If Ricardo doesn’t magically appear at the bar/​event you’ve chosen for your weekend fun, then you’re obviously in the wrong place.

Sometimes he dresses up like a green M&M. Sometimes he dresses up like a leprechaun or even the Easter Bunny. While the caliber and style of his costumes change according to both whim and season, the man, the myth, the legend, is out for one reason: to hear good music and to dance up a storm. Step aside, party poopers!
Ricardo is Kansas City’s Clara the Chicken (watch Party Monster if you don’t know what I mean). Every city needs a happy maker, and Ricardo is Kansas City’s. He gets the party started, right!

I have lived in KC since 2003, and soon after my arrival, it became apparent that any show or event in Westport is made significantly cooler by the appearance of Ricardo. His outrageous gender– and genre-​bending outfits are always creative and entertaining.
Last Saturday, some friends of mine and I were lamenting the absence of Ricardo over the last few months, while enjoying drinks and waiting for the Latenight Callers to play at the recordBar. We wondered — is he OK? Had we stopped going to the right places?
Not five minutes after we have this conversation, Ricardo saunters in, wearing rabbit ears and an awkwardly skimpy Easter Bunny outfit that only he could pull off. We breathed a sigh of relief — all was right with the world.
