I am not the pickiest person in the world, but I didn’t go in asking for an asymmetrical cut, which would be cool, but somehow, that is what I got. My hair is way longer on the left side! The teachers didn’t check the cut and I will say that maybe I didn’t style it exactly the same way as the stylist. Although I like to talk, my stylist talked WAY too much. However, everyone was very professional and courteous and the salon looked amazing.

Thought I was going to get my hair highlighted, when I arrived the receptionist was rude and asked me If I had someone to watch him as she pointed at my son in disgust. Apparently you can’t be on the salon floor unless you are having work done and he can’t sit in the lobby. So if you have children Tony and Guy are not for you, unless you have a babysitter, or family members available at the time of appointment. Not everyone has that available and there was no need to be rude

I recently graduated from the Keller academy. After many school tours and researches. I have decided attend the Toni and Guy Keller academy. Nidia and Ryan are so helpful. They helped me thru the registration process. I love the school. Teachers and Staffs are wonderful. Love the education at Toni and Guy.

As a student this academy is crap. It’s full of drama and favoritism. It will break you down and tear you apart. The structure and academic program is OK at best. The director is a shady man. The instructors are decent but play favorites. As a person wanting to have hair done it is a school remember that. Mostly you will have a great experience.

Thank goodness for Instagram where I saw pictures of amazing balayage/ombres done by April. Keller is a bit of a drive from Dallas but I’m glad I went because April did an amazing job on my hair. I made an appointment at 11 and didn’t leave until 3 but it was definitely worth it. The price for balayage here is ridiculously cheap at $ 60 and they offer 50% off for military. Sadly April finishes school in October. I’ve had many other cosmetologists balayage my hair and they didn’t even compare to her for triple the price. Great place to come to if you aren’t afraid to let a student practice on you. I am a cosmetologist myself so it’s no biggie for me, everyone has to start out somewhere but lucky me, April was like a pro and the instructors were really helpful in assisting her with every step or question she did have.

I give this place 1 due to the lack of professionalism. It is the only place I’ve ever known to leave you with a «If you don’t hear from us then know we have decided not to accept you. No need to contact us.» What kind of professionals are running this place? I am a 40 year old man that has had numerous jobs in my life and never before have I heard of anything like this! P. S. this was not a position I applied for but a friend and when I heard that I told said friend to not even bother. No matter what the name may be on the door.

I went here about a year ago and had a great experience. I wanted a asymmetrical haircut and the girl who did my hair had never done one before but she did an awesome job. She was very kind and friendly and made sure she knew what I wanted done to my hair. The teachers kept coming by and making sure everything was going good. The only downside was that it took about four hours or close to it. I didn’t mind though, I would just recommend to not have any planned or be in a rush when you go to get your haircut.

I’ve always had a good experience here. Considering I’ve had students work on my hair, I’m impressed and thing they do a great job. The instructors give them lots of pointers to give me the style I want.

I have had a couple experiences here. One bad and one pretty good. If you want the abridged version, SKIP to the bottom. Let’s start with the bad one shall we but first background. I went into the academy because I am no model and have NO qualms about pinning hair back or throwing it in a bun if it turned out badly so I came here with no expectations. Honestly, I just needed to chop off some lengths so I could give my hair to the Pantene Pro-V Beautiful Lengths program for cancer patients. I guess I could have done it myself but I figured I would get it shaped in the meantime instead of having a blunt cut. Ok on with the story so, when I walked in, it was exactly what I expected a Toni&Guy institute would be like. Modern, funky, contemporary and with a lot of black and white. As expected I saw a lot of A line bobs and some interesting hair. I’m not that cool so I don’t think I would be able to pull it off but more power to them. If it looks good why not right? So I guess I am not doing a very good job on why this was a bad experience but I went just trying to chop off some length and the stylist(I think her name was April but she’s not there anymore) who cut my hair was so scared she would screw it up that she literally took thirty minutes putting my hair in little pony tails and had to get the instructor SEVERAL times before even putting scissors to my hair. I get that she didn’t want to cut more than I wanted but she ended up cutting WAY above the rubber bands and cut WAYYYY more than the 10 inches I wanted.(It was more like 13inches) I know 3 inches doesn’t seem like a lot but it is. I couldn’t even throw it up in a pony tail especially because she cut my side swept fringe(bangs) way too short to gather up the hair all together. Oh and please don’t get me started with the actual cut. I don’t know how she did this but she persuaded me to get three types of layers in my hair with a slight a line.(Who knew there were three types of freaking layering techniques?!) Now I told you all that I am not that cool to pull that off and BOY was I right. After it was all said in done, my hair was almost chin length when it was supposed to be three inches longer and REALLY didn’t fit my personality at all. I didn’t cry. Like I said before, it is just hair but boy was my husband in for a rude awakening. It was terrible but what was worse is that it grew out awkward and spotty. I didn’t return back for a year. So this year, I thought I would try this institute again as they get new students all the time and I couldn’t exact judge the whole program based on that one girl right? Right! :) Again, it was still the modern, funky, contemporary black and white vibe but this time there were A LOT more girls with long hair with beachy waves than girls with A-line bobs.(I have nothing against a cute bob but my face is WAY too big for a cut like that, so I am way more into long beach waves.) The stylist I got this time was named Dustin. He was attentive and talkative. Which is nice since I’m not a shy person and I hate awkward silences. This time I came prepared though. I told him I just wanted a simple layer with side swept fringe no crazy layering and no shorter than a couple inches. I told him the story about what happened to the FIRST time I went to the academy and he seemed adament in making it a better experience. I could tell he was a little nervous because honestly, after telling him my horror story wouldn’t you be? hahahahah! All in all, my hair turned out pretty good. I have a hard time with people cutting my fringe and he did a really good job. He was TERRIFIED at the end when I asked him to pull out the flat iron and flat iron some gross baby hair parts that I hate. He thought I hated the cut but I really liked it. I guess he expected my face to light up but like I said. Hair is hair. But, since this is a review I will be more descriptive, my hair feels good and as it grows out, I can tell it is growing up pretty evenly which was the whole point. I’m going back for a trim in a month. :) I would say 3.5 stars but I will round up if my next experience in July is as good. Stay tuned for an update! Abridged version — Know what you want and ask for that. Do not let them talk you into anything you aren’t comfortable with and don’t be afraid to speak up. These are students so it isn’t always going to be perfect, but pretty darn close.
