Stopped in for breakfast and all of the food was pretty darn good. The pancakes were delicious. I’m very excited about the premises and hope that there’s continued success. While the staff wasn’t unpleasant my service stickler side would like to see less cell phone time and more clearing of tables. If there are stacked plates at the table it doesn’t take but a few moments to clear some plates so the guests have a better experience. And maybe a rule that staff shouldn’t eat meals behind the counter but rather on their breaks.

Food was pretty good. I had cheesesteak and while it was good, it was a little dry. Adding au jus to it for dipping made it better. Husband had a Reuben, he said it was good, flavor was there. Kids pb&j was tasty. Their home made chips are really good. All in all the food was typical, just not fantastic. I would go back since it was decent food. Staff was friendly. Place is clean.

A gem you wouldn’t expect to find around here! The place is very clan and spacious. The staff was friendly and helpful, even while on break eating. The food is great and at super low prices. I got a breakfast bagel sandwich, soup for lunch latter, and a desert thing(I can’t remember what the lady said it was called and it looked to good to matter any way) for $ 10 with tax! This is a training restaurant, so during the week they have trainees working, and on weekends paid staff takes over to keep up. I imagine the training is how they keep prices so low I thought it was a mistake until I arrived. An FYI — the place is located next to some questionable areas. However the police station is next door and this block is clean and nice looking.

Very good food, but overpriced in my opinion for what you get. Because it is a training facility, an idea I respect, the quality of service can be unpredictable. If you go understanding that this is a place where people are learning a skill, ok. If you want quick, efficient service, you might be disappointed, because it is really a matter of who serves you that day.

Fantastic concept, fantastic food, fantastic prices. Was on a road trip and was kinda resigned to eating at a Shari’s or other sad shitty restaurant for breakfast, but then I found GFO and it’s a gem. They give all their tips to Meals on Wheels, and it’s a training kitchen so you get damn good food at some pretty rad prices while helping people get a leg up in the industry. ALSOALSO: they have really pretty ceramic bowls for sale with 100% of the proceeds going to the food bank, and their staff are super accommodating and nice! If you don’t get the home fries you should be disappointed in yourself.

We stopped by to try them out and I was pleasantly surprised. I guess it is a training restaurant for people that need help and want to learn a trade. According to the web site — Grounds for Opportunity(GFO) Café is a full service café and a training kitchen, offering a 16-week certificated course, preparing students for jobs in the restaurant industry, and serves as CAP’s central kitchen for its Meals on Wheels and Senior Community Lunch programs. I had the Reuben and I will say it was very good — I was not asked how I want it(pet peeve — only one way to make a Reuben) and they had a decent about of items on it. Probably one of the best I have had in Washington State All of us loved our meals and found them to be an adequate amount and tasty — well worth the reasonable price. They have photos of some of the graduates on the wall but in talking to the manager — I found out they have a high turnover and thus not able to help as many as they would like — people drop out of the program. I would strongly suggest trying this place for both the food and to help them with their training.

Wow, traveling through to the Geocaching Block party in Seattle. Stopped here and what a surprise. The food is great and so are the employees. Nice job, we will stop here again. The Salman salad and chicken strips are way over the top.

Visiting town for vacation and picked this restaurant based on reviews. We were SO glad that we stopped by. Wasn’t busy at all for a Sunday morning so I was a bit concerned but we were greeted as soon as we walked in and seated. The breakfast menu is kind of small but what we got was delicious! I had the breakfast sandwich on a bagel, my husband got the breakfast scramble with country gravy and we shared a biscuit and gravy with their chorizo gravy. GETTHECHORIZOGRAVY, it’s so dang good! This restaurant supports a great organization and if we’re ever in town again, we’ll be sure to eat there!

This place is great. Excellent food(house made potato chips) that stands on its own — combined with very worthy mission. Food is very well priced for the quality(hot ham and cheese is what’s up). I’d be really happy with the food anywhere — let alone Kelso. Many things I’d like to try on the menu especially all their hot sandwiches. Staff and the trainers are on it. A big recommend.

We came in on a whim we heard about it on the radio and just have not been in the neiborhood while it was open. Oh boy am I glad we did the food was delicious and the portions were really good. The food did take a little longer to get to us then I prefer for lunch and only 2 other tables but the quality of the food was amazing and fresh almost a gourmet feel to it. We definately will come back and try breakfast and I love the idea that it is helping people and the community. They sell hand made bowls as well in the window very interesting and a portion goes towards helping others. The people were pelasent and thoughtful and the food it something you would see in a more upper scale area thank you !!!

This is a unique café. It’s a training site to help people gain experience in food service, customer service and business. The food is much more than you would expect from such a venue. Fresh, delicious and generous portions!
