A few weeks ago while traveling through the Keene area we decided to stop in at this JCPenney location to look for some women’s clothing as well as men’s suits. When we walked into the store we were excited because it was large, well organized, and packed full of great clothing. As we began to look around and try on different items, our view of the store began to slightly drift away.
As we looked at items and also looked for staff, it was impossible to find anyone. There were a few people scattered at registers, but not once did someone ask us if we need help, or even make eye contact with us.
In the end we went our whole (1 hours) shopping experience without any assistance until we tracked down a lone employee who was stocking the children’s section.
Overall, we had mixed reviews about this store, but in the end it pulled out with an A-​OK. The store itself was great, but the staff left a lot to be desired!

the employees are (usually) very friendly and helpful (especially the ladies in the salon)… the prices are more than competitive. they have improved the quality of the products over the years. this store is clean and well organized.
its great to have this resource in Keene! much preferred over Wally World

I am NOT a department store shopper, nor am I a fan of Wal-​Mart or Target or any place like that & I HATE malls. (But I do like Marshall’s & TJ Maxx for their deals on active wear & occasional sweater or fleece) I prefer to shop at small, locally owned businesses. But this JCP is located in a strip mall & we were desperate for a pair of dressier boots for my daughter & had already driven all of the way out to Keene only to find that TJ Maxx doesn’t carry youth shoes. Bootleggers was a bust. We’d already been to Hubert’s in Peterborough. So this was our last best hope. I hit the bathroom first & it was big & clean & smelled like vanilla. I would have settled for clean LOL. We were only in the youth department but everything was neatly organized by size, perfectly folded, etc. I’m a big thrift store shopper & their clearance prices rivaled most consignment shop prices! I’m sure I’ll be back, I’ll just stick to the clearance racks. ;) Oh & the cashier was friendly too. Always a plus.

Ok — I don’t think that I’ve actually shopped at JCPenney’s in years… not since it left the plaza in Brattleboro actually… and that was when I was still in high-​school. Needless to say, it’s been a long time. However, I couldn’t resisit the idea of Oxford shirts on sale for $ 12.95 (thank you to the circular add stuck in my morning paper) so I headed in. Several shirts, sweaters, and accessories later, I am ringing out at the register. The ridiculously low price that she quoted seemed off and my confused look garnered a «you saved $ 148.19 on purchases today.» Say what?! Can I have another minute to continue to browse because this sale is killer! Now, I know what you’re thinking. JCPenney’s isn’t really the cream of the crop in terms of fashion, but for basics like cardigans, t-​shirts, polos, etc. the deals don’t get much better!
