I have been going to big apple pizza for years. Have always been happy with the food. I work in Kenilworth and am in contact with the public all day long. Whenever anyone of my customers asks where to get good delivery I have always recommended big apple. After tonight… Never again! Ordered a personal pizza and a calzone with eggplant. When I got the order and cut open the calzone the cheese was not melted and the eggplant ice cold. Called them and they delivered another one. Cut this one open same thing… Literally ice cold. Assistant manager got on the phone. He was combative, angry and unreasonable. I told him I was calling just so they could correct the problem for the future and I would put this one in my oven. His response was«maybe you shouldn’t order anything in your calzone». Really… That’s your solution. Trust me… I never will again. This guy really needs to have some training in customer relations. Such a shame…

It’s my own fault for not ordering a pizza. I got a grilled vegetable wrap, which came with a salad. It was very filling but the vegetables were oily and greasy. It practically leaked oil. Also, the side salad that came with it wasn’t the best. Next time, stick to the pizza. That looks way better.

I was skeptical when first trying Big Apple Pizza since I’m not thrilled with any other pizza place in the area. However, I have ordered their Grandmas Sicilian twice now and both times it was amazing! This is now my new pizza spot in this area! I can’t wait to try the other food they offer!

I have a strong feeling Big Apple Pizza and I were a one night stand… but, you know… a good one. So It’s a Friday afternoon and I need to get my daughter from Northern, NJ to Towson Maryland in 3 ½ hours… but my daughter is starving and needs to eat. Not hungry… she’s HANGRY. She punches«pizza» into Unilocal and she yells«get off at this exit-Kenilworth!» Now, the last time I had pizza in Kenilworth was probably 25 years ago… and it was awful… so I walked into Big Apple with some skepticism. We had no time to waste so my daughter ordered penne vodka with chicken and I ordered a plain and a sausage slice all to go… and told them I was in a hurry. The pretty girl behind the counter smiled and says ‘I’ll take care of you’. And she did, she hurried the cooks to get the pasta out quick and we were on our way. I know none of you have seen my daughter eat when she’s hungry so picture Bluto in Animal House stuffing his face. I mean she wolfed down her meal like she hadn’t eaten in days and I swear she was licking the side of the container it was so good. The pizza was a good solid Jersey effort. Crust was a little thicker than I prefer, but it was delicious. Unfortunately, that’s where the love fest probably ends because I’m never in Kenilworth anymore so unless I’m on another trip down the Parkway I don’t know if I’ll enjoy another Big Apple slice… but at least I KNOW if I happen to venture into that little town again I can get a great slice of pizza.

Everything on their menu is amazing. I try to get something different everytime. The pizza is great and the owners are really friendly. I drive 15 min out of my way just to get my pizza from here. Definitely recommend!

Pizza, Italian food etc everything seems to be pretty good at this place. I’d recommend their chicken francese, and chicken penne vodka. Salivating just thinking about their food lol.

We absolutely love Big Apple. This place was recommended to me and I have to say upon looking at the outside I was skeptical. However, pizza is always great especially grandma pie. Vodka pie is good too. It’s our staple Friday Night Pizza spot.

This is by far the best pizza you can get in Kenilworth. I recently moved to Roselle Park at the end of last year but I do have family in Kenilworth so I’ve been to Big Apple and Kenilworth many times before moving here. Anyway the food is amazing. The pizza is incredible. The only thing I’m disappointed about though is their lack of desserts. The only dessert that they have are zeppoles. Personally I think they would get even more people by adding just a few desserts to their menu for example, cannoli’s, cheesecake tiramisu etc. All in all still the best pizza shop in Kenilworth

This pizzeria is my go to spot whenever I am in the mood for good Italian food. The grandma pie is to die for! Literally the best I’ve had, and I’ve lived in Jersey my entire life — I know good pizza. I’ve tried several other things on the menu, including the buffalo wings, manicotti, and penne vodka. So far everything has exceeded my expectations. Not only is the food delicious but the delivery is very fast.

Had a big problem with Big Apple Pizza. I tried to order online but my order didn’t go through with a msg to call the store. I called the store and was told my credit card declined(which did not make sense to me). Obviously they did not deliver my order. A few days later I checked my bank statement and found that Big Apple Pizza charged my card $ 18.57. A call to Big Apple did not get this resolved. They were rude and denied having charged the card. I had to file a claim with Chase. Chase has issued a refund for the charge and will pursue the issue directly with Big Apple. I read a previous review where the reviewer said their bank statement showed a slightly higher amount then their actual bill. A word to the wise … if you choose to eat at Big Apple … think twice before you give your credit card number. Stick to cash transaction only when they actually deliver or provide your order. Additionally when I told Big Apple I was going to give them a bad review, Mike who claimed to be the owner ask me «what if I come stand on your lawn». So here is my review. I am not going to be intimidated. I have the police number on speed dial should Mike decide he wants to show up uninvited to my house. This is NOWAY to run a business!

