After a two great days camping in Door County, my friend Nick and I were determined to pick apples on our way back to Chicago. After calling a dozen orchards with no luck, we found Star Orchard and headed on down. After bumping into construction, road closures, and Pumpkin Fest traffic we rolled in 20 minutes after close. Not only did they let us buy 2 pecks of apples, but they insisted that we pick a couple apples ourselves. Can’t thank them enough for their kindness!

This season was rather dismal for picking apples, but the star orchard website gave no false senses of hope for what we would encounter coming out to the facility. We had the whole place to ourselves on a Friday afternoon, and actually made a pretty good haul on Golden Delicious apples, and made some good finds in the store. The corn salsa was AMAZING!
