L&L Hawaiian BBQ

Good food, didn’t have to wait long for our order and the pork was tender and not chewy. The only thing I wish they’d do is add the Lau Lau plate to their menu like a few other L&Ls have. Other than that, it was great!(: definitely recommended. And prices may have gone up a little since the last time my family and I have eaten here. But for the most part, it’s worth it.

This is the best L&L. I’m not just saying that cause I live in the area too, but the food is better. The consistency is amazing. The customer service in person and on the phone is great. They are always pleasant when I walk in or when I call. Thank you

I call in my order and they’re always really fast with having it ready. We usually order BBQ chicken, roast pork, chicken Katsu and/​or lemon chicken and we have no complaints! Everything is always yummy!

I think this is one of the best L&Ls. It’s clean and food made fresh. It’s not like it was sitting there for hours. The worker was friendly enough. We’re not gonna be best friends but he took my order, my money, gave me my food and said thank you. I’m not expecting more than that really. I’ll be back.

I still don’t know traditional Hawaiian food when I see it, but if I were to compare this place to a real Italian restaurant it would be on par with an Olive Garden, not the mom and pops places that give you real traditional and homemade Italian-​American style tastes.
My wife and I took a look at the menu and decided to have the chicken BBQ dish. The prices are great and the food is prepared extremely fast, which I have no problem with. It’s not a bad thing, but even McDonalds gets your food together quickly, which tells you about the quality of the food.
The chicken BBQ Hawaiian style bowl came with steamed vegetables and a lot of white rice. I added some teriyaki sauce to the rice and flavored the chicken with it as well. (I’m a big fan of sauces)
If you’re in the mood for a fast food Hawaiian meal this is a good place to check out. They’ve got great prices for a variety of food and they’re pretty good portions.

If a regular BBQ chicken is 3 pieces, is a mini 1.5? Last time I got a mini I got 2 so isn’t it obvious you get 4 for a regular no? Not complaining about not getting enough food, just wondering on their method. Oh well. I’m still full.

I feel like this place doesn’t get a fair shake review wise, so pardon my interruption. Yes it’s a chain local establishment, yes it’s not Zippys and yes sometimes their workers aren’t exactly sunshine and smiles. Yet, it’s a time tested local establishment, it’s not Zippys, which I don’t mind price wise and certain dishes wise, that and it’s a take out place so I don’t need a mr or mrs happy to determine the experience my taste buds have.
This review I based on several phone orders I’ve placed for their often overlooked BURGERS, yes L&L can be known for other things than plates with rice and a side of Mac salad.
Efficiency — Every phone order I’ve attempted was always answered in less than a minute. Orders were quickly taken, repeated and my correct total was given. Food was ready to be picked up in a matter of 10 mins. Workers were very straight to the point of confirming my order. I don’t really care for extreme customer service only because my orders are to go and I don’t have to tip.
Food — There’s a teddys bigger burger a few stalls down which I enjoy as well (this is not a bashing style review people) but I actually prefer the burgers here. Burger patties are hand made and grilled just right leaving it juicy. They offer several burgers, even burgers not even on the menu. Surprisingly a Teri burger isn’t on the menu yet with a simple question of them possibly making one with their house Teri beef sauce, mission accomplished. How’s that for a ‘secret menu’ item? Woot woot. Their buns are soft and warm, if you order it deluxe, .75 more will get you generous slices of fresh and crisp tomatoes, onions a lettuce.
Price — Ordered 2 Teri cheeseburgers and a side of fries (generous portion I might add) put me in the hole for a measly $ 10 flat, tax included. Order that at teddys, it will set you back a good $ 20. I enjoy diner style, hand patted burger patties and to get that for $ 10 flat constitutes a 5 star Unilocal review.
Hold the rice, hold the mac, hold the sometimes unrealistic expectation reviews and enjoy that surprisingly good burger and price.

This place is so horrible I ordered garlic chocked what I got was chicken with garlic in a soup of oil they rushed on my food and I felt really sick after eating there don’t ever go to the on in kapolei!!!

I use to order a large pan of garlic Mahi mahi which cost about $ 97 bucks. At first the portion was good, now they add more cabbage on the bottom to make it look like it’s a full pan. I recently order 2 large pan for a family dinner which total of 20… and boy was I disappointed!!! I barley fed 20 people!!! I am so disappointed… They raise their prices and lower its portion. I use to be loyal to this L&L, and I gotta admit its hard now a days to find a GOOD tasty L&L…when they first open food use to taste so good, NOW I don’t know what to say…

Came in for early lunch. Craving some katsu. Ordered 2 plates and order up was pretty quick. Place was clean. Parking was good because it was about 1030a. Foods pretty good. Ordered a chicken katsu and a mini BBQ chicken. green salad.

I ordered a quick light soup in a hurry and ordered a regular «Aloha Saimin.» This is the first time I ordered this and was expecting a regular soup. Their «Aloha Saimin» is awesome!!! There’s a lot of chicken, and one fried egg and amazing taste and great smell to the broth for $ 5.95!!! Definitely I will recommend and will definitely order it again. The location is also great.

this place really lost its touch from the first time they opened. ordered Saimin and fries and it wasn’t all that great. they use to cut up the spam but now they just throw the whole piece spam in there. like wth?! and then they refried their fries. who does that?! talk about being chang cha-​chang chang chang.