I write this review with a heavy heart. Big Apple Pizza is the best pizza in the area, their sauce is so delicious and their different styles of pizza suits everyone’s wants. Their pan pizza is my favorite, the perfect amount of crispy delicious crust mixed with their toppings sauce and cheese — so amazing. Seriously, I love this pizza so so so so so so much. So why am I writing with a heavy heart? Because Big Apple seems to be getting too popular, too busy, and it’s affecting the quality of their service. I usually call ahead and pick up my pizza(or send my friend out to pick it up for us), since they’re so close to my house it seems a waste to wait for the delivery guy. So when you walk in the door, you can see all the tickets — all the pizzas that are being ordered and made. They start at the prep table, then when the prep table puts the pizza in the oven, the ticket moves to the oven area, and finally when the pizza’s done and ready to go, the ticket is moved to the front. So you have a very visual representation of just how busy they are. I called ahead one day to pick up a pizza. It seems that something got lost in translation and although my ticket was moved to the oven part, there was no margherita pan pizza in the oven. So my ticket was moved without a pizza, or someone accidentally got my pizza. I’m not sure which happened, but I had ordered a pizza 15 minutes before I arrived, waited ten minutes after paying at the store, and it was nowhere to be found. Did I get an apology? No. I got a «we’re making it super fresh for you right now.» like they did it on purpose. Please. If you make a mistake, own up to it. Don’t try to play me. That experience really left a sour taste in my mouth, and it wasn’t the first time. I love this pizza place, but they either need to expand or take fewer orders. You can’t sacrifice service in this day and age, it ruins a business.

Just read a few reviews above which are completely opposite my experience. I’m also a pizza snob. I grew up in Brooklyn and also lived in Manhattan for awhile and in both places, the average pizza was excellent and is far better than the best pizza i have found in New Jersey. I’ve lived now in NJ for almost 30 years and about 6 years ago finally found a very good place in Kenilworth that matches my New York experience, Capris. For what this is worth, it takes me about 20 – 25 minutes to drive there. Recently, a nurse in my dentists office located in the area told me that the Grandma Sicilian in Big Apple Pizza was special and that they bought it for office parties. I finally decided to try it and what a mistake it was. Now, I like all kinds of pizza especially the basic cheese pie and Sicilian pizza. This pizza tasted like cheap pizza that you get in the Pizza Hut or Dominos or frozen pizza from the supermarket. It’s possible that it’s a matter of style and this style just doesn’t appeal to me which is why I didn’t give this a 1 star. But, I like all kinds of pizza and this was not good. It was thin crust which is ok for me but very little cheese especially compared to a real Sicilian. I can’t tell if it was just bad or I just don’t care for that style. I can’t complain about the service but I can complain about the price in the web site. When I looked at the menu online at their web site, the price was $ 16. When I checked the bill at home, it was $ 17. No big deal but it was their web site. Had I enjoyed the pizza, I probably would have not minded but this should have been correct.

First time here and very tasty tomato sauce on the pizza! I had the grandma Sicilian(thin crust) and it was awesome! They also have various pan pizzas. like the BBQ Chicken pan pizza and it’s also was very good and fresh! Nothing like Pizza Hut… Will definitely come back to try the other selections!!!

Originally from Bklyn, I’m admittedly a pizza snob. I’ve now been living in Union for 5 years and it took me about 4 years to find a decent pizza place. This place is def more than decent– it’s my go to spot for Delish pizza! Staff is friendly and professional!

Having lived in Brooklyn, Staten Island, and Manhattan, I have to say that NJ is more hit or miss for good pizza than I am used to. I had a nice visit the other night at Big Apple Pizza. The veggie slice is quite tasty and the buffalo chicken slice is heavenly(just don’t think about the calories tho). Very small seating area, though pretty clean and tidy. No high chairs available. Hope to try em out again soon.

This is not your regular pizza place. Their speciality pies or slices are absolutely amazing. Having been going there since they opened, it gave me plenty of time to try every speciality slice that they have. I have a list of favorites, but there is not anyone type of slice that let me down. They all are excellent and you can tell they use very fresh products in making them and take pride in there pizza making skills. The owners and employees make you feel at home. I know I talked above about their Pizza, but their Entrees and Hot or Cold Sandwiches also receive bragging rights. There really is not any item I have tried that wasn’t above good. The only thing I can say is try something different each time you may go there. You will be surprised, and definitely enjoy whatever you do get. Big Apple Pizza… Keep up the great food making!!!

My test for trying out a new pizza place is a large plain pie. Along with that we tried out a few specialty slices and nothing let us down. The delivery was fast and the pizza was delicious! The large plain is definitely one of the best around. For the speciality slices we had the vodka sauce /chicken slice, margeherita, and caprese which was my favorite. You can tell everything is made super fresh which is always a huge plus! I knocked off a star because the second time I got it I ordered a small plain and it didn’t taste as good as the previous pie. However, that will not stop me from ordering again, guess I’ll just have to get a large :) Also, I came to pick up the second time and very friendly and attentive staff. Happy this place is local.

The grandma style pizza is delicious, it’s thin crust and flavorful. I’ve ordered from here twice since I’ve moved to the area and they have impressed me both times. Also their delivery time is very accurate. We will be ordering again there soon
