I ate at Sushi Bay for the first time last night. Overall my experience was very enjoyable. I’d never had rotary sushi before. Our party if 2 arrived at 7:30 we signed up to wait for a seat at the conveyor. We were warned of a 30 minute wait. We were seated at 8:25pm. Although the wait was much longer than anticipated a server checked in with us twice, once to update us on the wait list and once to double check that we didn’t want to switch to take out as an option. For a Monday night this place was hopping. Once seated we had 3 servers check on us, ask for our drink order and give us suggestions/advice on the menu. That late at night I suggest ordering anything you want from the menu right away especially anything fried that you don’t see on the conveyor. Prices are the same whether you grab it off the belt or its brought to you. This place is perfect for someone who is new to sushi. I was able to try many things for a very cheap price. My boyfriend and I shared 8 little plates and enjoyed everything we ate. There ahi sashimi was fresh and well cute. The sushi rolls we ordered were large, fresh and delicious. We loved the stuffed and tempura mushrooms as well. The star of the order was Tempura Maki roll. At $ 3.25 my boyfriend and I voted we’d skip the other more expensive rolls we ordered(dynamite and salmon cream cheese) and order double of this on our next trip. Dinner was finished off with 2 Mochi($ 3.25 for 2) from Bubbies, I think. They only had 2 options left but both the guava and lychee were the perfect dessert. I ate too much trying everything new. Our total bill was $ 35ish. Great price for sit down sushi dinner. The wait is killer but we both thought it was worth it. And we’re planning our next visit.

Good sushi and good portions for the price! Conveyor belt didn’t have everything we wanted so we ordered more. Their pumpkin tempura and salmon skin are good. Unagi as well. The ‘don’ dishes are probably the most worth and next time I’ll get that. And ofc theres a wait…

Always a line but so Worth the wait. It’s BYOB, so you can sign in, shop around, Longs and Safeway, and when you return, your name is almost ready! Food is always spot on! Service is Kick Butt! Took my 2 yo granddaughter visiting from North Carolina and she loved it! She chowed down like a little piggy! Love going here for special occasions! Lance is KING! The sushi chefs are rock stars and easy on the eyes! They work together like a perfect symphony! Sushi Bay has great manager and management. The staff are all young kids and they stay long time! Love their Spicy Ahi! Always spiced just right. Never too hot or weak! Spot on, top notch groovy place to dine! Phone order works well to get your sushi fix! The very first time I went, I ordered COMBO Spicy Tuna Bowl. YAY and ugh, I could not finish and I had order guilt syndrome. If it’s such a thing, I felt bad for not being able to order more than one plate! For real, I had to go back once a week to get my plate count up! The prices are freaking amazing! Cheaper then KuKu and G3Nki. Bonus you get to bring your own drink! We have been enough times, we go on special occasions, we have shut the place down, no worry they NEVER kick you out! I also suffered from Awwww you’re too late, they are not taking any more names syndrome. That can really mess u up because you feel the disappointment on their hungry faces! Crazy! Love you Lance, Brandon, Paul, Blayne from Mililani… can’t remember everyone else because seriously now, focus is the food! lol

Alright, I don’t know what happened to my original review but here’s another one. Sushi bay… What can I say about this place? Is the sushi delicious? YES! Are the portions generous? YES! Is the owner and staff friendly and helpful? YES! Are there other options for«non fish eaters»? YES… but I question why you would go to a sushi place. Hehe. Is it worth the wait for over an hour to get a seat? HECKYEAH! So apparently I have the second most check-in’s to this place. And it’s all because of the above that I mentioned. Me and my bestie make the drive out from Kaneohe to Kapolei every Monday just to eat here. Yes, we travel far for our fish! I was first introduced to this small, conveyor belt sushi place by my cousin. He knew, Lance, the owner and was actually the person who did their menus for him. So when he said he had to go to this new sushi place to drop off the new menus off of course I tagged along. Boy was I amazed at the portion size/cut of the fish! And the quality was nothing like other conveyor belt sushi places. It was Ah-Maze-Ing! Ever since then, I’ve been coming at least once a week. Now when me and my bestie come, majority of the workers know our name and once were finally seated, the sushi makers in the middle automatically make our order… By memory! I must be a regular. Hehe. Enjoy the deliciousness this place offers. Oh, and if you come on weekends, lance makes these bomb @$$ stuffed mushrooms! Yes, stuffed mushrooms. Sometimes, if he has time, he’ll make it on Mondays for us. If we’re lucky!

