Well it doesn’t get any better than this. I used to frequent this place on a regular basis when I was working. But since I have retired I haven’t been going as much. So I gave it a try and I was not disappointed.

The ends and ribs were quite good: solid smoke and char balance. The sides were really delicious. I would prefer the BBQ on the side, as it is was not my favorite sauce and actually takes away from the otherwise great flavor of the well prepared BBQ. Perhaps more sauce options would be nice, especially something spicy.

Bartender Michael Fizer made our visit with his speciality drinks. Beans were other worldly with the beef drippings melted in. Babybacks were top grade…burnt ends did not compete with Jack Stacks(but none do since they invented them) and cole slaw first grade.

I was not impressed with my meal at Smokehouse. I would not recommend it to any of my friends. The meat was nothing too exciting, the beans tasted bad and the service was just so so.

For me it was just okay. I feel like I could have had quality ribs or burnt ends pieces somewhere else. Even famous faces had better ribs. My ends and pieces were super fatty. Sauce is pretty tasty. Cheesy corn is delicious and was a hit with my son. My other son likes his burger but he could get the same one somewhere else. He would rather have 5 guys. The beans tasted weird for me. Fries should be steak fries or better. Still a good place to eat. The best part of the visit was our server nick. This guy was on top of things all night. Not a Delay in anything we asked for! Very impressed with him. Master of his craft.

Well Kansas City, for being known for your BBQ, this place is not one of them. This just reminded me of a fancy Dickey’s. It has a chain restaurant taste to it. It’s like they are in the kitchen with a «plug and play» recipe. I didn’t know if I was eating meat or sauce. That taste was pretty bland and it didn’t have that«love» in it like you would thing a bbq place would have. I ordered the burnt ends with a side salad and baked beans. Let’s just say the salad and water was phenomenal! I came to a bbq place and had a great salad. Who would have thought? Service was ok but with a empty restaurant, you’d think they wouldn’t have stuck me next to the kitchen. Then you come to my table twice and the table next to me five times? Interesting to say the least. I will say that I will never eat at a Smokehouse BBQ place again. Others may but not me. Hopefully my next BBQ experience in KC is much better than this one. With this experience, the KCBBQ tradition is in need of some serious help if this is what BBQ is based on.

I can’t say I’m a Kansas City bbq aficionado, but this place was pretty tasty indeed in my opinion. The bbq was tender and well-seasoned(I had the brisket), the fries fresh, the tea sweet and the staff exceedingly attentive.

Beans are the best! Got the burnt ends platter, shared it with my daughter and yummm! Plenty for us two to share. Service was great and friendly.

The first thing I learned when I moved to Kansas City… Everyone has a favorite BBQ. We were introduced to Smokehouse BBQ by our realtor. I LOVE the corn nuggets, cheesy corn and baked beans(try mixing the beans and cheesy corn… it is delicious). The BBQ is good, but not my favorite(that honor belongs to Joe’s KC… for now). What I love about this place is the elegant, but yet laid back, atmosphere of the restaurant. TO me, it always feels like I’m stepping into a fancy restaurant, yet you’ll still find plenty of people wearing jeans. This location, in particular, is ideal for walking during the spring and early fall months. I love walking around Zona Rosa and people watching as I window shop. To give you an idea of price, for the two of us to have an appetizer, two entrees and a dessert, it comes to about $ 50.00(including tip).

My conference in Kansas City was about a mile from KCI so not much around this area. We decided to go to a local BBQ place recommended by the shuttle driver, about 4 miles away. Ended up here and had a great dinner! I chose the bbq ribs and chicken with the grilled veggies. Delicious! The breast was slightly dry so that’s why the 4.5 rating. We didn’t have to ask for more coffee, water, or soda. Our waitress was on it! 5 stars! We were seated near the bar where the Royals were playing on the tube and won so there was a great crowd around to boot! Went mid week so no wait time but I could imagine this place packing it in on the weekend!

The atmosphere is more of a nice sitdown place. I’m used to down and simple BBQ, but we said why not. The zucchini appetizer was pretty awesome, they mix cheese in the crumb mix so it’s got a smoky taste to them. So I had the short end and the ribs were pretty meaty, smoked, and tasty. The coleslaw was bleh, the potato salad was pretty tasty. Now this is where it got eh. My gf ordered the burnt ends(she’s mad for burn ends). They came out and they were medium… burnt ends came out medium, not well-done, but medium. We mentioned this to our server who said that this is how they do them and she offered to get us something else, we politely declined. The manager did come over and offered to give us burnt burnt ends to go. My gf said ok and we got them a couple of minutes later. These were burnt ends were closer to burnt ends and they were good, but they just weren’t burnt ends. So this is an odd comment, but we felt rushed. We got the appetizer a couple of minutes after ordering and the same with the food. It was actually quite surprising and it threw us off. I do appreciate the manager giving us the burnt ends and trying to make it right. For that reason, I would come back.

