I honestly don’t see why people like this place so much. Sure it’s cozy, and it’s not like what we had was terrible. The service is just lacking. My boyfriend and I went in, and it took us about 3 minutes until someone, I assume the owner, greeted us. However, it was frustrating because we were literally standing there right in front of him. In a business, your customer should be your first priority, they should not be made to feel like an inconvenience. He was preoccupied working on something he was baking. It was so awkward, we didn’t know whether or not to sit down. the place doesn’t really direct you properly. Coming in for the first time I didn’t know if i should sit down first, or just go up front. The menu doesn’t direct your eye, and it just felt so weird. I felt like a ghost. It may have been unintentional, but that’s how I felt.

I want to like this place. It’s cute and clean and bright and it has a ton of interesting tea options, and a decent patio. Plus gluten free sandwich bread and scones, which is something I’m always happy to see. The coffee was good too. But the man working here made us feel really rushed and uncomfortable. I don’t even understand why he acted that way — there was only one other couple in the shop, and plenty of tables. But about half an hour after we ordered and sat down, he started bothering us about whether we wanted to order anything else, and continued to come back and bother us about ordering more until we left. I would understand if there were other customers waiting to sit down, or if we’d been there all day without ordering drinks. But I don’t understand the intrusive rudeness to paying customers in the context of an empty shop on a weekday afternoon. I go to coffee shops for the environment — a relaxing place to chat or read or work — and it’s just not relaxing if you’re made to feel unwelcome. I would only ever come back here if I knew this guy wasn’t working that day.

My husband and I went here for lunch/tea, and we will definitely be back! The lady who took our order was very helpful with tea selections(there is an almost overwhelming selection of tea) and was patient with us as we decided what we wanted for lunch(we sometimes have trouble making up our minds). We ordered a pot of tea to split(which gave us about 2 cups of tea each) and scones. The scones were delicious, and I HIGHLY recommend getting the devon cream and preserves to go with them. We also each got a spinach and feta crustless quiche, which was very tasty and was served piping hot. The quiche came with the option of either kettle chips or carrot slaw, and we both got the slaw. If you are a fan of carrot slaw, I would definitely recommend theirs. Things were served in order, so we had a chance to enjoy the scones and tea before we got our quiche and slaw, which was really nice. They offer afternoon tea with multiple courses on Saturday and Sunday afternoons(requires a 24 hour reservation), and we plan on trying that soon! I would definitely recommend this place for tea lovers or people looking for a relaxing(and very tasty) lunch.

What a find! Thanks for offering the Groupon to get me in the door. I will be back a lot! You are tea experts and I do not say that lightly. Working from home, I’m always on the lookout for a good spot with free wifi, good atmosphere for work and great tea. I’ve never found all three until now! The teas were perfectly prepared and the atmosphere is cheery and inviting. I love the upstairs lounge area and found the front room a treat to share with the other patrons. Thank you!!!

The best thing about this little tea shop… is the owner. He is very helpful, friendly, and genuine. The food and drinks are served in s very relaxed and casual environment. Add to that free Wi Fi and you have a place to while away an hour or so sipping tea and eating scones with friends. No one makes you feel rushed or unwelcome. They even have a cart loaded with board games. Now, that alone screams«stay awhile». So… I figured I would… and write a Unilocal review. I started off by sampling their Mint tea with sweet vanilla and a chocolate chip chocolate scone, that the owner was nice enough to warm for me. Very tender and flaky with just the right amount of sweetness. My husband and I shared the cup of roasted carrot soup with crispy pita and a club sandwich on multigrain bread that was lightly toasted. The bacon was crispy and the flavor pop was brought to you by grainy Dijon mustard. If you are in the mood for tea… be it hot or cold, they serve and sell a multitude of options. It’s such a pleasant time of year, not to hot, not too cold. Stop by, have an iced tea or coffee and enjoy the breeze on the patio.

