AC Guys R Us Keller

Our tenants said the AC wasn’t cooling to they called these guys. They came out and said we had a leak and the unit needed to be charged. That was in June 2013, Now in August our tenants called saying the unit wasn’t working at all. So they called these guys again and they said the compressor was shot but luckily the part was warrantied so we would only have to pay the $ 1700 in labor cost. You have got to be kidding me right? So I looked for reviews and imagine my surprise in finding the review before this one. So I looked up my June receipt and found that they had put (guess how much) 11lbs of freon in our unit but they charged us $ 55.00 per lb. I knew right then we were swindled. So we called in someone new and they told us that the 11lbs was too much and even if the unit was bone dry including filling the coils the unit would only take 8lbs. I can’t prove it but I know their over charging our unit is what has caused it to fail or at least part of the reason. Needless to say we told our tenant to immediately stop dealing with these people and we would have our new AC people take care of the issue. I hope no one else get taken for the 11lbs of freon ride these guys are offering. Disappointing. Would not recommend.

These guys do business the old fashioned way. Fast, friendly, courteous service. I will recommend this company any time I get a chance.

I will never use these guys again. I called them because they were the only company to pick up the phone on a Sunday when my air conditioning unit wasn’t working. They came the next day which was fine. The 79 dollar service charge was fairly priced. The guy told me that he was going to charge me for that and $ 40 per lb for freeon. I asked him how much freeon he would need to put in and he couldn’t give me a straight answer. When it was all said and done, he put 11 lbs of freeon into my AC unit. At first, I was thankful that it was working however I knew there was still a leak in it and told him that I would talk to the builder about finding the leak since there was obviously a leak with that much freeon out of the system. When the builder’s company came, they had told me that my unit only takes 7.6 lbs of freeon so right there I felt ripped off. When I called AC Guys are us and asked them about it, they stated that was the proper amount of freeon to run the system. They also stated that you need freeon in the coils going from the outside system to the inside system which made sense to me. To follow that up, I spoke with the builder’s company and they stated even if that was true, my house is only 1640 square ft and the distance from the outside unit to the inside unit was very short and would not use anywhere near 3 lbs of freeon. The builder’s company actually took 2.5 lbs of freeon out of my system because it was over charged and what happens when you have too much freeon in the system, it spits out oil. It can actually shut down the system. When I explained this to AC Guys R us, and asked them for a refund of just the difference that the Builder’s company took out, they again tried to explain to me that the amount that he put in was the proper amount of freeon.
I understand that he felt he was doing the right thing but my system could have shut down had I not had the other company come and take a look at it due to the freeon being overcharged. At AC guys R us, they would not refund my money and I’m not sure how I can get anything back so I guess this is a lesson learned. I will never go with them ever again and hope nobody else has to go through this.