My cousins and my friends that are local often frequent this place and recommended it so I had high expectations, especially after reading reviews. We waited about an hour and a half to be seated, and all I got was disappointment. The sushi was just OK in my opinion. Coming from California and frequenting OC and Los Angeles sushi spots I can’t say this is anywhere near comparable. The sushi quality is cheaper than all you can eat joints. The portions are generous, but I rather have amazing sushi then tons of just OK sushi. This restaurant is similar to genki where there is a rotating belt of different items and you help yourself. Don’t see what you’re looking for? No problem, you can order from the menu and have it ready in no time. At the end of your dining experience you flag over a worker and they count the number of plates you’ve consumed. Different color plates equals different prices. Service is great. Workers are hard-working and bust their butts to get people in and out in a timely manner especially since there’s always a line and the restaurant space itself is quite small.

The wait was long, like everyone else’s review. The quality is like genki and kuru kuru. I live in town and drove an hour in rush hour traffic to try this place and I think because of its location, it will do well. I don’t think I’d return but only because I’m passing 30 other rotary sushi places to get here. Employees are nice, extremely hard working and very professional. They manage the crowd very well, esp with large parties and crazy waits.

Sushi Bay is my favorite sushi spot on Oahu. If you are dining in, be prepared to wait a while because its always packed but well worth it. If you cant wait; they do have take out as well as phone orders. So if you need your sushi fix this is the spot. This restaurant is known for its generous offerings; when you look at all of the dishes it’s a lot more than what most places will give. Every time I come here I always get their Spicy Tuna Don as well as an order of the Hamachi Sashimi. That alone is enough to fill me up but my other favorites include the Dragon Roll as well as their Gyoza Udon.

After trying genki sushi and kuru kuru sushi, I can finally say I tried sushi bay! Despite the long drive and the long wait to be seated, it was so worth it! Their portions are unbeatable, so is their service! They were constantly checking up on us and we’re on top of it! I can’t wait till the next time I’ll come here because I’m looking forward to it just that much :) now I finally realize why so many people rave about this place.

My friend wrote her 100th review about this restaurant, so I wanted to check it out. It’s «far away» in Kapolei, so why do I want to drive 40 minutes for sushi when I can get it at Genki or Kurukuru which are similar to this conveyor belt set up? Answer: Good company, service, and portions Free parking is a bonus. The wait time is a negative. We put our name on the list and had about a 45 minute wait. This was on a Saturday at about 3:30pm. Yes — it shouldn’t be busy, but maybe everyone else has the same idea. The food was meh. My garlic ahi wasn’t «smooth». There were stringy parts that I wasn’t able to eat. My friend couldn’t eat her mussels — they were not fresh. On the bright side, my unagi was a generous size and tasty. I gobbled down the Philly Roll, Garlic Salmon, and Salmon Belly. I was hungry! Tips: Instead of taking plates from the conveyor belt, order fresh. Each color plate has a set price. Example: red plate = $ 3.25. Purple = $ 5.25. The restroom is outside, around the corner, and down the hall. Get the code to unlock the door. So — If you need a sushi fix and have time to wait for a seat, check it out. It’s just convenient for Kapolei residents who don’t want to drive to Honolulu!

Unilocalers and friends alike have asked me if I’ve been to Sushi Bay, and now I totally understand why they keep asking! It’s amazing, and totally worth the wait. Visited their infamous location in Kapolei on the Sunday before Memorial Day. I was expecting to wait anywhere from half an hour to an hour, but surprisingly my party of 5 was seated in about 30 minutes. Honolulu Elites Daniel C., Lora C., Daven H., Bobby N. and myself were really looking forward to this experience, as only a few of us had dined here before. From the look of the place, you would take it for just another conveyor belt sushi place, but lo-and-behold, take a taste of their food and it aalllll goes away! They are more than just another sushi place. Their portions are perfect; with less rice than the other guys, and lots of fish and toppings. As a non-sushi eater(«I know, I know; what kind of Japanese are you?»), my first go was at the tamago, or egg omelet nigiri. SOGOOD! It was pleasantly slightly sweet and not soggy. I also tried the chawanmushi– came out in a matter of minutes, but still nice and hot. There was chicken, imitation crab and mushrooms inside the soft custard-like egg mixture. Another one of my favorites was the unagi nigiri, SUCH a generous portion of eel– its crazy. Elite buddies Daniel and Bobby opted for the huge combo bowls– for less than $ 10, choice of two different fish. Needless to say– they loved and it were full after just that one choice. Service is quick and attentive, not only do the servers come around often, their sushi chefs also ask surrounding patrons for orders. In all, Sushi Bay lives up to their star rating! My two fears would be raised prices and smaller portions in the future. But for now, Ill be back soon!

