Let me start by saying that you must order the truffle curds… so light and airy. Hummus was also tasty. Ordered the old standard killer fried chicken sandwich, crispy, moist and delicious. Friendly staff, cool patio area, wide selection of beers.

We stopped in here because I was wanting either fried pickles or zucchini fries and this menu had both. I was a little disappointed that this place was a pretty traditional bar scene, once again complete with music from my senior year of high school. I half expected the thong song to start playing and the music wasn’t far off. The fries were decent, although a little sweeter than I would have liked them to be. The patio was full of smokers, which wasn’t a surprise, but it sucked to be around all of the second hand smoke. Service was pretty average if not a bit below average, but some the menu offerings were definitely a step above traditional bar food, so I bumped this review from a 2 star to a 3 star.

It’s a descent place for the beers. Staff is friendly. A better night bar than a place to have lunch. The food is overpriced for the quality. I got the wings and they charged me $ 16 for 12. That’s got to be the highest price in the entire city of KC. The wings were u see cooked. The skin was rubbery and the sauce was as generic as you can get. The Peanut is cheaper and the wings are easily 10 times better.

My boyfriend and I used to love The Foundry. It was our favorite place to eat and we were constantly begging our friends to join us. We went about once a week and the waiters even knew our orders. The menus was PERFECT! Plenty of deals and happy hour specials, and the items that were a bit pricey were worth the extra bucks. Recently they changed the menu completely! All of our favorite foods were either taken off and replaced by sad counterparts, or the serving size was cut to half and the price went way up. We are honestly disappointed we lost our favorite restaurant and won’t be going back. The only reason I gave two stars is because those buffalo tots can’t be beat. Just sad I won’t ever eat them again :(

I have mixed feelings about the Foundry. First off, I’m traveling through KC and decided to stop here, so I’ve only been once. Service was kind of slow. Not enough to complain, but noticeable. I did show up by myself around 10 pm, so that likely has a lot to do with it. I got the all-nighter burger and a hog pound brown. The burger was on the expensive side for what you get,(sides are separate) but it did taste great. The beer was good. I may have left a three star review, but they redeemed themselves with the bread pudding for dessert. I’m a bit of a snob with my bread pudding, but theirs was just about the best I’ve had at a restaurant. Ambiance was great too and the restaurant was clean. If I’m back in this part of town again, I may come back and give them another shot.

Been a fan of the Foundry for a long time. Been there a LOT, and there’s lots to like — the menu was(was) huge, the beers are craft and cold. The service is young and hip w/out being jerky like Lulu’s and places of similar ilk. HOWEVER — their menu changed recently. No big sin, I get it, and, we committed to trying them several more times in order to give the new format a fair shake. And I’ve come away rather unimpressed. The salads are now tiny. The vegan pizza(which was my favorite go-to item) is inconsistent and lame now(crust was particularly uninspiring, based on my last visit — the third since the new menu came out). This last time we also tried the blistered pepper w/cauliflower plus parmesan small plate as well, and while it was not«send-back-worthy», it also was NOT of the quality I had been used to at the Foundry. I’ll likely be back a couple more times, but suffice it to say, I’m saddened, and their«stock» is falling w/me.

I’ve been going to the Foundry, and McCoy’s, for years and have always enjoyed their food and the Hogpound Brown. They recently changed their menu and now the selection is smaller and more expensive. And they’ve started doing the thing where nothing comes with a side, but the price has remained the same. I’m sure I’ll still go in for a beer, but the food isn’t good enough to justify the price.

OHNOYOUFOOLS!!! welp, there goes my favorite place in Westport, now where am I going to go? seriously, the owners just completely redid their menu and got rid of everything that I liked to order, so there’s no real reason for me to go back ever again. F that Foundry. F that!

This place used to be a favorite of mine, however when they let go of who I feel to be their best cook, the food has gone down hill from there. I give them 3 stars cause the beers still great, but that’s about it.

My friends and I came to The Foundry as part of a 21st birthday celebration. We were all excited to try their Jungle Juice($ 26) with its promise of it being served in a ‘wacky-tacky tiki pitcher with party glasses’. Honestly, for that price we were expecting the pitcher to be a bit bigger than it actually was. We were also a bit disappointed in the lack of party glasses(we were really looking forward to them, lol) and glasses in general since we were only given straws, but the juice was yummy. We all ordered a bit of food. I got a han solo(6 wings) order of the Hiroshima wings($ 9) and thought they were pretty good. My friends ordered the buffalo tots($ 8) and two of their burgers. The tots were yummy and my friends said that their burgers were pretty good also. I ordered the Scooby Snack shooter($ 5) for the birthday girl and I, and we both agreed that it was delicious. We got lucky and didn’t have to wait to be seated. It was a bit noisy but that was to be expected. The service was a bit slow. Overall our experience wasn’t too bad; I’d definitely come back again to try their other food and drink options. tl;dr? Food: *****(5 stars) Service: ****(4 stars) Atmosphere: ****(4 stars) Wait: ****(4 stars) Return? Yup

