Sheng’s Chinese Restaurant

I really enjoyed it the lo mein was very good and the spring roll and dumplings too. it’s great food for the price. its still good the next day after you put it in the fridge and warm it up.

A relaxed, laid back experience. Upon reading a number of reviews I didn’t know what to expect. This isn’t a typical american Chinese restaurant, expect to sit back and decompress and budget some time. The food is wonderful and is at a great price point. This is somewhere that I anticipate picking up a meal once a week.

Great Tasting food… I had the Chicken Wings, Egg Drop Soup and Schezuan Beef and I’m from Hawaii the melting pot of Asian food. I love these little whole in the wall places

DO NOT EAT at this place! You will be disappointed w/​their service. I get that restaurants can mess up your orders at times, but twice in one month, and they’re the ones giving you the attitude? Yeah, how about never again. Forget about ordering online, forget about 45 – 60 minutes delivery time. Try 1−½ hours later. Their normal response, «so sorry we’re so busy.» Try, you are running a business, I’m a customer and that’s your problem. If you’re that busy, you’re probably making enough money to hire help.

Ordered online, set my pick up time for 2:30pm, it was ready before I got there and still warm when I got home. The dumplings are delicious.

I came here today for a Spicy Chicken Fried Rice lunch order and an order of egg rolls. I didn’t call ahead. I had to wait 5 minutes for anyone to even notice I was there. I had to wait an additional 20 minutes for my food. I did not get Spicy Chicken Fried Rice, either. Very disappointed. I can go to China Feast down the street for fresh food, how I want it, and double the amount, for a lesser price.

This place, in a word, is a dump. The door doesn’t close properly, the woodwork is unfinished in parts, and frankly it doesn’t look like it should be inhabitable as a place of business. In fact, my theory is that it’s actually a drug den using the guise of a restaurant. Also, the last two times I’ve been there, several bags of Quick-​Crete (or however it’s spelled) were in the middle of the dining room floor. Also, the elderly lady there is very grouchy.
But you know what else. The food is REALLY good, the portions are REALLY generous, and the price is reasonable.
Sooooo… I guess I’ll just keep eating there anyway.

If you want your credit/​debit card number stolen then order online from Sheng. Otherwise I would keep to cash.
I just discovered, unfortunately after having 3 card numbers stolen, that this is the common denominator. Every time after I order online from this restaurant, a few days later I find fraudulent charges on my accounts and I have to cancel the card.
DO NOT TRUST THEM!

I have never written a review before, but I get cranky when I’m hungry. If I would have received my food that I order at the beginning of the royals game (it is now top of the 8^th) I wouldn’t be cranky, and you would not be reading this review. I called three times over the last hour and every time I was told it was on the way. I live ONE mile away. I know what you’re thinking, «lazy a$*» but the royals are playing, it’s raining, and yes, I’m lazy. The worst part is I put a generous tip on my bill during the ordering process. Never again will I order from this «restaurant».

Best Lo-​mien I’ve had in KC.

SO glad another restaurant in the area couldn’t be bothered to deliver. Shen was fantastic tonight! Girl answering the phone was nice and personable. Hot sour soup was just right and the Singapore rice noodles were really really good. Huge portions for one person, easily could be 2 – 3 meals. Would have liked faster delivery but as soon as I had my first bite my annoyance at the hour long wait fled. Next visit to this area will see me back for more Shen!

avoid at all costs. the general tso’s went in the trash after 2 bites. I’m not kidding, it was inedible. the Rangoon were fine and the spice of the Kung pao made it palatable and the $ 40 price tag was enough to make me look past the questionable quality of the chicken. it’s bad food do not order from this place.

Seeing other reviews of a mean lady on the phone and rude delivery drivers, I was a little worried but finally decided to give this place a shot.
I was pleasantly surprised when a very professional, respectful, and friendly woman greeted my call and took my order.
I placed an order for egg drop soup, crab rangoon, a side of egg fried rice, and vegetable lo mein.
She gave me an estimate of 45 minutes, and my food arrived on the dot.
I’m not sure if was the same lady that answered my call that delivered my food, but she was extremely friendly as well.
The egg drop soup is SO delicious.
Everything was delicious, really, but I will be lured back for the soup alone.
So I had friendly service, prompt delivery, and delicious food. I have no reason NOT to give this place 5 stars. Will order again.

Takes a while to get picked up or delivered but personally it’s worth the wait. I have never had a bad order… For Chinese delivery it’s delicious. I used to live downtown off 10^th street and was surprised they delivered that far. They have great vegetable options — love the garlic eggplant. Kung pap shrimp comes jumbo and it’s oh-​so-​delicious. Crab rangoons are always something I have to try and I always crave theirs. As long as you aren’t too hangry for the wait… I recommend it!

We ordered lunch for the first time today, to be delivered. We were told 45 – 60 minutes delivery time. Two hours later we got our lunch. They sent crab Rangoon instead of the egg rolls we ordered, and the food was less than mediocre. We will not try this again.

I will do not even want to give this place a star. I ordered a simple order (PFR, dumplings, and egg rolls). It took them 90 min. and 2 phone calls to get my order. I was so pissed off. Never again will I order from this place again!

Quantity over quality best describes this place.
Every time I’ve ever tried to order from this restaurant, the person (usually a very, very angry woman) yells at me. I’ve only ordered delivery from this business, but, from what I’ve read (and judging by their phone etiquette), I don’t think I really want to sit down for a meal here.
The taste and quality of the food are average, but the portion sizes are quite large. I’ve eaten the Szechuan beef and their Kung Pao.
Due to the pure rage of the woman who usually answers the phone, I don’t think I’ll be recommending this business to anyone except friends who feed off leftovers for days and people who generally enjoy being screamed at via telephone.

Delivery– 2-​22-​2014
So my hisband foind thus place on the internet. He ordered and paid with a card over the phone. They were very helpfull. Willing to substitute one kind of rice for another. We have dogs so we told them that it would take us a few minutes to come out and get it. They were very understanding and said they could call when they arived. So about 15 – 20 minutes later they called. And were here. The food was great.
Realy good quality white meat in the sesame chicken.
Genral tso chicken was realy good too.
There rice was hot and fluffy
Good, just the right type of chrispy!
So order #2. I look them up on Unilocal.And see that there highest star is a 3? Realy? Werid. Maybe new owners? Maybe new employees? I thought maybe its old reviews?
I have no idea why our experiperance has been so epicaly drifrent then the ones listed on here. But for the second time.
Great phone service. Fast delevery. I got the same dish. My husband hot the ornge chicken. Still amazing. Probly the second best if not best Chinese delevery I have ever had!
Update-3−16−2014– they said 15 minutes for delivery. Its alreddy been 45!

I ran in here for lunch… I’d never been before. It was empty and looks like it might be empty a lot. I ordered combo fried rice and she doddled around a bit as I waited as patiently as possible… I only had about 10 minutes to grab and go back to work. It wasn’t super-​fast, but I got out of there and rushed back to work. I paid about $ 7 for the meal and I ate EVERY BITE. This was probably the best fried rice I’ve ever had. It was DELICIOUS.
If you are not looking for ambiance, give this place a try.

Super long story short, after calling a few times and being lied to and hung up on, we waited three hours for food. We were quoted 45 – 60 minutes.
We never actually got our food since we went to the location instead and had them give us a refund. While there, the delivery guy showed up with our order and threw it all out. The lady at the front was super rude, wouldn’t let us talk, did nothing but make excuses, and even told us to «just go».
