Medusa Salon

Started coming to Medusa when my hairstylist, Amanda, moved there quite a few years ago. Amanda is great and the location is spunky and fun. All of the stylist seem to get along great and work with one another to make sure each client’s hair is perfect. I’ve seen them do hairstyles ranging from a style & cut for an older woman, to a nice trim for a younger male, to my hairstyle, which changes everytime I walk through the door. Definitely a great place to try out.

I almost hate to review this place because someone recommended it to me who swears by this place for fantastic haircuts. And I hate to say she doesn’t give a great cut, but mine was awful…
I have a feeling she just didn’t want to help me the morning I went – whether personal issues or didn’t want to deal with a new client. Perturbed even more by the fact that I’m super particular about how my hair should look (not too textured, but not blunt). At least my last hair stylist feigned confidence, and was sweet about the request, but this girl didn’t look happy at all.
As the cut progressed our relationship became more comfortable. I was impressed that she wanted to dry my hair before cutting off more (which is a good sign of hair competence). Then she starting shaping it, making it look more and more like her haircut, which was not what I wanted – at all. But I gave her the benefit of a doubt and let her continue. Big mistake. In a matter of a few snips, my hair went from salvageable to uh-​oh. She then tried to texture my ends and bangs, and I left looking like a 70’s rockstar, not in a good way…
The salon itself was comfortable edgy, with brick exposed from strategically placed sections of the walls. Full length mirrors in front of each chair station and a plush couch for those waiting. The other stylists were friendly, but also lacking that charm most hair stylists possess.
So now I’ve invested in hair binders and bobby pins so I don’t have to let my hair loose to show the mistake that was a haircut… I’m sure she gives amazing styles to folks she knows, but mine was a disaster…