C’mon it’s your typical pub with crafted beers, you can’t go wrong! To be honest, I usually only come here to try out random beers and eat finger goods with a good group of friends or on a fun relaxing date night. If you been to McCoy’s you pretty much been to The Foundry– Over a shit load of beers you can’t go way man! Play the Beer game and have fun trying out the different kinds from all over! It’s a hit or miss, and not gonna lie, I had some funky one! But that’s okay because they have a LOT more to try! It’s a have fun feel and outside seating is amazing! Especially in the summer! Out of towners if you lookin for place to hang but don’t wanna go to the clubs, come here! seriously, you won’t be disappointed.

Had the beer battered fish and chips. While the fish(tilapia) was very good and tender and hot… it was also over battered. But that is my ONLY complaint. Unfortunately it brought them to a 4 star instead of 5. Wifey had the lamb burger with this yogurt sauce on top. Tender and juicy not over cooked. We opened with the frickles. Spicy battered pickles and fries which was very good. NICK our server was very attentive and insured no glasses went dry.

I usually don’t write reviews but today I am. My friends and I were looking for a quick bite and a few drinks from a place we haven’t been before. Prior to this visit I had been there before but didn’t stay long enough to really get a feel for this place. So we get there the bouncer or whoever he thought he was was SOOO rude. He thought my REAL missouri ID was fake, then proceeded to show people and said it was a «crappy lining» and that«he’d been doing this since the 90s and has never seen one like that» boyyy if you don’t get ya big«I’ve been working since the 90s butt on somewhere. I was pissed. I’ve gotten pulled over plenty of times and the police never say anything about my ID. I think he just didn’t want my friends and I to eat there or he’s just an asshole. The food was good though. Nothing special. There are many other places to choose from in Westport that are priced the same with just as much food on the menu.

Unlike McCoy’s or Char House, Foundry really is open until the hours it says on Unilocal. And is still serving food. Good food. And great beer selection. Go here.

Pretty darn good food and beer selection. A lot of vegetarian and vegan options if you’re into that. It’s nice to have more than one option a menu so I definitely appreciate that about the Foundry. It gets a little chilly in the winter – the doors are really drafty from the entrance and the patio. Definitely prefer going here more in the summer.

I have visited The Foundry twice while in Kansas City and each time it has been a solid place to grab a beer. The drink menu while not huge, it does consist of a wide variety of beers, many of which are local to the region. On my most recent trip I stopped in while waiting for a table to open up across the street at Beer Kitchen for dinner. While I was only at The Foundry for about an hour I was able to sample a full glass, and a pour(small glass) of another beer. The Foundry is the perfect type of place for hanging out with some friends or just unwinding after work for a casual happy hour. There are pool tables which seemed to be popular, there is also an outside patio area which is popular during the summer. The bathroom area here is unique, with both the men and women having their own restroom, yet sharing a communal sink which is right around a corner from some of the booths… odd. Prices seemed a little high, for two beers and two pours(½ glass) the bill was $ 20. It wasn’t outrageously overpriced however it came down to basically 3 beers, so I was expecting something closer to $ 15, again not a big deal but be aware. Anyways I will probably return next time I am in town, glad to see they even had a fair amount of St. Louis beers available on tap too!

I usually am ok with this place during the day but at night it turns in to a sh$t show… the bartenders cant handle the volume and can’t help but yell rudely at good paying customers. We came to get late night bites and were greeted by zero servers(despite the«5 people on the floor») as well as the bartender practically throwing a menu at us after claiming the kitchen was closed(30 min earlier than noted by the restaurant).

My friends and I stopped by here for a few drinks on a Saturday. I don’t know why but I’m always a sucker for beer flights(and I don’t even really like beer that much). I guess it’s the cute presentation in the little glasses that always reel me in. I like the vibe of the place, too. And, they have cool(and clean) restrooms which is always a plus for a restaurant/drinking establishment.

Attached to McCoy’s and probably same owners as Beer Kitchen across the street. These three bars make the Westport trendy neighborhood the place to be for beer in KC. Foundry has a trendier, modern atmosphere. Larger, varied tap list compared to its peers. Better food than the typical pub fare at McCoy’s next door. And it has some of the low-quality McCoy’s house beers on tap, just not as many as the brewpub side. Foundry offers tasters whereas the McCoy side seems to not know what a taster means. Fun place. Still, I liked Beer Kitchen even better.

This is my family’s favorite spot when we head to downtown, awesome atmosphere and food. Some of our favorites are the Chicken Club the sandwich has bacon and honey mustard… awesome, the original mac and cheese is a favorite, the chicken and waffles is a savory and sweet culinary freight train, and we always start with beer cheese pretzels.

