I’ve been coming her for the last few years because it’s really close to where I live. The dentists here are generally nice and I haven’t had any issues with the dentistry. My issue is with the service. I always schedule morning appointments. And whether I come in 15 minutes early or 15 minutes late, the dental assistants don’t even call my name until ATLEAST45 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. Today it was 1 hour and 10 minutes after my appointment time! I asked one of the staff why I have to wait so long and she responds, «It’s because we’re busy, too.» No apology. No legitimate explanations. She only suggested that I speak to a manager. This is the definition of bad customer service. These people have absolutely no respect for their customers’ time. Update: 2hrs have passed since I arrived, and I have yet to see an actual dentist.

Pay very close attention to your bill! My husband and I both had teeth pulled here. I had several at once, and I was in so much pain at the time that I didn’t really pay attention to what I was being charged for. When my husband went to have his tooth pulled, they charged him $ 265 for one tooth, and thats with insurance! When I looked at his receipt, it turns out the tooth extraction itself was $ 35, but they had charged $ 230 for bone replacement crap. Very deceitful. They will add that on without asking, but never even offer anesthesia? They pulled 8 teeth of mine at once. I would have liked something a little better than a numbing shot.

Southern dental is like a sweat shop for dental. None of the employees in the front ever greet you or even smile. They ALL expect you to check in without any conversation. The waiting area has a some what small tv, which is not a problem. Even if the waiting area has all males, the TV is ALWAYS on SOAPOPRAH so they don’t miss their soaps? The dentist seems professional but if your working with equipment that was NEVER rinsed off just thrown in the autoclave and someone else’s dried but so called disinfected blood is all over the utensils they use, I have to believe that the dentist are there for just a pay check too! One of my last visits I asked politely if I can get a clean equipment package. The technician says they all have been disinfected as the she rolls her eyes. The second package was dirty with dried blood. I had to tell her again that I wanted another one preferably without any dried blood. The tech just tried to reassure me that it was disinfected… They say they have after hr emergency service Right! Try calling on a Friday because they have Fridays off and only getting antibiotics and Motrin for pain with a abscess and your whole face swelling up telling the on call dentist you need something stronger for pain it hurts she reassured me the Motrin will work even though I already told her I’ve been taking anti flammatory. So another three days my mouth gets worse to the point my eye was swollen shut. I came in the office to be asked if I’m in pain? I have to repeat why I’m there three Times because no one is communicating in there. The dentist didnt even know that the on call dentist prescribed me anything? This place is not only uncaring, rude, but dangerous place to put your life in their hands!

I waited with my aunt while she picked up her new appliance. It didn’t fit. Who knows why she chose this practice.

Southern Dental Associates feels like a place where you can go and get dental work done without ever learning a person’s name. Why bother? They certainly won’t remember you. This is kind of like drive thru dentistry — a place where you can go when you have a dental need but don’t have a dentist you see on a regular basis. And, it’s okay if you don’t go in for regular check ups because they’ll never call and remind you that it’s time for a cleaning. The last time a member of my family was at Southern Dental Associates, they were forgotten. In all honesty, my husband sat in a chair for 2 hours without being seen then finally left. Southern Dental Associates never called to check on him or to reschedule. It was like the whole thing never happened. So, if you’re looking for dentistry with a personal touch, Southern Dental isn’t for you. But, if you want to be just a number that gets lost in their files, check it out — you might love it.
