This park would be better, When the dog owners take more responsibility in picking up their dog’s poop.

I may be a little biased about this park since I live next to it, but as one of the few parks in the business district it’s a little tiny patch of green freshness in the middle of downtown. The CID does a great job of keeping this park clean, landscaped and free of homeless(for the most part). They set up bistro type tables and chairs throughout the week for people to sit and eat lunch. And I noticed they just added a couple of new benches. The astrolabe is an attraction for kids and tourists. I like watching them try to figure out first what it is, then how it works. The upper grass deck IS used for dog walking for both Wallstreet and surrounding residential buildings. The CID installed 2 poop stations and for the most part people pick up after their dogs(ME! I pick up after my dogs every time!!) but there are people who don’t. So I wouldn’t really bring a picnic lunch and sprawl out on the grass. During the summer, M&I Bank(in Wallstreet Tower) hosts Friday Art in the Park. There’s usually a band and local artists displaying their work during the day. It’s a great place to sit and people watch on a nice day!

Great little greenery spot downtown. Every once in a while you will find some sort of event going on there in the summer, like band playing or an art event. It seems like the police have gotten better about kicking out the bums who were sleeping here. My only warning: The grass here is used a pooping zone for the next door Wallstreet Tower and Chamber Lofts. Residence normally clean up after their pets but… you know, NORMALLY. Careful if you get off the pavement.

I cannot think of a more attractive, urban, intimate park space in the city to enjoy an outdoor lunch. You’ll often see a nice variety of people here on any given weekday. There are plenty of spaces and tables to sit, relax and soak up downtown when the weather is appropriate. It is located within a block of P+L so there is ample opportunity to get takeout and enjoy it here. It is also located directly across the street from the historic, beautiful Andrews McNeel HQ building as well as Town Pavillion. If you’re looking for a good downtown lunching park or spot to read– this is it.
