They were open on new years eve and day. Had to go both days. Their burgers were great, home made patties. Small little convenience store attached. Nice stop on your way to the east side of the island.

The best chicken ever! We got a 9 piece and went back for more the next day! Oooh la la, this is not your typical road side chicken, it is magnificent Molokai chicken. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed! Update: had the teriyaki chicken plate, it was great as well!

I saw a comment about this last chance stop on the way to Halawa Bay. I was not prepared for the delightful service, freshly made sandwich, and decent prices. I plan to get another meal from here before we leave Molokai, just because So, if you are taking the amazing drive to Halawa and you don’t get your food here, your loss.

We were staying out on the east end of Moloka’i and after a long night of family partying we wanted to pick up breakfast. Being the only place near us we went here. This is a little mom n pop operation… small convenience store on one side, food counter n kitchen n on the other. Staff was really friendly and they were pretty busy Sunday morning. I got just a cheese omelet and it came with potatoes n toast… simple but good. The guys got the Loco Mocos and really enjoyed it. Totally Moloka’i style… easy going n laid back.

Middle of the road. Figuratively and literally, since it’s the only store for miles. Store itself is clean with a medium to small selection of goods which are somewhat reasonably priced. The food counter side doesn’t look as clean as the store but does have a nice sized menu(up on a board). The attitude of the employees on both sides is typical for this island which means: they couldn’t care less that you walked in and can’t be bothered to help or acknowledge you until they are good and ready, and you can bet your hula hoop that this won’t be within a reasonable time frame or with any sense of purpose or urgency. No one cares worth a nickel that you’re a customer or need their help. Just the way it is, and it gets old to be honest.

If you are on the east end of Moloka’i then you won’t want to miss this place. Mana’e means east and Mana’e Goods and Grinds, Store and Counter, has wonderful local style food. I had the Chicken Long Rice special which had wonderful flavor, and the folks preparing the food and working the window were very nice and knew all about the ingredients in the various dishes(I have a shellfish allergy so I have to drill down to a painful level of detail sometimes). You order at the window, and we ate at a little table right on the little lanai near the window, however if you go on the other side of the store there is a nice table there and plenty of grass and trees if you want to picnic. There is also a magnificent hala tree right next to their sign by the road. Ono kau kau! Also, I bought a few stems of tropical flowers for a friend at the store and the staff was very kind! They have all kinds of goodies in this store, so check it out! Constructive suggestion for the future: find some good earth-friendly containers and cutlery so there doesn’t have to be so much styrofoam and plastic waste.

Pretty much the only spot for eats you’ll find on this side of the island! Breakfast/lunch/dinner counter with limited outdoor seating and a small convenience store. Offerings were your basic, solid grindz-type: mahi burger, cheeseburger, mac salad, Hurricane fries with furikake… The prices decent were decent for Molokai, and employees were friendly and helpful. Stop on yr way to/from the breathtaking Halawa Valley!

I live about 3 miles down the road from G&G and eat there at least once a week, so I feel like I have a pretty good feel on the quality of the food and service. First, the food. They definitely have some of the best grindz on the island. I’m a big fan of their teri-anything, the burgers(second only to Moloka’i Burger) and, well, so far I haven’t had anything there that I would say is «bad». It’s all in the range of «good» to «amazing», but I tend to like the things from the flat top more than the fryer. Their mac salad is good, so a Teri Chicken with Mac Salad and Rice is a sure bet. They have a nice variety of daily specials on the board too, so check those out for something different than the usual. Second, the service is quite nice. They’re all very friendly there and are able to help you out and are pretty patient, especially considering how slammed they get during the lunch hour rush. Having the store next door is also a bonus since I can get some shopping done while my food is being cooked up. Plus, anything they don’t make, you can probably find the ingredients for inside to make yourself at home. I almost never eat at the location anymore, mainly because the flies tend to be pretty persistent and get up in my grill when I’m eating. But, like I said, I live just 3 miles down the way so I can grab the food and take it home and it’s still hot when I sit down to eat. Here’s a tip that might help too. If you’re going there during the lunch rush, call ahead and place your order. Then it will be ready by the time you get there and you don’t have to wait around for them to wade through the crowd of people.

This place is definitely a hidden gem. Tucked away on the east coast of Molokai, the overall experience was simply simple. Just that. It was like walking up to grandma’s house and ordering whatever you wanted to eat and it was homemade. You dont find much on Molokai, but when here it’s a wonderful quick little drive inn to stop in for goods and GRINDZ! Tried a whole bunch of things but the kim chee fried rice was the best i’ve EVER tried. I would come back to Molokai just to eat here every day! Haha

Great place for a solid plate lunch. The general store is also a good place to buy your essentials and priced comparable to stores in town(Kaunakakai). The teri chicken plate was generous, well flavored, cooked perfectly and cut into strips to make it easier to eat. Accompanied by macaroni salad and white rice this is a hearty meal with great sauce. The teri sauce is a perfect combo of sweet & savory with a hint of ginger and served on a bed of cabbage. The price is just under $ 10 which is a little pricey for a plate lunch, but this is Molokai and most everything is about twice as expensive when compared to larger islands like Maui and Oahu.

We stopped by on our way back to Kaunakakai town from Halawa Valley. We ordered cream chicken(that day’s special) and fried saimin, which were both pretty good. Well, our taste buds may have been acclimated to Hawaiian standard, as we live in Hawaii for years, but we really enjoyed them. Lilikoi smoothie also tasted fantastic especially after the hike.