Came in here to grab some coffee, I know their specialty is tea but we wanted a bigger caffeine boost and it was on the way(and we’ve never tried it before). The girl who greeted us was very nice and explained everything about the teas, food and etc. I inquired if they had milk alternatives other than soy(some places have rice or almond milk) and she turned around and asked a man who I am assuming is the owner and he seemed to brush off her question, then said«what? alternatives? what?» like he didn’t understand and finally gave her the answer of «no, soy is all we have.» It made me feel like a dunce for even asking! We ordered our two lattes, paid and sat down. A few minutes later the man brought us our drinks, and informed me that«Well, she undercharged… the flavor syrup, the soy… I mean, it’s okay this time. But next time, be aware.» Here is my reaction to this: If I was undercharged, YES please tell me so that I can be aware for next time. HOWEVER, you should probably phrase it as «Hey, we made a mistake and you’re getting a freebie, but only this time, haha!» or something of the sorts… I have been on his side of this situation before: this message of «it will be more expensive next time» must be conveyed to the customer, but don’t make them feel like they have done something wrong… There was also no music playing when we went, which was a little awkward. We could hear the people next to us, the owner answering the phone and the conversation between him and the girl working with vivid clarity. Soft unobtrusive music would be nice. However, this is not enough to discourage me from going back. I would love to sit on the patio and sip on some tea next time.

A cozy lil coffeeshop with surprisingly eclectic and delicious food. I was surprised by the creative concoctions they offered and the coffee was great, too. Nice atmosphere, cozy upstairs with more informal seating. When I visited it was a little too cold for the outside patio area, but it was cute and well kept. Definitely worth a re-visit … the only drawback is the relatively limited hours.

This is an amazing little tea house and coffee shop that just opened a few months ago. It’s got a great location — right next to Westport and in an awesome little house that has plenty of nooks and rooms for isolating yourself of people watching. It’s also right next to the Temple Slug, an awesome store in its own right. The staff are really friendly, and the owner is super knowledgeable about teas — he mentioned that one of their main suppliers lives in KC and actually owns a tea plot in China! They have a huge list of options to choose from, and he’s happy to help you pick one out. They’ve also got great food — especially the SCONES! I had a vanilla and rooibos scone(I’ve never even seen that before) and it was delicious. All in all, this is a great little café that is really unique in the KC area. You should definitely check it out… I know I’ll be back!

I want to give this place a good review because I love when I see little places like this pop up. But our one experience here was not good. My husband’s chai tea latte was the 2nd worse he has ever had. When we walked in there was only one person taking orders & making the drinks/food. I understand it is a small place and one person might work during slow times on weekdays but this was lunch time on a Saturday. She called for back up and things started moving a little faster. The wait for our lunch was long but not horrible. But the food was barely above average and the portions were small. I usually don’t leave hungry after a meal because I think food portions are usually too large in restaurants anyway. That was not the case here. I may try to go back to give this place another try. The outdoor patio looks very inviting. Someplace I would like to hang out with my dog and enjoy a beverage but I just don’t want to spend several dollars for a coffee drink and it turn out mediocre.

Love, love, love this adorable coffee shop! So much so that I’m having trouble finding the words to describe its amazing-ness… Here’s my best attempt: I tried their Japanese Cherry Blossom Frapp which was a Green tea frapp blended with Cherry Coridal. Every sip was sweet and delicious. My mom tried their specialty: vanilla mint iced tea. Minty and sweet and tasty, indeed! The baristas encourage you to walk upstairs where there are futons, couches, and window seats. They even offer to walk all the way up the stairs to bring your drinks to you! The upstairs is comfy and welcoming. Sitting in that room will make you want to meditate and thank the coffee gods for creating such a great coffee shop. They even provide a Japenese mat for you to do so… What made this place so perfect was that while I was sipping my frapp, the barista came all the way up the stairs with a steaming, hot plate and said the following glorious words: «Would you like a free sample?» It was some sort of «ginger –something delicious– amazing sounding– honey bun» of some sort. She lost me at the words«free sample.»

Jen makes a killer espresso shot too. They use Roasterie organic espresso beans. Jen is super knowledgeable about coffee and teas. The vanilla mint iced tea is their specialty. Ask to try their iced teas and they are more than happy to let you. Daisy is great behind the counter too! Superb service and friendly faces abound.