The Foundry has always been a favorite happy hour and late night spot of mine. My tips are as follows: 1. Go for happy hour if you want to eat 2. It gets crowded FAST so expect it to be loud and at times difficult to find a spot to sit down 3. Eat the fried pickles but keep in mind its a large portion and it will fill you up 4. If you don’t want a crowded bar with lots of young hipsters this isn’t your jam for a weekend evening. Go to Harry’s across the street or perhaps even McCoys Enjoy!

Wandering around after the Tornado drowned out our plan of going to the Royals Game we needed at least one nightcap. We wandered into the Foundry because frankly they looked open. Like a lot of the places we saw in Kansas City it was a fresh build out. And unfortunately bars develop character with age not with carefully selected artwork. The Foundry is a great spot to grab some beers with the boys, shoot a little pool, and have bar food. The bartenders were nice and the beer was reasonable(Late night specials on pitchers!). But none of that replaces the soul of a bar, so I’d suggest you bring your own.

Really nice patio – perfect for a nice summer night like tonight. Decent election of beer, cocktails, beer cocktails, etc. The food was decent. Tried the zucchini fries as an app, which isn’t normally something I would order, but they were delicious, especially with the horseradish aioli they came with. Otherwise the menu isn’t mind-blowingly inventive, but I still enjoyed the turkey bacon avocado(etc) sandwich that I ordered. I would definitely come back to drink on their patio. a chill spot, with good music to boot.

The burgers we had on «Burger Night» should have earned this place 4 – 4.5 stars. The fact that they were playing all Bill Murray movies that night should have held them at a solid 4.5. The service and the constant visits by the weird manager killed the experience. Destroyed it. Seemed like a guy desperate for attention who was just there to talk to/check out the ladies at the table. The server was total crap as well. I’d give MAYBE1.5 stars for service. SO we balance out at 3. Go here if you want to roll the dice between decent food and total crap service. My female dining partner would like me to add that there is a really cool cat painting in the women’s room. I guess you could go for that. Will I be back? Maybe for takeout.

The atmosphere and food is pretty standard as far as bars go, but I’m giving it 4 stars for the really great pizza, the beer selection, and the service. We went because other places in the area had too long of waits(full disclosure), but we were happy with our dining experience. Would return for sure.

I would have given them 4 stars, but I had to deduct a star for SUPER super super slow service. Like we probably waited 40 minutes before we ordered and then waited another hour-ish for the food. And we could never get our waiter’s attention. On the positive side, the menu is bursting with diverse vegetarian/vegan options. I was with a big group of 10 or 15 people and everyone loved their meal. There was a DJ the night we went and he was leading a game called«singo»(basically music bingo) and it was really fun and kept everyone entertained during the eternal wait for our food. Definitely a fun place to go out with a big group… if you have a lot of time!

So my wife came to visit me in Kansas City as I am working out here and we wanted to grab a decent bite and drink. We attempted to go to Beer Kitchen but there was an unfortunate wait so we decided to bounce over to The Foundry. The beer selection here is top notch and I could hardly ask for a better selection. I ordered up a couple beers and my wife had a couple Moscow Mules(side note that they retain your ID if getting said drink in a copper mug… Like I’m a criminal…). Regardless the drinks were good as well as the service. They had a new employee training so they were on point. We ordered the chicken tenders which were ok as well as the TnT tuna tacos for my wife and the Pork belly cubano for my fat ass. Now, my cubano was fine and all but the tuna tacos were another story. Imagine a slice of tuna seared raw placed atop a pile of veggies with a pickled(?) jalapeño and a dab of sriracha. No sauce; just dry veggies and fish. While we felt a sauce could’ve saved the dish it could not save the fact that the lettuce was dirty. Obviously no one had decided it was worth the time to wash them. When concern was raised and we sent the dish back, the manager came over to apologize for us ‘not liking the food’ and that they would remove it from the bill. While we really didn’t like the dish it was more the dirty ass lettuce that no one should be expected to consume. All in all I had higher expectations. I may return to have a drink but I doubt we will ever eat here again.

I have only been here about two times but I have had a pretty pleasant experience every time. Most recently they had a Jim Beam and Goose Island representative for tastings! Goose Island was there to showcase their Bourbon County craft beer. The reps were really amazing, Ryan especially, and we also got free swag. We also ordered some other beers on tap and the beer pretzels. While the pretzels were great for a snack if you want a great appetizer, order the nachos. Foundry, McCoys, and Beer Kitchen are all owned by the same people I believe. Out of the three the Foundry is my least favorite location but still great nonetheless. Outside they have heating lamps too for this colder weather coming up and a large patio with a lot of seating.