Great place and they have a lot! Couldn’t find«the fish guys» selling out of their trucks, so we stopped here for dinner ideas and found some in the freezer. A few choices, quick pay, and all set! The ladies working were so friendly and kind! Vanessa helped me pick out a CD — local man who sings in Hawaiian. Just what I wanted, and thank you! By the way, dinner was great and we ate out on the lanai! :) Aloha!

This little local market has all the essentials. Located in Puko’o, 16 miles from Kaunakakai town, you can buy eggs, milk, ice cream, beer, and even rent a movie. Definitely a plus if you don’t want to make the 25 minute drive from Puko’o to Kaunanakai.

Its so nice to have this little market on the East End. Yes they have most of the essentials and you don’t have to drive into Kaunakakai. Nice local people and its where everyone ends up on the East End. The Food counter is plate lunch style, nothing very special about it. Nice to have outdoor dinning in a tropical rustic setting.

A small store, more like a mini-Mart, located about 16 miles out of town. There are all the basics you would expect – buns, beer, chips, wine, some limited produce, and some canned goods, most of which is not priced. I guess it is called variable pricing. Cashiers are friendly and helpful.

Exploring the east side of Molokai can be very exhausting. Much of the east side of the island is very spectacular and scenic to the point where it can calm the wicked and put a smile on someone’s face just because they were there. It was amazing to be standing on the slopes of the eastern shoreline and just gaze into the ginormous Pacific Ocean and just relax and realize that life is good. With that in mind, Manae Goods & Grinds is a mom and pop operation on the eastern side of Molokai. Located off of the highway, it was a very good stopping point to what was a great day of sightseeing and distressing. It was a small building that kind of was a house. Home based business for sure. Most of the business here are locally owned and are family operated, so that support local means more to me than ever before. The business is part 7-Eleven and part restaurant /delicatessen. Trying to be the one stop shop for everything that you need to have while staying on Molokai, Manae Goods and Grindz can help you outfit your island adventure 100%. With ono grinds and a homespun way of doing business, the gift of aloha is alive and well here on east Molokai. What I had was their daily special. It was an experience, let me tell you. While it can be compared to other outlets on the island and maybe some venues in Honolulu, there is a certain satisfaction knowing that I was eating something from Molokai. It was delicious. That made me more self conscious about keeping the aloha and the economy alive and well on this island for the future. The aforementioned service was good and it felt right to patronize this place, especially since this place got nice reviews and it was the only one showing up on my Unilocal feed at the time. Overall, i would definitely recommend this place if you are on this side of the island exploring or just having fun. It would behoove you to check this place out. If you love good local food, then this place is for you. We actually took our food to go, as we were busy sightseeing and didn’t want to eat right away. Nice to eat on the go sometimes. :-) Manae Goods & Grinds is pretty awesome and worth every penny. The prices were comparable with the others on the island, but remembering that you aren’t on Maui, Oahu, or even the Big Island, says something. Support local and it will be good karma for you. Support local! A+

When you’re on the east end of Molokai forget finding food, except for Mana’e Goods & Grindz! We saw this little counter on our way east to the end of the road and stopped there on our way back when we were HUNGRY! They have a ton of stuff, but I seriously was craving a burger. Unfortunately, they were very busy and ran out of burger patties. We went with the fish and chips instead and it was decent, but nothing wonderful. This place is quite popular, though, so I’m guessing most of the food is pretty tasty. We never got back out that way, so never had a chance to try anything else.

Located on the East end of Molokai, Manae Goodz and Grindz is another mom and pop style operation that carries your basic essentials as well as a little counter selling some onolicious local grindz. We stopped in and picked up some ono shoyu poke just before heading to the airport Fand it hit the spot! Everyone is friendly here and makes you feel like ohana. Guess that’s why they call Molokai the Friendly Isle… ALOHA!!!

My husband will do almost anything for great fried chicken, and Mana’e goods & grindz’ chicken could likely get him to sell a kidney. This place is for real! On an island where there are literally no more than a dozen or so restaurants(prob closer to a dozen than«or so»), this tiny counter has a wide selection of treats, and everything we’ve had is great… BUT nothing beats the honey dipped fried chicken. For $ 9.50 you get a 3 piece plate lunch with plenty of rice and a large scoop of potato Mac salad. I prefer Mac salad without potatoes but this one is still pretty good, not too much potato interference. You can get a 9 piece bucket for $ 13.99 or an 18 piece or $ 22.99. We love it so much we bought the plate lunch and the 18 piece to take back to Maui. Heated it up in the oven, and it is still crispy and delicious! This is ono!

This is a great little store with a nice selection of essentials. We were staying at a beach house 20 miles from Kaunakakai and it would have been pretty time consuming to drive all the way back into town(20 miles on Molokai can easily take 45 minutes or more) just for a few limes or a fresh six pack. Having Goods and Grindz just a few miles away was a major convenience. The people who work here were all outgoing and friendly. As a bonus, the store also has a little food counter that serves fried saimin noodles and chicken katsu plate lunch, teriyaki, burgers, etc… This stuff, while not exactly good for you, tasted like the best food in the world after a long day of backstroking around looking at the sky or gazing across the channel watching rainbows forming over Maui or half melting into a chair while absorbing some much-needed vitamin D. All around Goods and Grindz is a great resource for this part of the island.