All hail to my 100th Review! Happy that Sushi Bay gets this honor. What better place than to give it to my love of sushi. This place has been bookmarked forever on my list and sushi bay is not just any hidden gem. We all know about that long wait, 30mins to 2 hours depending on when you get there. I got there before their open time 1030am and they already had a line. Damn… Our meet time with the group was 11am. We waited about 20−30mins. Service here is very good, always checking on us and refilling water and tea. Prices for the food is so worth it! Quality of what you are paying for is like wow. If you are a fan of kuru kuru like me than you’ll like this place even better. Why? The owner here is the previous owner of Kuru kuru. Hahah.(Quote: Daven Said) The one part I didn’t like was the booth chairs are together so they move if someone behind you pushes it. And the girl who had oddly long extensions/falsies seemed to be in training when the other lady made our bills. Like excuse me you almost SLICED my eyes out handing back the ID. Watch it next time! I would definitely come back if I’m on this side.

To be honest, I seriously disliked raw fish before, but in the past two years I’ve learned to enjoy it. Lol. So let’s get to the main points, shall we… PROS: — Casual and laid back atmosphere. — The rice to fish ratio is huge. Literally, your mouth will be filled. — The prices are reasonable. — The workers are nice, and make the orders ASAP. CONS: — The wait for this place is a drag, but that’s what happens when something is in demand. The wait is usually between 30mins-2 hours. — The seats are a bit too close,(for my comfort), but who cares when you’re about to get your grub on. Lol.

Came here for an early dinner and still waited 50 minutes, which was expected. There are only 3 tables and minimal counter seating. The service was very poor, our waitress hardly checked on us and we had to flag various people down many times to help us. We ordered many plates, including fried food(chicken karaage, shrimp fry, soft shelled crab, and spicy mussels). We ordered these because we wanted them HOT, otherwise I would have just grabbed them off the belt right? Wrong, I am 100% sure they just took the chicken off the belt in the back and handed it to us because it was cold, the same for the shrimp fry. The first two soft shelled crabs were fresh and hot, came on a bed of lettuce — the third one was cold, dripping wet and soggy from who knows what? And had no lettuce? I immediately returned it and they took it of the bill. The sushi we ordered was OK, but not really worth the wait. It took them forever to get us tempura sauce because they had to make it. It was disappointing eating here. I felt like there was no consistency in quality.

Came to this place 3 times and was never able to be seated. Waited over an hour today and made the last call seating . The staff is great 5 for them. They remembered my name and used it when in conversation. My BF has a nut allergy and they were all aware and accommodating. My water and tea was always being refilled without having to ask which was great. The food-3 not that many selections with barley any crunchy rolls . Glad I finally was able to try this place out but, not sure I’ll wait that long to eat here again.

What is there to say? If you’re in the Kapolei area and craving sushi, here is your go to! There is usually a wait, but it is worth the wait. The portions are very generous and thankfully, they now have«mini don’s» available. The sashimi cuts are large too. It is a littler pricier than Genki and Kuru Kuru but it is totally worth it. This one is my favorite of the three. They have a large selection of sushi, nigiri, rolls, and dons. They are always busy so you know that the food on the belt is replaced frequently. When you order your food it comes quickly too. The staff is fairly friendly. On the day that we went one of the servers kept writing down the wrong number for table delivery and we were given the wrong sushi a few times but it wasn’t that big of a deal. They took it back and gave it to the right table. Although while that was happening, you could sense the tension between the server and sushi chef. They also have take out available, which is great if you have no time to sit down and eat!

OHEMGEE. Ive seen this place before when I was in the area. There was always a huge line. I am an impatient person, so I never gave this place a thought. Then one day my coworker talked about how it was so cheap and the huge portions so I had to try it. I decided to go one Friday lunch a little bit before 11. There was already a line. We checked in and I went over to the credit union there to open a new account. By the time we were done with getting the new account open, we only had to wait about 10 – 15 mins more before we were seated. When we got in, we were so overwhelmed we didn’t know what to get so we got everything! LOL. I remember getting the mini don bowl. It really wasn’t that mini. Their spicy bomb was sooo much better than the other guys. Their vegetable tempura was fresh and crispy and had a lot of veggies! The shrimp tempura was pretty good too. We got some kind of spicy crab on won ton and it was HUGE! There was so much filling, I didn’t think I could finish it but we did. The sushi there was so much more fresh than Genki’s. The quality seems to be better too. And the portions are most definitely bigger and I think the prices are either about the same or cheaper. When we left, I was so full. Like, past my capacity full. But it was worth it. I swore to stay away from sushi for a while and I did. We ended up going to Genki a while later and it was a disappointing experience after we had the quality of Sushi Bay. In comparison, this place is the best conveyor belt sushi place I have been to. I will most definitely be back, but will most likely take off of work to go there during the middle of a work day to avoid the line.

