Great steak. Best crème brûlée ever. Enjoyed the walk around union station as a very historical. A true landmark.

We had a party of eight and didn’t get to sit together but the food was awesome. The ambience was great, a little noisy but what do you expect in a bar? I would definitely eat here again!

I can only speak about our bartender and our experience at the bar – we didn’t eat here. While we were at Rieger’s for dinner, we told the very nice people sitting next to us that we were tourists & we were looking for a post dinner drink location.(We had some time to kill while waiting for our Manifesto reservation) Pierponts was perfect. We loved the union station location. My grandmother was raised in KC – I was disappointed to hear that Pierponts hasn’t been there for 80−100yrs, it’d be fun to know my grandmother & I had been in the same place. Trust me, my grandmother would’ve found the bar in Union Station. Anyway, this place had me fooled & I felt like the place had been around for 100yrs. My new hobby is tasting whiskey, bourbon & scotch. The selection is phenomenal – just look at the photos and the 25ft ladder to reach all the booze. The bartender was helpful with a couple suggestions. Unfortunately, I don’t recall exactly which scotch I had, but I know it was something that most places don’t carry.

Mediocre food at best. My entrée came 20 minutes after my wife’s did. The ambiance of Union Station is the best thing about this place.

Drinks: A+ Service A+ Atmosphere A+ Food D Steaks were dry and full of gristle. Lobster Mac and cheese was dry. Food came out cold. If you want a great place to have a few signature cocktails, this place is awesome! Skip the expensive steaks($ 50) that you can buy anywhere.

Beautiful, absolutely beautiful! Not just union station — but the whole experience, the history, the food(wow the food here rocks) Jeremiah, THANKYOU for your amazing service — you’re a class guy, super cool and down to earth, the whole family loved you. Trish made us a key lime pie that was to die for — bravo Trish! We has about everything on the menu in one for or another. Tartar was fresh and the texture was perfect, the wine was excellent, they had a coffee rubbed steak that my daughter raved about, a 21 day aged strip(I like mine a lot stinker @ 45 day, truly funky) my son had that and loved it, the sided we all unique, even posole’(unusual for a KC Resturant). And pulled rabbit as tender as you can imagine. There’s a little construction in the area right now so you have to dodge a few cones.

VERY average and VERY expensive for what they offer $$$$. Strange pricing on wines by the glass too(they offer half glasses — WTF ever orders a half glass of wine?). You see the half glass price then get the bill and its $ 17 for a full one. Pear salad was good. NY Strip was half gristle and fat for 45 bucks. Didn’t care for the mushroom side which was a melody — definitely prefer traditional mushroom caps sautéed. 5 star atmosphere in beautiful Union Station. Service was good if you want to listen to the staff talk with their friends all night at the bar. I would skip it and find another option though. I wouldn’t go back.

Certainly, not a bad way to spend a meal, if you’re in KC for a short amount of time. Pierpont’s(named for banking tycoon J.P. Morgan) is located in the corner of Union Station, a highly visible, large, 1914-era building; it is also an active train station in the heart of Kansas City just down the hill and across the(busy) street from the excellent Liberty Memorial(aka Nat’l WWI Museum). When in KC try the Kansas City Strip… happy hour in the lounge is the best time and place for deals; although limited seating is available in the lounge(which includes the well-stocked bar) the menu is tailored to happy hour prices, which includes the famous Kansas City Strip(10 oz for $ 22); the fantastic filet mignon is $ 15; each entrée comes with an equally delicious side. For sides, the sautéed mushrooms or whipped mashed potatoes are great. Again, lounge items are limited unless you decide on the dinner menu after 5:00 P.M., which is diverse, a level up in price(KC Strip 14oz $ 49), and may require prior arrangements. Additionally, the restaurant’s aura and atmosphere is the late jazz period and early big band era of the 1920s, 30s, and 40s with authentic Art Deco décor, which leaves a lasting impression on first-time diners. Lastly, Pierpont’s at Union Station is a great place for a last call of classic KC cuisine on a limited schedule: excellent price, location, and taste. Amazing meal! The steaks were cooked to perfection. My husband ordered asparagus and mashed potatoes for his sides(yum) and I had the lobster mac and cheese. If no one was around, I would have licked my plate. The server also suggested a nice red to go with our wine and it did not disappoint! Good service, good food. Will definitely go back for a special occasion. It’s pricey, but worth it.

