Very nice staff. But food was not so great. Meat in loco moco was very dry. Saimin was average. Pancakes were the only good thing. We tried the Mac nut and bananas. Can’t mess up pancakes. Overall good service but average food

just finished having our meal here and it was just ok. just be sure you have the waitress read back your order and make sure that you are charged for only what you ordered. they charged us for a full order of loco moco wen we only got half, and we got charged a full order of hamburger steak wen we only ordered half. they were arguing with us at the register that they gave us what we ordered wen they clearly did not. the main problem here is that there are multiple people helping the same table so they all dont know who got wat. this is a cash only establishment so be careful with those charges.

Price[4]: Low prices(Cash Only) Breakfast Food[1.5]: — Batter based food(pancakes etc.) Not cooked through — Coffee, weak and tasteless — Meat products, very good Staff[2] — A couple order mistakes and problems fixing them — Very nice and apologetic — Did not remove the coffee charge after return Cheap«hole-in-the-wall» if you want that. Not a «hidden gem»

My noodle soup was good but the American breakfast here is not good. If you want authentic Asian food, come here. If you want bacon & eggs, go somewhere else.

Decided to come here for breakfast this morning and what a treat it was. The homemade corn beef hash was all the rave. I would come here again just for that! The staff was super friendly and the food came very quickly.

Service was friendly, but coffee was bad and only powdered creamer, macadamia pancakes were plentiful and good but the lonely fried egg thrown on top and the overall low budget décor wouldn’t make this a must on my list in the future. Prices as elsewhere in HI were high.$ 15 for a simple breakfast.

This is a perfect mom and pop restaurant. Food is great. Some hawaiian and local dishes to choose from. Convenient location in Kapaa town.

Good home cooked Hawaiian food with an Asian twist. Food: Great for brunch and breakfast. I had Mahi mahi w/fried rice and eggs, banana pancakes with bacon, eggs and Portuguese sausage Price: Very reasonable Service: Aloha with a smile. Friendly Asian ladies with sass Ambiance: Its not the four seasons but that’s ok. Take your first date somewhere else, unless she doesn’t care about the bells and whistles

We were excited to come back to this familiar restaurant that’s been around forever. Had the loco moco and my friend had the chicken cutlet and hamburger steak mix plate. They forgot the chicken cutlet, though it did show up on the receipt at the end — which we had to correct. Waitress just shrugged when I mentioned the mistake. The highlight of the meal was the complimentary chili pepper vinegar.

Ate here on our last day on this island(12-28-2015). We first went to the Indian restaurant next door(Shivalik). I did not see anything really special on the menu and decided on this place for an early brunch. This was probably the FRESHEST«hole in the wall» place i dined at in all of Hawaii. The ONOFISH was incredible. it flaked away so softly, i really wish i could visit again really soon. The fish was so good that for the rest of the trip on the other islands too i tried the ONO there as well.(HIGHLYRECOMMEND: «THEFISHMARKET» in MAUI. The price of this place is really cheap. The service was very prompt, there was one lady on the stove in the back and one lady serving. The total meal(I got ono fish and hamburger steak) was about $ 7. It came with a HEAPING amount of fried rice. If you order their lunch special, make sure you have someone to split the rice with, the portion was gigantic. The hamburger steak was Ok, just a regular hamburger cooked to well done with some gravy on top. If i go back to visit Hawaii in the future i will be stopping by this great breakfast/brunch/lunch spot. MYTAKE: i would go eat here before going sightseeing to the canyons or going hiking. It will keep you full while you are doing your activity. For the price and quality of food, this place ranks in my top 3 for places on Kauai Island in Hawaii.

This was my first brunch meal in Hawaii, and it was pretty nice with the diner feel and all. I was excited to try the loco moco, since reviews mentioned it was a very local restaurant. Being from Ohio, the meat patty quality was a bit disappointing, but the service was great. We also got one of their noodle soup dishes which was very good and reminded me a bit of home. It wasn’t a bad brunch, but I think overall, the food was a bit underwhelming, for we were pretty hungry, too.