Location: Sushi Bay is our go to place for sushi. It’s close to home and cheap. Food: They give big portions. I get full pretty quick. Their udon combination is reasonable and my fiancé enjoys it. We’ve done take-out a few times. I wouldn’t recommend the hand rolls to go. You have to wrap it yourself and I always mess it up. Fish is fresh. Drinks: BYOB! They have soft drinks and hot tea. Parking: Many parking spots since it is located at a shopping center. Wait time: Get there early as the wait can be 15 minutes(when you get there early) to 1.5 hours. No reservations. Sign up on the clipboard inside and hang around close. When they call your party/name and you’re not there, they are on to the next party. Service: The servers and sushi makers are quick to place order and getting your food out. Not A+ service, but they get the job done. Conclusion: Definitely will come here again for takeout or sit in.

SUSHIBAY, one of Kapolei’s Gems! Everyone should know about his place! HUGE portions of sushi, with great customer service! Prices are very reasonable, and you get what you pay for, nothing less! Since everyone LOVES Sushi Bay, expect a long wait! Their shop isn’t as big as you expect it to be! There are about 3 long tables, and the rest is a wrap around of counter seating, so expect to wait if your in a big party! Wait can range from 30 min-2hrs, depends what time you go during the day! So plan well! What I usually like doing, is doing a take out order. They’re pretty fast here when it comes to take out orders! So if your in a hurry do that. They have no bathrooms inside their restaurant, so you’ll need a code to access them in the corner of the building. Their sushi is always fresh, never had a problem after eating it. All time favorite orders: Spicy Bomb, Unagi nigiri, Mix Don, and Chicken Karage!

Love coming here for kaiten sushi! Even with the traffic and long distance drive! Even with the long wait times for a seat! SERVICE: Love the service here. They are always attentive and very patient(especially when you can’t make up your mind when ordering from the menu because everything sounds so good). The waitstaff and even the chefs behind the convey belt are always asking if there is anything that you want to order(in a non pressuring way). FOOD/VALUE: Usually it is either taste or size when it comes to food, but normal not both. Which is why I love ordering the Mix Don(which is a combination of Ahi Poke and Spicy Tuna) because it is so huge that it sometimes seems like it is going to spill over the bowl that it comes in and at the same time it all tastes so great. I keep telling myself to order the mini so that I can have more room to try other things but each time I come back I look at the menu and somehow the words regular size is what comes out of mouth. Like others have said I don’t how they are able to keep the price so low. PARKING: Huge parking lot in this shopping complex so finding a spot is not a problem. Definitely can’t wait to go back already.

Is this place over-rated? «NOPE» not @ all. Is this place that good & worth the wait? «OFCOURSE» This past visit proved it, by me & my family except we didn’t get to dine at the restaurant. I stopped by Sushi Bay twice with no luck getting a table. (the long wait) & decided to eat else-where During my recent stay out in Ko’olina, I made a point to check out this place. FYI: expect a WAIT! if you see the customers waiting in front, you are at the right place. Trying to outsmart myself that night, We got here at 8 pm, thinking that it will die down, the reservations. I was wrong, there were still many people waiting for a table. The sign-in, is on your left, after you enter the restaurant. You just have to wait til they get to your name, after signing in. We waited close to an hour & when its 9pm You either make it or not, the others were turned away, my reservations & another made it, but still no guarantee After the one hour 15 mins wait, we had no luck, no table. The cashier suggest take out. Why didn’t I order take out from the beginning? I was disappointed, but this is closest to trying out Sushi Bay. We placed our order, everything was packed nicely. udon separated. & went back to our Resort to have our Sushi Bay meals. The udon set & poke bowl was very tasty! The shrimp tempura & pumpkin kabocha was very fresh & crispy! We all enjoyed our order & Yes this place does live up to the hype. The prices are reasonable & portions are bigger! I hope they expand & make Sushi Bay bigger! Sushi Bay is located at Kapolei Shopping Center between Jean’s Warehouse & Baskin Robbin. A little sushi shop between these 2 shops. Go shopping, play games on your electronic devices, talk story, the wait time will go by fast! Next visit, I will plan ahead– arrive earlier, wait for table, or just order take out. 2016 #4/Yelp 100 Challenge

Die Sashimi und Maki sind gut und frisch zubereitet. Einige Spezialitäten sind auch dabei wie Salmon-Belly und Unagi auch dabei, schmecken auch lecker. Nur zu Empfehlen!

After eating here, I now prefer Sushi Bay over Genki. The portions are much larger and the prices are cheaper.