My experience started when I walked up to the hostess desk with a reservation and it took them 30 min to seat me. When you go to an upscale restaurant, you expect a certain level of service. That we didn’t get. Our waiter did NOT sale the menu. We told the waiter, Chris it was our first time to try and inspire him to explain the menu. Epic Fail. All he said to us was that you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Thanks Chris. Then my husband ordered the lobster bisque. It was not hot and not tasty. It took an hour for our food to even get to us and my steak(which according to Chris their known for) was again NOTHOT. I sent it back. My husband’s seafood broth dish priced at $ 30 was the size of an appetizer and salty. To sum it all I can say is DON’T BELIEVETHEHYPE. I DONOTRECOMMENDTHIS place. EPICFAIL

Overpriced and mediocre food. The atmosphere is lovely. The wait staff are knowledgeable. But the food is just so-so, and far too expensive. The night we were there, they said there was a «new» menu coming out. Apparently, they decided to charge us the higher prices(that were NOT showing on the menu). Food arrived at table a little room temperature. Fish was dry. Large party of us, and no one wanted to be the one to complain, but days later, we all confessed to being disappointed.

I’ve only been there once and it was last summer, but I won’t forget it. The restaurant was busy and we did not have reservations, but the hostess did her best at not having us wait long. The food was DEVINE! However, the appetizer which was the calamari was bland. I did not complain, since the wine, service and food was excellent.

Held a client dinner here while all of us out of towners and some out of country were in the vicinity. Needless to say we all left the restaurant very satisfied and happy that we had made the choice. The restaurant is situated in the historic and refurbished Union Station. One should also take the time to read the history of the restoration, as it in itself is quite remarkable. We experienced the full wall of stacked and available spirits and many of our party lingered to take a picture for their own records. Food was well presented and in all cases perfectly prepared, which in a group of 8 is typically not the case. We had ample time between the appies and the main dishes. Well suited to a client dinner where the time around the table allows you to get to know everyone more than if the food is constant and quick. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable in regard to their drinks and the menu.

Easily one of the best places to eat in Kansas City. The calamari and blue crab croquette as appetizers were truly excellent. They have a very extensive list of wine and drink selections, and you can’t really go wrong with any of it. The ambiance is classy and romantic with dim lighting and gorgeous architecture. Every entrée I’ve tried here has been first class, and the wait staff is well above average. We will be returning to savor this experience many times over!

My husband and I came here last weekend for dessert only. When our waitress Kyla found out we were only having dessert, she seemed to get a major attitude. She immediately cleared everything off the table — wine glasses, silverware, etc — without saying a word. She was very hurried and brusque and completely unfriendly the whole time. It’s like all she could think about was how much money she WASN’T going to make on us. We both had the bread pudding. It’s flambéed table side with rum. There was definitely too much rum. We would get it without next time. The bread pudding itself was DELICIOUS! We are on a hunt to find the best bread pudding in KC and this is one of the best! We will return another time and hope for better service.

I can’t say enough about how much I love the food here. Definitely one of my favorite places to have steak in town. Their happy hour is awesome and can’t be beat for food. Their red wine selection is decent, but for $ 5.50 I’m not complaining. The 10oz Prime rib-eye on happy hour was well worth my trip here. The mashed potatoes were like heaven. I have been back multiple times for happy hour/dinner and they never seem to disappoint. This will be a regular spot for me!

Pros: steak was amazing(filet mignon), the chowder soup was tasty, calamari was perfectly cooked — not over fried, wine selection was reasonable, bar was beautiful Cons: we sat in a darker room rather than bar, would have loved to sit at bar. Also I feel like they were bringing out courses too quickly before we finished each

