We went to this Sherwin Williams location after we found out that the Home Depot on East Bannister Street doesn’t stock no VOC paint.(argh!) They color matched our samples for 3 gallons and we were in and out in less than 10 minutes(even though there were 3 people in front of us in line). It wasn’t cheap but we knew we’d pay a premium for our no fume eco paint before going in. I also noticed that they have 1. specialty painting items that the Big Box stores don’t stock — like a big painting glove for spindles and pipes 2. a lego table to entertain curious and impatient toddlers(like mine) 3. a decent selection of wallpaper. What most impressed me about our trip? The same guy who filled carried our paint out to our car without even asking. It’s pretty rare to see that kind of service nowadays.

This is a nice store and looks to be a good place to ask for advice on a project, but ultimately I didn’t end up buying any paint here because the prices are higher than at other area stores. A few years ago Sherwin-Williams was one of the few places that carried low VOC paint, but now Lowe’s has a selection of low and zero VOC at a lower price. Though this might be the only place in the Waldo neighborhood that carries the non-toxic fume variety. They also carry a variety of varnishes and other paint accessories.

Sherwin-Williams helped me give two garage sale finds a new life. [SEEUPLOADEDBEFORE&AFTERPHOTOS] This particular store had enough paint swatch choices to make choosing fun but not so many that it’s over whelming. A light display that shows the swatches in natural and artificial light was very helpful. Tempe Star blue was the color of choice as it fits my 50s — 60s era color scheme. It only took a few minutes for the helpful staff to mix the paint color. This gave me time to select sandpaper and a brush. I found an environmentally friendly Purdy brand EcoPro™ paint brush that worked great. Pro tip: I’ve painted several signs during my design career and Purdy brand brushes are worth the few extra dollars. The bristles do not fall out. Recycled and renewable material brushes: Very helpful and comprehensive website:
