Ugh. The first time I visited was fairly uneventful, my waitress was inattentive, but it was busy, so I didn’t mind. The second time it was dead, it took 10 minutes to be acknowledged by anyone, and when I ordered my spinach dip(which comes frozen in little individual cups), they brought it to me only slightly microwaved and I had to send it back so they could heat it enough to not still be frozen. Waitress was terrible. Luckily I’m never in the area so I don’t really care if I never go back.

Some nights here you wonder if they spend more keeping all those lights in the window than they do keeping drinks supplied. Other nights it’s crowded as can be. They always seem to have tallboy specials and cheap margaritas on hand. Monday tacos at 75 cents these days, still worth it. I’d go for the burnt end sandwich otherwise. There is a small area roped off outside if you like to smoke while you drink, but most people tend to stay near the bar itself inside. The bathrooms are definitely a «That’s weird. Ehh, I’m ok with this.» situation with two toilets right up against each other for the guy’s room. Still probably not the most uncomfortable you’ve been in a bar bathroom, lets be honest.

Bar tender totally rude. Acted annoyed when customers came in… At 1:15 am. You’re open until 3, don’t act like customers coming in almost 2 hours before you closed annoys you. CLOSEEARLYNEXTTIME. Don’t even get me started on the kitchen. Won’t be going back here.

I’ve been here 2 times now, the first time being just okay at best but I always give places a second chance. The second time however, was worse than the first. The first time I had a burger which was really dry and the server barely came back to refill drinks. This time the server came back to the table WAY too much. I’m a server somewhere else myself and I can always tell when people are agitated with me coming back to the table. It literally was every 2 minutes she would come up and ask if we were ok. Yes let me chew my food, which was a salad with chicken. The chicken had absolutely no seasoning and it was super dry. The margaritas were inconsistent some being extremely strong, others seeming to have no tequila at all. The owner is always very friendly though so one of those stars are just for him

I go here frequently because I work across the street. A bit dirty, A bit divey, but a good place for a drink and snack on a budget. The service has always been quick(seriously– take note of how quickly they take your empty cups) and their food is decent. Anything that comes out of the deep frier is good enough, but I tend to avoid everything else because there are better options.

Didn’t eat here but we did drink! Fun place and overall great vibe. Very much a fun dive bar.

Great place! This is a dive bar. I thought otherwise when I first passed by, given the front window display, but it is a glorious dive bar! They seem to carry the entire Boulevard line, as well as the most popular domestics. Great tacos on Monday for 75 cents. I’m sure the other specials are equally good. Wait staff are attentive and friendly, so this is a must go if you are down. Nice place to hang out.

The old man people speak of was very nice. The staff was very very attentive, and the steak special was good. Not great, but good. Was more like a Chinese buffet strak, but thicker and lacked flavor, bit they did cook it as requested, which is for some odd reason hard to do. Seems like a good place to go and hang out with friends. Atmosphere is bar like, but seemed to be family friendly. I expected to see corn hole somewhere. Not 5 stars because of lack of flavor on the food I got.

PLEASEREAD! To preface, I rarely give a negative Unilocal review. Only should the experience be a complete disaster do I deem it necessary to troll a restaurant. Nor do I hold any relation to the group of customers spoken about in this post. Completely unbiased, third party review here. That being said, this particular experience I’m reviewing the Quaff for was an absolutely DISGUSTING display of disrespect towards a few potential customers. Following the Royals parade/rally, we were standing in line waiting to get into the Quaff. There were plenty of tables still available inside(we could see them through the windows), yet the Quaff’s management was unwilling to seat the couple next in line because their small child was crying. The mother tried to explain to the door man in a calm, collected manner that it was simply because the child was hungry and needed fed. The door man still refused them entrance, even to simply sit down at one of the many open tables and feed the child. The bar manager then got involved and proceeds to call the police after the husband of the child voiced a single opinion towards their lack of compassion(it was not calm, but not out of line either). The police show up and proceed to insist the manager can serve who they want, as it’s their establishment, and that those involved need to leave. As the couple is leaving, the bar manager who was a older, grey haired gentlemen, proceeds to shove the woman out the door. Again, the police officer does nothing. Zero compassion shown. Unbelievable lack of management skills and respect were exemplified. After seeing this unbelievable disrespect towards the patrons that support this bar’s very existence, I will make it a point to ensure a single penny of mine, or my friends(who have frequented here plenty in the past), NEVER makes its way into the Quaff’s hands. I hope you’d consider the same as the management of this establishment are absurd human beings, and don’t deserve any benefits of our collective business. You should be ashamed, Quaff management. Those were your fellow Kansas Citians you turned your back on.

This place is «The Cheers of KC!» Everyone knows your name and the service is AMAZING! My favorite is the Baja Burger but there are soooo many good choices! This bar deserves 10 stars! I LOVE the Quaff. Best bar in Kansas City!

