Years ago I bought a mantle clock that didn’t work. I took it to the Clock Center when it was at its old location in downtown Lenexa. He recommended that we take out the guts(chimes) and replace them with a battery operated motor. It was expensive, but it sounded fantastic. Didn’t sound tinny or electronic at all. Ten+ years later, the motor died and it’s time to get a new one. I’ve never done any cost comparisons because I trust the work they do here. I paid $ 150 for a new motor/labor. As I said, I don’t know how that would compare to someone else’s services. They are now in a residential area in KCK. You can’t see the house or building from the road. You drive up the driveway and the workshop is in a large shed/barn-like structure in the back. It’s full of antique clocks and if I had a bigger house and more places to hang clocks, I may have bought one. He had my clock for 6 months because he had ordered the parts and they sent him the wrong ones, so he had to re-order. We could have had better communication during the time he had my clock(he could have called me when they sent the wrong part to let me know why there was a delay, and when he expected to get the new one), but I’m happy to have my clock back. I recommend this business, but make sure you communicate well to have clear expectations of how long the services would take, and if you expect phone call updates.
