Menehune Food Mart, one of Kauai’s original chain stores was the perfect place to stop before driving all the way out west to Polihale. I liked their large selection of food and drink. I was surprised that they even had a F’real milkshake machine. They had a small warm food selection like fried chicken, musubi and egg rolls. I had one of each and they all tasted like they were sitting there from early in the morning or even late the night before. The musubi was a 2/5, egg roll 2⁄5 and the fried chicken was actually pretty good 4⁄5. The customer service there was pretty good but the clientele looked pretty sketchy. There was a guy in there that looked like he was ready to rob the store and there was a young guy outside with missing teeth asking everyone for change. Overall, Menehune’s a great place to stop and get snacks if you don’t mind the shady customers.

Whether you’re heading up to Koke’e or to any of the westside beaches, this is a nice stopover for a quick lunch to go pick up. Everything from meals, snacks, beverages and ice all at one stop.

A place to load up on spam musubi, steamed pork manapua, banana bread and coconut juice. Breakfast of champions. Baked goods are fresh and locally made. I prefer these types of places.