Ordered by telephone. Since I was having someone else pick up the food for the Chiefs game, I called back to pay for the order. I found out that they don’t take credit cards over the phone. REALLY? This company policy was probably put in place years ago when this backward thinking joint lost $ 5 on an order somehow. It seems like an organization like this would sooner or later wake up and wonder why everyone else takes cards over the phone Why don’t we? Hmmmm.

So u cannot go to Kansas City Labor Day weekend and not eat BBQ. We stopped in for some dinner after our movie. The smell of yummy smoke hits you as soon as you walk in the door. I like that the menu had turkey and chicken options not just pork or beef. I ordered the pulled chicken platter which came with 2 sides. You get a lot of food and it’s pretty affordable. The only thing I didn’t like was that they only offered one type of BBQ sauce which wasn’t anything to write home about. Service was good I would stop back again.

The beans, ooooh the beans. I think next time I’ll order the beans, with a side of beans, and extra beans. We stopped by and had burnt ends, beans, and cheesy corn. Everything was great and the server was wonderful about keeping the cold beverages flowing on a very hot day. My daughter — picky finicky is still kicking herself for not ordering the beans after having a bite of ours.

This was the best bbq we had in the area. The ribs where amazing. The coleslaw was very good as well as rhe cheese corn and cheesecake. They are a sit down restaurant so expect some wait for food. Ou food was amazing and recommend it all! However… our service was poor. Waiter did not return to ask how our meal was and did not return until giving our checks. My group was also consisting of all veterans and when we asked for a military discount we were told they had one but he would not rerun our bills. So that was crap but over all the food spoke for itself and was very happy with that. Absolutely eat here if your near one!

We got the beef short ribs and burnt ends. The short ribs consisted of a huge portion of tender, tasty bone-on meat. Very, very good and an excellent value. The burnt ends were, like they are in many restaurants that claim to sell burnt ends, merely pieces of cubed brisket tossed in a particularly ketchup-like sauce. The beef short ribs are a fantastic value. Skip the burnt ends until Smokehouse decides that they are either willing to stop lying about what makes burnt ends or at least be willing to tell late-arriving customers the following, «We’re out of burnt ends today. Try again tomorrow.»

Good food, fast service. The Super Crispy is worth coming back for. The burnt ends were great, and the baby back ribs weren’t bad. I prefer more of an outdoor barbecue joint. This is definitely a restaurant along the lines of Tony Roma’s.

Smokehouse has been one of my go-to spots when I visit KC. I particularly like their chicken and their sandwiches. The service has gone downhill as of late, which negatively impacts the dining experience. Yesterday, due to a flight delay, I decided to stop in and have an early dinner. I told the server I was flying out today and that the airline kept changing my departure times. She was obviously unmoved by this conversation because she literally took forever to do anything, even to refill sodas. It was the slowest service ever and they were not crowded at all. It almost seemed like she was moving slow on purpose. When I was leaving I said thanks and Happy New Year and she said«yep». Left a bad taste in my mouth and very unprofessional way to communicate with a customer. The only reason I will likely return is the ‘super crispy’ sandwich. It is worth it. One of a kind. And you can’t get burnt end sandwiches everywhere :-)

During my last trip to the Midwest in the Spring of 2014, I asked the question, «is it even possible to get bad BBQ in Kansas City.?» At the time, I answered with a resounding«NO», because up until I ate at the Smokehouse Barbecue, I had never had a bad ‘Cue experience. Well, I guess there is a first time for everything since the meats I had at the Smokehouse were the very definition of «meh». Located in the Zona Rosa town center( ), the Smokehouse caters to the Lowest Common Denominator of the BBQ eating public. The emphasis at the Zona Rosa is on the shopping, not on the generic restaurants like Outback Steakhouse or Noodles and Company, which are also located here. So if you’re in the area and need to buy a book at Barnes and Noble, get a gift at Yankee Candle, or something at CVS, this is the spot for you. But if you’re hungry, I’d recommend opening your Unilocal app on the smartphone to find better dining options. Where to start with the BBQ Fails? I ordered the burnt ends and ½ rack of Ribs platter since this was my first meal in KC and I was hankering for some smoked meats. The ribs were extremely fatty and tasted like they had been boiled first and not slowly cooking in a smoker for hours. Worse yet, the meat took some effort to tear away from the bones and were slathering in overly sweet and tomato-y tasting sauce. The burnt ends had no char on the meat and were on the dry-side; again, the meat was swimming in sauce. It’s pretty sad when the best part of my meal were the steamed vegetables which had a subtle seasoning of garlic salt and pepper. I award an extra star since our server made sure to keep our glasses filled with ice tea and was attentive without being intrusive. He did seem a bit surprised when I declined a doggie bag to take home the remainder of my burnt ends… but with all of the good ‘Cue in K.C., I wanted to save my calories for better meal the next day.

A friend took me here for KCBBQ when we met for lunch. He recommended the @SmokehouseBBQ burnt ends and they were awesome. The baked beans were also killer and the chicken was great as well. My mouth is watering right now. Smoky goodness.
