Located in the heart of Kennebunkport in Dock Square another place for good fish tacos & so much more. I requested my fish taco seared, not fried which our server happily obliged. They are very tasty with cilantro, jalapeño apple slaw & sriracha aioli. There are two in a serving. The only comment I would have is there is a bit too much slaw but I just scraped it off and ate it with a fork. No biggie. I also had 2, yes 2 bloody mary’s because they are so good one just was not enough. I love my bloody’s and this was one of the best I’ve had. Spicy, but not too spicy. My silly mom decided to have breakfast for lunch. She got Erin’s Wild Maine Blueberry Pancakes with lemon curd. I, of course, had to have a bite so I could report back to you all! Big, fluffy, tasty, lemony, blueberry, fresh. I could go on. Very, very good. She actually almost finished the hubcap sized pancakes & she never eats that much. Once you started, you could not stop eating them. My sis got the haddock sandwich. She is incredibly picky when it comes to haddock sandwiches and she loved it. I did not get approval to steal a bite so I cannot say from first hand experience, but the fact that she did not speak while eating & cleaned the plate attested to its yumminess! :) Our 4th dining companion also got the fish tacos but she opted for the fried version and also cleaned her plate. She ordered a glass of wine but after I raved about the bloody, she took a sip & immediately ordered one. If I had to say one thing, I would say the menu would be the only hiccup for us. They put all meals on a one page sheet. It’s no big deal for the breakfast/lunch because you can order both at lunch, however, the dinner section is not separated and if you did not see the small«dinner» above the entrees you would not really distinguish the difference. Therefore, we see fried pickles in the dinner section but did not realize right away that we were looking at the dinner section. When we did realize, I said we can probably order them anyway but when we asked if we could have them even though it’s lunch we were denied. Not sure why??? I’m sure they had pickles on hand & they were obviously frying things up. No biggie but I think they should have fulfilled our request. The chef did come over at the end just to check in, which is always a nice touch. I could have said something about the pickles but it really was not important enough to complain about so we all let it go. It’s a very small place with a handful of tables, I would not attempt to go during the summer but it’s great for a winter lunch.

If you have an entire day to while away, Salt and Honey is definitely the place for you! Bring along a copy of WARANDPEACE. You will have more than enough time to finish the book while waiting for your(mediocre at best) meal to be served. It’s my guess that the authors of glowing reviews don’t get out very much. Do yourself a favor and avoid SALTANDHONEY at all costs!

Such a great breakfast burrito! What’s cool little place with and interesting menu. Only stopped in for breakfast and regret missing out on Lunch and dinner. Nice to be able to get a mimosa with breakfast.

Super cute breakfast spot. The pancakes were about the size of my head but really delicious– definitely consider sharing these. Friendly, quick service and conveniently located. The breakfast menu is pretty small so I think that next time I’m in the area I’ll come back for lunch!

What a lovely find! We only regret that we didn’t eat all our Kennebunkport meals at Salt & Honey. We came for brunch and practically had the place to ourselves. The breakfast burrito was flavor perfection in my book, and the accompanying potatoes were spot on. The blueberry pancakes were tasty as well and chock full of blueberries. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted my last bite to be — it was all so delicious! The service was great — our waiter was friendly and attentive without hovering. We took our time enjoying our meal and the view from the window-filled dining room. After reading through the other reviews, we wish we’d returned to Salt & Honey for our Kennebunkport lobster roll. Do yourself a favor — make Salt & Honey your first stop. And your second!

Went here over the summer — very, very good. Brunch considered of a special Bloody Mary — and we noticed a great selection of beers as well. Food was insane — fries with multiple sauces– lavender mustard I believe– wow! Eggs and hash browns were super duper — bacon was huge. Chicken salad sandwich was the best I’ve ever had in my life. Place is run by a chef, makes sense — everything is excellent. Btw I live in Cali with great unique restaurants and this competes with the best.

