats it!!! I left after spending nearlty 45 minutes in here with nothing to eat! This is obviously a poorly run establishment. Save your self some grief and time and pick up a smoothie instead at New Orleans Airport.
