Okay, so although this store is beautiful inside and contains many items that are great for either home cooking and even professional cooking, it has many drawbacks. I will list the the positives that give this store three stars and then I will provide my rationale for taking away two stars. Positives: First, the store is extremely clean. Second, the store has a nice selection of various kitchen tools that can be difficult to find in other stores. Third, the store has a nice collection of odd and ends; such as, multiple selections of different types of artisanal salts, a wide selection of artisanal oils, herbs, and other dry food item. Lastly, I found a jar of sliced black summer truffles in oil that I purchased, and with the addition of this jar of truffles to my potato purée made the purée absolutely heavenly! Negatives: First, THEPRICES, everything here is way way way overpriced! I purchased a small cheese knife, for the mere price of $ 40…too much(although the cheese knife was nice). Second, my last visit here was not great in terms of the service. I had to search for a worker for roughly 15 minutes until I was able to get my question answered…(which was done professionally and politely). In summary, if there is a specific kitchen item that you desperately need and are unable to find elsewhere then perhaps you may enjoy going here. If money is not a problem in your life and you enjoy cooking at home, I truly believe that this store would be of great value to you. As for me, I will only go here when I am in need of an item I cannot locate anywhere else or something I need quite fast, as I live near the Plaza.

Best customer service I have had at any store… Hands down! I came in for hostess gifts and the woman helping me(Sue I think she said her name was) was AMAZING! She quickly helped me put together gifts and wrapped each one beautifully. I seriously would have spent hours on this if it wasn’t for her. I would recommend going here to anyone, especially if you need help getting a gift!

There is an employee here, young, thin with short, greasy hair held back by a filthy headband who was not only extremely rude but appeared disheveled, and was easily flustered. She was not aware as to how to order a gift card as part of a promotion or how to NOT eat while doing her job. Her exact statement ” I don’t know how to do this — I just can’t «then immediatly proceeded to walk over to the stove adjacent to the register and put a spoonful of something in her mouth right there in front of me as I stood in from of the register in disbelief. Disgusting behavior. Note to that particular employee: If you are not able to compose yourself like an adult where lemon pressers go upwards of 20 dollars and gummy bears for a whooping 13 dollars– then don’t work here — ESPECIALLY not around the holidays. Luckily, one silly monkey doesn’t spoil the show. Everyone else there was polite, helpful, and most importantly well mannered.

This place is OK. I prefer Sur La Table. This store is exactly the kind of over-priced, thinly stocked store you might expect to be on the Plaza. I have not found a single useful item here. The wife does like some of their over-priced sauces that they tempt you with by sampling. Some of the exact same items can be found cheaper at Sur La Table.

I have bought kitchen stuff(pots, pans, gadgets, appliances, you-name-it) from Williams-Sonoma since they primarily a catalog company. I have purchased in stores throughout the US as I travelled. I loved the KCMO store until my last visit. The sales lady was not only not helpful, but downright rude. Fortunately, Sur la Table is just around the corner. Don’t patronize this overpriced store unless you want to be ignored & mistreated.

I’m with Jennifer J… this place it’s dangerous to your bank balance. LOL The Shun cutlery alpine could break me. But I love the gadgets and their Turkish cotton kitchen towels. Color me addicted.

Like the selection, but hate demeanor of the rich should be housewives that work at this location. Their prices are always much high compared to Sur La Table which is just a couple blocks away. At Sur La Table they will treat you with a little respect too, they must understand you don’t need to be a pretentious uppity whore to have a love for food. At this Williams Sonoma location they do not treat you with much respect unless your decked out in a full Burberry ensemble. Sadly, I bought my vast collection of knives before Sur La Table opened, wish I would have known they were going to be opening, I have left WS so many times in disgust of how I was treated even after I spent a few hundred dollars on a couple knives. Just this past weekend I wanted a creuset 3.5 qt covered saucier, found it $ 100 cheaper at Sur La Table… Also, check out Pryde’s in Westport, they have a nice selection, but sometimes their prices are outta line too. They still treat you better, even if you are just a lowly young professional living in the plaza that likes to cook.

I’d been looking to up my game in the whoopie pie baking department. They tasted great, but the presentation of them made my whoopies look a little wonky and, potentially, a little less desirable. I looked into whoopie pie pans, but I kind of thought they were cheating. And then I just decided I was being stubborn. After researching the various whoopie pie pans on the market, I decided to go with Williams-Sonoma’s pans. But me being a bit of an instant gratification freak, I wanted them right away. So, i called the Williams-Sonoma at the Plaza because it’s closest to me. The store clerk I spoke with said they did indeed have whoopie pie pans in stock. Brilliant. I immediately jumped in my car and buzzed over. I walked into the store and immediately wanted to buy about a million things because that’s what happens at these store. But I resisted. I easily found my whoopie pie pans. I opted to purchase two. A store clerk saw me with them as I browsed and asked if I was the one who called about the pans. I said I had. She then tried to sell me the whoopie pie mix, which was nice of her. But I declined. I do want to say that these pans baked the whoopie pies evenly and were a great buy! If you need some cookbooks or kitchen gadgets, this is one of a few places I recommend going. You also can pick up some nice sanding sugar and rose water.

Pretty standard Williams-Sonoma with enough new necessities to make Martha Stewart jealous of your kitchen. I’m currently enjoying the Star Wars theme that runs through many of the breakfast items. Great selection of stuff you probably don’t need, but can convince yourself you want bad enough to purchase! Great location in the Plaza. Situated just across from the river that boasts a number or cutesy bridges that provide good photo ops with your new kitchen sundry items.

One of my favorite places to browse on the Plaza is Williams-Sonoma. The products are kind of pricey, so there is always a hint of disappointment at not being able to purchase everything I want, but heck, I can live with the dismay at not being able to buy out the whole store. Great cookware and gadgetry, and some very nice dishware and serving pieces. I am also quite a fan of the hot pads and aprons here.

I could easily go broke here. Even if your not a cook, you should go in and check out some of their gourmet food items and you will at least look like you know your way around a kitchen.