One of the best meals in Kansas City. Pierponts at Union Station is a classy place. Five Stars. I was in Kansas for a conference and my friends in CA told me that I have to eat here. Ridiculous service. Ridiculous food(in a good way!). This place is located in the Union Station Train Station and oozes history. Seating is old fashioned vinyl. To start, they have a liquor bar that is to die for!!! The liquor is literally almost 10 shelves high and reaches to the top of the ceiling. I don’t drink, so I couldn’t appreciate the vast array of beverages they offer. Service is outstanding. Our waitress(sorry, I forgot your name. Happy Blond gal with short hair) was outstanding. She was fair with the reviews of the food and recommended some great dishes. Excellent service. I ordered the Kansas dry aged beef strip steak. I ordered it rare(which I always do) and the waitress didn’t even shudder. I like my meat rare(blue). Despite it being rare, the steak was very tender and tasty. I ate it with mushrooms. Delicious! Food Grade: A Service Grade: A+ Worth the Money Grade: B+/A– Overall Impression Grade: A

WOW. What a wonderful meal. A friend and I had a coupon so we figured we would try it out. We had not been before and our waiter was very helpful as to menu selections. We each had the taste menu which was perfect. Smaller portion sizes but more variety. For appetizer we had the calamari and it was DELISH. I had the blue crab and sweet corn bisque and it was the most wonderful thing I have ever put into my mouth. I dreamed about that dish last night, it was so good. Had the Chicken Ballantine with forbidden rice. Everything was exceptional. Food was terrific, servers and busboys were very friendly. The atmosphere was top notch. It was a great dining experience and I cannot wait to go back. Order the bisque. You will thank me! Lol.

First time at this KC classic. I was impressed with the level of efficient and helpful service; but, I was in a private dining room. I ordered the rib eye with the rub suggested by the waiter and found it to be tender, juicy, and probably one of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten. I’m a recently converted not-so-strict paleo and the appetizers that were ordered looked incredible and were totally engulfed by the other guests so they must have been good. They were all breaded in some way. The ambience in the room and the short history tour that the waiter provided was worth the cost of the meal(even though I didn’t have to pay). Fabulous meal. I would love to go back with my hubby for a romantic dinner.

I absolutely love the ambiance(put it on par with the Capital Grille), and the staff was awesome. I ordered the Coffee and Ancho Chili Rub with Grand Marnier Butter sirloin, and it tasted just like it sounds; a coffee ground covered steak. Wasn’t really sold on it. The calamari and salad were good, but all in all fairly average food.

I ordered the pistachio carbonara. It was really good, it came topped with mushrooms and sourdough bread was served before the pasta. I admit I couldn’t really detect the pistachio much. Also, the portion size looks small in the photo. It’s not. I liked it. Would recommend. Great vegetarian option! At the end, our sever gave use large(hand-sized) chocolate chip cookies. I think they were to celebrate the 4th holiday weekend.

Good stuff. Started with Braised Rabbit(nutmeg, spaetlze, Barbera D’Asti jus $ 10.95). More like shredded braised rabbit, but still quite tasty. For the main course I had the Kansas City Strip(14 oz. USDA Prime $ 44.95) medium rare with Baby Green Beans, bacon lardons, shallots, sherry. Good stuff. My other half had Filet Mignon(8 oz. USDA Choice $ 37.95) medium rare with Forest Mushrooms. She enjoyed it. For a dessert drink we shared the Dreamsicle(Absolut Vanilia Vodka, Cointreau, amaretto, orange juice and vanilla ice-milk $ 8.50). Outstanding. And the prices were more than fair when compared to a NYC Steak House. And I loved the sliding library ladder for the stacks like bar.

Classy lil date for $ 20 or anniversary dinner $$$, pick your occasion and adjust accordingly. Lounge bar menu is affordably amazing. The rest of it $$$ but deliciously classy. Truth, lil on the pretentious side but i like it and they deserve to be so. They pulled off quite the feat staying relevant as times change. I’ve seen a couple proposals, and birthday dinners, it’s a great special occasions kinda place. Valentine’s day they had a unique dinner and movie offering, and a couple other times with classic movies. Its such a stunning location at Union Station, which carries through to the restaurant. I’ve dined in for the lunch and dinner menus and the bill was hefty but expected. In the just as gorgeous lounge area, before our movie at extreme screen: Lemon drop 5.95, salmon slider 2.95 Boulevard draft 3.95, steak burger 5.95 Shared sweet potato fries 3.50 Got a gift card for the folks, loved it.