The food was sort of whatever. After waiting a half hour for a table, we waited another hour for eggs and the owner was our server. The next time I’m back in town I would definitely try another breakfast spot. On the way out we grabbed smoothies at Moon Rose, and I’d say that’s the better bet.

Walked into this spartan spot in downtown Kennebunkport overlooking Ocean Avenue much less crowded than the other busy spots in the Dock Square area. When we arrived, there was only one other table with 4 diners. Our presence was acknowledged approximately 5 or more minutes after we sat down. Our order arrived approximately 20 minutes later. The lobster roll for $ 18 provided a very generous portion of lobster on a bun… it came with a very creative house salad in a small crock containing grapes, frisee lettuce, nuts & feta accented with a creative house dressing. I enjoyed the lump jonah crab toast that came with avocado, grapefruit, lemon pepper –honey drizzle. No doubt there is a creative talent in the kitchen. We returned to S&H the next day for lunch. Our other favorite lunch spot, Allison’s was too busy with a 20 minute wait for lunch. Once again S&H was relatively empty pointing out that it was probably relatively unknown located in an out of the way spot. Our service was much more prompt on the second visit and once again we enjoyed the wonderful lobster rolls. The clam chowder was also a winner. There’s one proviso regarding S&H. You need to climb stairs in order to get to the restaurant… wheelchairs and walkers will have to go elsewhere.

The food was meh, and that’s saying something considering we were very hungry after a long drive up from NYC. We ordered the short rib hash which was mushy and entirely flavorless except with a hint of bitterness(really weird) and afterwards my wife had an upset stomach from the dish. I had the crab toast which was acceptable though the mayo mix was a bit too sweet. The café looked cute the service was fine, but the food was a letdown.

Let’s get one thing out of the way: the chicken fingers for kids wasn’t very good. But said kid isn’t reviewing this place, so… Everything else was absolutely fantastic. The lobster roll was, in my wife’s words, «the best lobster roll I’ve ever eaten». My mimosa(with rose) was incredible, and my huevos rancheros were unbelievable. I don’t know what it was — my hunch is maybe the pureed beans and something else — but the overall dish was just indescribable. Who would have thought, huevos rancheros? Everything else about Salt and Honey was fine — staff was cool, the beer selection looked solid, and the overall menu was really interesting. But based on our order alone, I would trek back to Kennebunkport for a repeat. I can’t recommend this gem enough.

What a great dining experience. It’s a small café/bar style with a small staff and selective menu. Everything was delicious for dinner. The ahi tuna was mixed with the freshest vegetables and interesting flavor combinations. The lobster sauté was very good in an interesting sause with sausage and fresh vegetables as well; it was also delicious. They offer local beers and soft drinks which are all fantastic and really none of it broke the bank. The appetizers soubded great but I did not order any although the french fries looked and smelled very good from a nearby table. There was great ambiance with music popular alternative music playing lightly. I can’t wait to go back and try the breakfast and brunch menu.

Saw the good reviews on Unilocal so we checked it out for lunch. The place is cozy and nicely decorated. It wasn’t too busy at the time so the front of the house staff didn’t seem to have their«A game» on: the most desirable window tables weren’t kept clean and when we asked if we could sit there, same with the couple after U.S., there was a slight but noticeable sigh from the staff. The definite bright spot was the food! I had one of the best lobster rolls I’ve ever had: just the right touch of mayo. My wife had the burger and she LOVED the side salad that came with it. She also ate mine as I am not a goat cheese lover and it was prominent. She had the burger which she enjoyed and we shared the fries which were very good. They’re a little«nickel and dimey» by charging an extra $ 0.75 for another dipping sauce flavor. The food deserves 5 stars! Definitely worth checking out.