While visiting KC, Sunday afternoon of the NFL Season Openers my friend & I decided to stop into the Quaff for some food and football. The atmosphere is very sports friendly. The wait staff are very kind when you walk in. My reason for the low stars was due to the wait time we experienced when it came to our food. It took over half an hour for our food to come and we weren’t given any sort of follow up or apologies during the time we waited.

This is my bi-weekly spot for steak now! It would be weekly, but my job prevents me from doing so. I’ve came here before on a few ocassions and loved it. Service, food, and drinks are all wonderful here. Sadly, not until recently I came here on Steak Night(Wedsendays 5−10pm). I can’t gush enough how heavenly their 12 oz KC Strip is. The flavor, the looks of pleasure on my face from their heavenly juicy heavenly steak. I can’t get enough. YOUMUSTHAVETHEIRSTEAK! This steak is so good it’d make a vegetarian question their life choices. It’s that good.

The quaff is always my go to restaurant. It’s casual, fun, and smells like it was built in 1975. The food is great and the drinks are better. You can’t forget about DJ E. However, I did hear that he has set mixtapes so when you request songs, he doesn’t really play them.(Can someone confirm or deny that please?) Anyways, the waitresses are great and constantly checking on you. This place is definitely a KC dive bar with so much to offer.

I have lived in KC for over 15 years yet this was my first visit to The Quaff. I think the abundance of beer signs in the windows just screamed that it wasn’t a place for me. Some friends wanted dinner before a show and suggested The Quaff. I didn’t argue. First off, the prices are great. I don’t know if it is a typical special, a Sunday special, or what, but the $ 3 margarita was decent and plentiful. Sandwiches are priced well too. I ordered a Rueban and it was under $ 8, cheap in the current world of $ 12 sandwiches! Not the best Rueban in the city, but not bad. They have various options besides fries which is always a plus for me. Service was ok, maybe a little overbearing. The Quaff probably wouldn’t be my place to pick if meeting up with people, but if others wanted to go, I wouldn’t object.

I’m a big fan of the Quaff, cheap drinks, pool tables, large venue, and pretty good food. The drinks… that’s the most important part, right? Inexpensive is probably the key here. After work you can come here and grab a large Coors for 3.50, can’t go wrong with that. A whole night here won’t hurt you nearly as badly as going a mile down to the P&L. The venue and service… I’ve never had any problems with the service here. I’m not sure how the parking situation is(typically have always walked here). It’s a spacious place, but on certain nights it’ll be packed. Overall… will definitely be here again!

This place is what it is. It’s a rather large sports bar with a college feel and all the games one would expect at a sports bar with all the TVs one would expect at a sports bar. Drink specials? Yep. Low-key atmosphere? Yep. Bar food? Oh, yes, lots of greasy, fried, salsa-out-of-a-jar-poured-into-a-styrofoam-cup bar food. I’m personally not a fan of sports bars. But this place is always busy. I was here with a girlfriend at 10pm on a Friday night and there were lots of groups of young/mid-20s all wearing their Royals Blue and drinking beer. It’s that kind of bar. But they have good specials, fast waitstaff and it’s clean. If you want a run-of-the-mill sports bar in downtown KC and want to avoid P&L, this would be it.

I’ve been drawn to check out The Quaff like a moth to a bug zapper, with all their stacked neon lights and downtown location. I finally checked it out over the holidays and it felt like such an odd spot. There was a copious amount of space but probably only 25 people in the bar. Despite it being an off night, they had a DJ setting up to an empty room and what I think was his manager marching around in a shoulder-to-toe faux-fur coat. One of my friends got some nachos and they kind of reminded me of what someone would make at home if they were nearly out of ingredients. Just sort of pieced together with melted shredded cheese over them. I have to say I always enjoy having the shuffleboard table and darts, so it’s got that going for it, but I think I’ll keep on driving past all the neon lights the next time I’m out and about.

Tried to go in for Royals game, but the door guy said they were at «capacity» Waited around to see 4 girls easily get in door within 5 minutes. They had not been inside previously. I’m taking my business elsewhere, thank you. This may be a landmark, but with the attitude of the people that work there. I’m going to give my money to some other establishment *Response to manager/business owner-* Your response doesn’t make me feel better about the situation, or make me want to go back in. It 14 months for the business to respond and considering the attitude of the owner/manager in the response, I can only assume the business doesn’t really care about my gripe. I think it demonstrates clearly the attitude at this establishment. Also, I didn’t try to go in on game 7 of World Series. In fact, I never stated when I tried to go into the business, at all, just that it was a Royals game. I was never asked by the business owner when it was, either. If they had taken the time to read my review it would have been clear. The business is free to contact me directly, and I will update Unilocal on their response, if any.
