Friendly. Quick. Doesn’t upsell on unnecessary procedures. I’m glad I found Dr. Rueb!

Sometimes I forget to floss… for a month. WHATSITTOYA? Why don’t you get off of your high horse and show me your certificate for perfect dental hygiene? Other times I crack a tooth in Vietnam, and then the pain subsides and I forget about it for a few months, until the pain comes back in a fiery rage and I have to go to a dentist RIGHTEFFINGNOW! And then other times you discover that your dentist office closed… two years ago. Man, I have GOT to get better about this whole dental care thing. Time to find a dentist. Dr Rueb is close by my place and well recommended by Unilocalers I trust, so I went for it! I’m glad that I did. Today I met the dentist and his office manager. Both were fantastic and flexible. I didn’t catch the office manager’s name, but in handling all insurance filings and helping with scheduling at both her office and another, I’d say she’s the best. The dentist seems great too. I suspect he’s an old hippie, which is fine by me. He’s calm and friendly and set me at ease. He does the exam himself so you’re only dealing with one person from start to finish. This seems to make things go by more quickly, of which I’m always a fan. Getting x-rays was particularly low-tech and low-key. In the end, no lecture for not flossing like I should, just subtle reminders that I should tend to my gums once in a while. Basically Dr Rueb makes going to the dentist feel like no big thing, which this dental-phobic guy can appreciate. The office is simple, and would never be mistaken for ritzy. But it’s comfortable and with the office on the 13th floor, the view from the exam rooms is pretty nice! I was the only person in the waiting area and they had a People Magazine from THISWEEK. I’m glad to not be reading a Parents magazine from 2012. I parked in the underground garage at 13th and Grand, though you’d have to stop in and do biz at one of the Power and Light businesses to get that validated.

I was recommended to Dr. Rueb from a friend here on Unilocal. It had been some time since seeing a dentist and last spring I decided it had been long enough! Time to start using my insurance and get my regular cleanings and check-ups! I called Dr. Rueb’s office and book an appointment with ease. During my first phone call I found out they excepted my insurance, would file the claim for me(huge plus) and their customer service is top notch. My first visit then went great. The office itself is quite small, but in a very good way. When you enter, you are greeted by name(because you would be the only one with an appointment when you walk in), and pretty much escorted right into the chair. Now comes some of my favorite parts. The singular chair is then used for x-rays, the cleaning and polishing, and the check up itself. No getting up and down and going from room to room. The chair also has a gorgeous view to the west; it’s on the 13th floor. Also, everything is done by Dr. Rueb. That’s right, a dentist does the cleaning too, which I personally feel much better about. Plus I like the idea of only one person having their hands in my mouth! Another huge plus: There is never a sales pitch or a «you know you could» conversation about all of the glorious elective dental procedures you«could» get. However, when i inquired about some whitening, I was given honest options and full pricing, nothing hidden. Today I had my second cleaning and check-up, and again I had the best service I could hope for. Five stars! 100% recommendation to anyone who is looking for a dentist or who wants a better dentist!!!

After getting burned by incessantly up-selling, untrustworthy dentists, I was happy to get a personal recommendation for Dr. Rueb. The difference between the experience in his office and the others I’ve been to in my decade-and-change of choosing my own dentists couldn’t be more different. After you make your way to the end of a non-descript hallway on the 13th floor of the Traders on Grand building, you’re greeted personally by a very friendly desk clerk in a small, modest waiting room. The waiting room is irrelevant, though, since they respect you enough to whisk you back to the chair and get started at your scheduled time. The doc comes right in, greets you warmly, and gets to work. The best part? He cleans and checks my teeth and sends me on my way. He doesn’t insult my overcrowded mouth by trying to sell me Invisalign, insist I try some nuclear whitening service, or try to sell some fancy polish. Unlike all of the tooth malls I’d been to in the last few years, this is a DENTIST’S OFFICE. When I first walked into this office after dumping another dentist in the area, I was in the middle of scheduling fillings for 7 supposed cavities. It turned out I didn’t have any, and haven’t since I’ve been patronizing Dr. Rueb. He won’t try to sell you something you don’t need, and he takes care of you as an old-fashioned, honest practitioner with a humble smile and a mild-mannered, friendly disposition. It’s as pleasant as going to the dentist can be.