This tiny, comfortable space exists on the second floor of a mini shopping plaza tucked away in a corner of downtown Kennebunkport. The intimacy lends itself well to the dining experience, with some nice views of the shopping district and busy streets below. We had dinner here with another couple and started off with a couple of apps to share. If you come to this place, ordering the fish taco app is a must. I’ve only been to California twice and never had any out there, but it’s hard to imagine they could get better. The firm, light breading coated the flaky, delicious fish, which itself was coated with a delicious sauce and topped with the usual(slaw, etc) adornments. I probably could have ordered two of these plates as my entrée and walked out happy.(The second app, the chicken quesadilla was tasty but completely overshadowed.) The drink menu and beer list were small yet impressive, with tap offerings from several regional breweries, some well known as others more obscure. An Imperial Cherry Stout(I forget which brewery, apologies) was a bold but impressive choice, at about 12.5%, with some very complex flavors. We shared that amongst the table while everyone got his/her own more quaffable elixir to go with dinner. My dinner was a lobster succotash that was light yet fulfilling, with a perfectly sautéed vegetable mix amongst the tender, generous chunk of lobster meat. My wife’s short ribs were very memorable, with some exceptional flavor. It’s not quite what I would call a 5-star dining experience, but there was nothing to complain about at all. I should add that the service was also great, and the pricing was fair.

My girlfriend and I sat at the bar this past Saturday morning and took in a delicious breakfast at Salt & Honey. As I work for a hotel/restaurant group, I can’t help but opine on how overstaffed and inefficient the setup is. I mean there was probably 7 waitresses/hostesses for a space that could have been staffed by 3, max 4. They were all super nice, so I am not complaining… just saying if I owned the business I would take a closer look. The food, atmosphere, and friendliness of the staff added up to a great breakfast. I would particularly recommend the french toast with a mimosa(which they don’t skimp on). If I lived in Kennebunkport, I could see myself having breakfast here at least once a week. Definitely worth a try if you have some time to carve out breakfast while in town.

This place does American traditional right. Period. My wife and I were visiting from Orange County, CA and while traditional Maine seafood fare is always welcome with us, we wanted to mix it up. I had the fish and chips. The dish was stellar. Instead of thick chunks, the fish was prepared as a lightly breaded, thinner, full fillet served over fries that I can only describe as In and Out fries but cut thicker. My wife had the short ribs served over a bed of whipped mashed potatoes with mushrooms, peas and corn. The short ribs were perfectly cooked — you could’ve eaten them with a spoon. I’d also like to point out that the jalapeño apple slaw is not just a ramekin of filler that makes the plate look full, it’s legitimately great! Salt and Honey is a must visit if you’re headed to Southern Maine.

This place is super yum! There was a group if 8 of us(including 4 kids) and we were seated really quickly. It was close to lunch time but we chose to go for breakfast items, pancakes for the children, eggs for three adults and one short rib hash. The menu was not extensive but what they do is excellent. The food came out quickly and was delicious, eggs cooked to perfection and served with potato wedges. The hot chocolate was yummy and all plates were totally clear by the end if the meal. Staff were super friendly and were really accommodating with the kids! We also met the Chef and he was really charismatic and unassuming, he obviously knows his craft!

We stumbled upon this little place thanks to a Google search for breakfast as we passed through Kennebunkport. It is tucked away on the second floor of a large building housing other businesses. It’s a simple and small restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Our only issue was the wait for our food after placing our order was very long. The food was worth the wait, however, once it finally arrived. One of the best breakfasts I have had in a long time. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and it was so delicious! The bread was grilled perfectly and tasted amazing with the egg and melted cheese. Home fries were offered on the side and they definitely lived up to my fried potato standards. This restaurant serves lunch and dinner as well and also has a bar area to gather for drinks. Definitely a place to return to next time I am in the area.

If you have not made it to Salt and Honey while in Kennebunkport, you are missing out! Breakfast or Dinner, it’s a home run. The food is amazing! Nikki was a great server, window seats have awesome view overlooking the shops in dock square. They now have outdoor seating and Funky Bow on tap, it’s going to be a place we visit frequently!
