Stopped here around noon on a Sunday as we were driving home. Overall a good experience. Given that this is a chain I expect a pretty standard level of service but not overly-WOW for food. The wait was only 10 minutes, our server was quick and friendly. Dining area and bathrooms were clean. Food was good. The french toast was very flavorful but with so much butter on it, it was hard to make out the actual flavor vs. the butter. Chicken salad and chicken salad sandwich were both fine. We also had the fruit bowl with yogurt and english muffin. Overall a solid experience.

Too expensive for breakfast food. We didn’t order anything super elaborate and I just drank water, but with a decent tip it was around thirty bucks for my husband and I. For that I expect a mimosa brunch or something really extra special. Maybe I’m just spoiled by cheaper places, but this sort of generic chain doesn’t really get me going. I guess they need money to stamp Egg & I into every Belgian waffle or something. At least my waffle had fresh berries on it, though! The food was all good and I certainly can’t complain about it. Decent eggs, very delicious sausage, and my husband’s Benedict got two thumbs up from him. I would possibly consider 4 stars even with the high-ish prices here, but they seated us next to a very loud child when there were only four occupied tables in the restaurant. As happily child free adults, we consider being around a screechy kid at 7 am undesirable. Especially when said child is whining about not liking their $ 12 omelet. Just saying.

We like The Egg and I in Lincoln and ate at the Kearney location while traveling. We use Unilocal often to find the locally owned or one-off places to eat that are highly rated. For our visit, the management and waitstaff were outstanding. Portions were large. Our golden rule in unknown restaurants is stick to the basics or the local specialty or whatever comes out of the reviews. If you do that here, you’ll be ok.

Eggcellent! Good service, plenty of choices, creative items, nice place… The place was quite busy but the food came out quickly. I had the Santa Fe with green chili and chorizo. It could have had more chorizo but it was delicious nonetheless. Definitely worth the stop!

Really can’t go wrong here. Breakfast is good and something different than Denny’s or Perkins.

Great breakfast place! I tried the pumpkin waffle with toasted pecans and shared a southwestern skillet with pork chili. Surprisingly good coffee and very fresh thick cut bacon too. All around, great menu variety even if you don’t want eggs or breakfast. Also they have several lunch offerings.

Stopped in and ordered biscuits and gravy. Being a bit hungry, I asked for an extra biscuit. The biscuits and gravy were fair but not nearly as good as some that I’ve had. When I got the bill, they had charged me for an entire 2nd order, rather than an upcharge which was what I expected. Now, their biscuits and gravy are one(1) biscuit split in half. I don’t regard that to be plural(biscuits). So I paid double for biscuits and gravy and received one biscuit. When I asked the cashier for an adjustment, she wasn’t «allowed to do so». When I emailed corporate with my complaint, I did not so much as receive the courtesy of a reply. As far as I’m concerned, I was gouged and such corporate arrogance is not worthy of my support. Now I go across the street to the north to the Lodge where I get good food at a reasonable price, good service, and adequate atmosphere and the ownership is local.

Very so-so. Powdered scrambled eggs? No thanks. We were traveling and looking for a breakfast place during our three days in Kearney. We gave it a try and decided to keep looking. The service was fast and friendly, but the food was below average. Very bland, smallish portions. The décor and establishment suggested we’d be eating better than we did.

Good breakfast place. The food seems to be flavored toward a senior crowd ie. no salt no bold flavors. They have several Mexican dishes, but they are all super bland. It seems hard to serve bland chorizo, but they manage it. Most of their food appears to come from a can(just look into the kitchen you can see it). Decent breakfast, probably on par with any generic chain breakfast place.

Completely satisfied by our breakfasts, which included very good coffee and prompt, courteous service. The food was fresh, the restaurant clean, and I wouldn’t have guessed it was a chain restaurant(in the best possible way).

My wife and I moved here from California. While staying in a hotel waiting for our new home to be completed we made this one of our regular spots. The food and the service are top notch. I recommend if you are passing through town you give it a try.

Great location. Great presentation. Great service. Clean inside. Food was amazing, a good variety to choose from. We will come back often and refer this place to others. Have tried a variety of the food and have not found anything I didn’t love.

Close to I-80 and easy to find, we stopped here on our way from Chicago to California. It is definitely a step above Denny’s or Perkins. Clean, reasonably priced, friendly staff, and fresh food. They even offer their own bottled hot sauce which was very tasty, contained only a few ingredients, and no preservatives. We will be stopping here again if we’re ever in the area!

Easy to find, with easy access from the Interstate. Cozy little chain restaurant for breakfast/lunch. Service was good from the moment we walked in. Our order was taken quickly and the food came fairly quickly. Taste was good, not over the top but similar to most breakfast places. I tried the stuffed French toast and for me it had a bit too much going on. It was more than enough food; its one of those things that all those things sounded great on the menu, but not so much when it was served. I wouldn’t try this again. This place was a good place for breakfast.

Love this place! Cute Easter décor, not overly decorated but simple and sweet. Pancakes & french toasts with bits of bacon are cooked to perfection. Cheese omelette wasn’t the best though. Sunny sides up are better. Family asked to return here again. Didn’t know this was a chain but in area we go days after eating here, there is no Egg & I. We miss you!

I’d skipped breakfast on a busy day and was starving by the time I finally had a moment to breathe. I’d first heard of The Egg & I when a friend took me to the one in Lincoln and liked it, so I pulled into the parking lot when I saw this one in Kearney. They’d just printed a new menu recently, so it was very exciting. I got the Wild Mushroom and Veggie Hash, one of the new items. I thought there was a little bit too much tomato hollandaise, but I simply scraped off what I didn’t want. But other than that it was absolutely scrumptious! The food prices are more than reasonable, although drinks are a little overpriced. My small orange juice was in a glass smaller than the average whiskey glass, and for the price I could have bought a 32-oz carton of OJ. But, solid and fast service and great food, so I’ll be back!

We stopped here for breakfast after stopping at a different one in Estes Park, CO. The one in CO was heavier on the homefries for sure, but this location in general was just as good. I tried the candied pecan waffle and it was delicious. What was even better is that it came with eggs and bacon, so you get your sweet with your salty which I love. Overall, The Egg and I is a great chain and this location didn’t disappoint.