The food itself is hot and delicious. But the customer service is lacking.

Called in an order of a small pan of chicken katsu. They told me it should be about 15 – 20 minutes. I arrived 30 minutes later and they told me that they were too busy to cook my order but if I could wait about 20 mins, they could cook it now. Plus that also mentioned that they ran outta Katsu sauce. Why the heck would I want to order it now? It’s supposed to be ready??? Never coming back to this location ever!

There’s another L&L Hawaiian BBQ in Kapolei, highly recommend that one! You will get much better customer service and food. The worst thing about this location is the customer service. The cashier has a very unfriendly face and to top it off, an attitude to match. She was rude the minute we got to the counter. Basically rolled her eyes since we didn’t know right away what we wanted to get. She was short with us when we ordered and never once smiled or said anything nice or good. Plus, it was hard to understand her. She had a heavy Chinese accent. We were happy to finally leave after taking our food to go. To make matters worse, the macaroni salad was spoiled. After one spoonful, it felt strange. Then when I went to smell it, it had a sour odor. Needless to say, we chucked it in the trash.
This place isn’t worth your money or your health. The establishment would improve significantly if they hired a new cashier or teach the existing one some customer skills. Highly doubt the latter may work. She needs a major Aloha Overhaul! Saving money is fine, but not at the expense of your customers. Learn how to properly store your food. Macaroni salad has mayo in it. It seems like a family owned franchise. Even so, happy customers are important to the vitality of your business considering they can easily go elsewhere. Just because it’s a well known chain, doesn’t mean people have to eat there. Kapolei is full of food options. Smell your food before you eat it!

Rather clean compared to most L&Ls, but the cashier is very rude. In less than 10 mins she managed to roll her eyes a good half a dozen times when speaking to customers.

Food seems like any other l&l. I think the server was just rude in a «I don’t speak English» way. I just shrug it off. She would repeat my order and I wouldn’t understand her. 0:)
My friends family owned a Chinese restaurant. When his mom would speak English her accent would make it seem like she was yelling when she really wasn’t.

Ofcourse I am super bias on which L&L location I love the most (which is Pearl City if you have not heard me rave about it, since ofcourse I wrote a review about how much I loveeee them!) haha
But anyways, since we were at a event in Makaha, and our boy was starving & craving for MEAT (b/​c he is such a carnivore) we ended up coming into Kapolei and stopping by Kapolei L&L which is across from Foodland, which is not a bad location, it looks small from the outside, but when you enter, it’s pretty spacious & they keep the area clean which is a plus. The cashier seemed friendly & we did not have to wait long for our sons order to be called to grab. He ordered a steak special (medium well) with 2 scoops of rice & ofcourse the regular Mac salad (which he does not eat but his Mama ended up eating it & said they had tuna mixed in with the Mac salad which she thought was pretty good) never ask me because I just absolutely HATE Mac salad period! I’m more of a potato kind of girl lol the plate seemed good, especially if your 9 year old scarfed everything with a satisfied look on his face haha.
My wife & I ended up ordering the «Saimin Burger» that we wanted to try for awhile, and well it didn’t look like the picture it shown outside the door… I mean most places the picture can deceive you to the point you order it and you look down on your plate with disappointment… ha well so did the Saimin Burger… it was just too oily for my taste, but the Terri patty saved the burger itself, only because it had taste… wish the patty was bigger, but whatever it was just a random order, we wanted to try it so that’s my thoughts on it… meaning I will probably not order it again LOL!
Overall, it was better then most of the other locations (besides Pearl City) that I have been to! So no complaints here! Just keep away from… yea that Saimin burger I mean unless your feeling adventurous & have $ 6 to throw away LOL!

This restaurant is located next to the new Foodland. It is in a new building in this area with tons of parking.
Cleanliness:
The restaurant is clean and tidy.
Promptness:
I phone ordered a «medium» size tray of chicken katsu for 4pm pickup. I came by ten minutes after 4pm and it was still not ready. I wasn’t too upset since it’s suppose to be for dinner at 5pm.
Ordering By Phone:
It’s helpful if you already know how to order it such as the different size trays. The trays go by half pan, small pan and full pan. I think I ordered the small pan but they failed to inform me on how to order the trays.
Overall, I don’t mind coming back in the future since it’s in a great location for me.

I’m a big fan of L&L’s katsu chicken, especially with curry sauce. It’s so good! I saw a curry loco moco which I’ll try next time. You can also ask for extra curry sauce. I thought I would have to pay extra, but nope (maybe the worker felt generous that day).
Service — just opened so the staff are friendly and helpful. Hopefully it doesn’t change.
Location — on Kapolei Parkway in the same complex with Foodland. Like I always mention about this area: «.location is great, but parking is tight — very tight. Expect small dings when you get back to your car. Please don’t be one of those cars that take up two stalls.»