For a truly local cultural experience eat here! The fish, rice and eggs were so tasty I kept stealing bites off my husband’s plate. It’s a great breakfast and great value! I love their rice. The only negative was the meat quality on the loco moco. They have good green tea and their menu is really worth a try to learn about local eats. Just note that we are the«when in Hawaii do as the Hawaiians do» types. That’s our kind of adventure. Tip: It’s cash only.

We came here on our first morning in Kauai, Hawaii. Their loco Moco and Mau Mau with eggs were highly recommended by our friends. It wasn’t easy to find this place via GPS and we got lost in the mall nearly until we finally found it. All customers were local at this restaurants. I do enjoy the Mau Mau with eggs. It is basically pork that was cooked in banana leafs and it was serve with white rice. I have to admit that this meal was a bit too heavy for me. I was full from 7:30am until 2pm. Nevertheless, I enjoy the food and will order that again. My friend also enjoyed his loco Moco that he tried for the first time. I’ll definitely come back here again for breakfast. If you get tired of paying too much food at the resort and wants to explore local breakfast? This is the place to be.

This is our first time dinning at this restaurant while visiting the island. Service: very slow. We ordered coffee and it never came and had to ask for it. Food: we ordered eggs, bacon and pancake. Pancake was not that good… tasted like the same from McDonald’s. The beef stew was not that good. It was too salty. Coffee was not good either. Parking: plenty of parking

Sorry, not impressed. We stopped in for a late lunch, saw what the guys next to us were having and decided to try the same thing, which was a platter with tempura shrimp and chicken katsu. The tempura seemed like it had been made much earlier in the day. It was tepid, mushy and mostly tempura batter(shrimp was minuscule). Chicken katsu was dried out and heavily breaded. We pulled off all the breading from each dish and had a mountain of cold wet mush to throw away. Also tried the won ton soup which was actually pretty good. At least it was served hot! If we go back, we may try breakfast instead. The reviews for the pancakes look pretty good.

Most of the food that my boyfriend and I had was good, but average. Macadamia nut pancake was tasty, bacon was fatty and soaked in grease, coffee was weak, and Vienna sausages were on point. The kalua pork omelette, though, was stellar! I couldn’t stop eating, long past when I was full. The service was nice, and the place seemed full of locals. Perhaps there are other items on the menu that the locals really rave about.

We decided to head out for lunch today in search of a local diner and I think we found one of the localist(is that a word?) diners imaginable. The service was great, although pretty slow, which we have found to be the norm for Kauai(the slow part that is). VERY local menu that offers a great variety therefore satisfying most Islanders and tourists alike. The prices were pretty reasonable although I’m pretty sure I was overcharged on at least one item. There was a mystery charge of $ 1.25 that had no explanation. But, hell, the entire bill wasn’t itemized at all, so I’m not even sure it was even mine now that I think about it. Oh well, I’m on vacation. I’ll count it as part of the tip. The food was good. My mushroom and Swiss burger was excellent. My wife’s chicken teriyaki plate was good, but just a tad bit salty. Their fries were crispy and wonderful. If you’re looking for a gourmet meal … head elsewhere ’cause this ain’t it. But if you want local comfort food, you’ll find it here. Bring CASH. Incredible, I know, but, yes, a business can be successful without taking plastic. But they DO take checks(local banks only I’m sure), CRAZYRIGHT??? We’re looking forward to giving their breakfast menu a shot before heading home. They also sell a few locally made sweet treats if you’re looking for gifts to bring back home.

Excellent spam-and-eggs with two scoops of rice, and weak coffee — nice timeless diner-style food. Faded middle-school sports team pictures on the wall, some very strange homemade corned-beef hash, and lots of macadamia nut items on the menu round out the experience. I wouldn’t come here looking for a latte, but I’ll be back for the spam-and-eggs.
