Love the Chicken Curry Soup with rice on the side. Desserts are amazing. This place is as good as it gets and is consistently high quality. I eat here often and will continue to do so.

I visited this bakery for lunch today since I was in North Town and wanted something new. I’m a vegetarian(pescatarian), so there were fewer options for me at lunchtime. The menu is small and written on a chalkboard. I read a ton about the Chicken Curry Soup, which was clearly off my list, but they had a seafood bisque on the menu. I was wary, since so often they are fishy or weird, but took the chance. I LOVED this bisque. It was creamy, rich, warm and satisfying to the soul. I can’t rave enough. I also tried an egg salad croissant sandwich. It was a solid basic. Nothing to write home about, but good. I’ll certainly return for the bisque and probably breakfast yummies.

So far I’ve had a cheese croissant, a raspberry and cheese croissant, a cheese danish and a ham and cheese croissant. I am a huge fan of croissants and these are definitely the best I’ve had so far. Super flaky and super delicious. I gave it 4 vs 5 stars as I’ve never been to another french inspired bakery for comparison.

Le Monde is fabulous. An unpretentious, delicious, family-run bakery and café that is mercifully north of the river, otherwise I’d be there multiple times a week. I have a bad habit of leaving laconic reviews lingering in my drafts for entirely too long, so here are the quick notes I typed up a few months ago: Love it. Great curry chicken. Tasty raspberry croissant. Really liked the owners. Definitely coming back. Great morning spot — well worth checking out. It was late summer/early fall when I visited, so the outdoor seating was a nice touch. And for real, though, that chicken curry is one of the best in the city

I lived in North KC once upon a time and stumbled upon Le Monde by chance. Since then, every single person I know could probably tell you that I am obsessed with their pastries, as evidenced by a coworker bringing me a dozen of them for my last birthday(best gift ever– thighs, shut up). Since moving, I tend not to make it here as often as I should, but went a few weeks ago and renewed my love affair. On a Saturday morning around 11 am, the case was full of an array of treats — plain, chocolate, and almond croissants… lemon, cream cheese, and cherry danish… and a million other things I had to resist ordering. I decided on an apple cinnamon danish to get in the fall spirit, and tried Le Monde’s cinnamon roll for the first time. The danish are always overflowing with filling and have a great drizzle of glaze on top. All of the danish are very sweet, so be warned. The cinnamon roll would have benefited from being warmed up and smeared with butter, but it was still good(not my favorite thing to get here, and not my favorite cinnamon roll in town). If you’re visiting for the first time, go the croissant route and you won’t be disappointed. The staff is always friendly and doesn’t make you feel rushed. They serve Roasterie coffee(usually a KC blend in both regular and decaf) and have a cooler with milk, juice, etc. I highly recommend getting one of their French baguettes to take home and eat plain, or whip up into some garlic bread with pasta.

The chicken curry soup was delicious and the croissants were flaky and ENORMOUS! I also tried the blueberry cheesecake Danish, which was yummy! The décor isn’t great and the selection isn’t large, but I do not think you will be disappointed.

I’ve only been for breakfast so this review is purely about their breakfast. I absolutely love Le Monde! The ham and cheese croissants are melt in your mouth good. Seriously, get one. You can go wrong with any of their danish or pastries either. Awesome cinnamon rolls as well. They also serve Roasterie Coffee. It cant get much better… .but it does! It’s a very small town type feel to it. I go on Saturday mornings and there is always the same old men sitting at their same table drinking coffee and discussing the weather, politics and sports. It’s very refreshing for someone who grew up in a small town. It’s on the smaller side and only has a few tables but its a small price to pay for such delicious food! I highly recommend trying this place out!

Hands down the best Thai Chicken Curry soup in town. This is their signature dish and I totally understand why. I ordered the soup with the spring rolls and it was definitely too much for one meal.

The chicken curry soup is divine, and I do no use this word lightly. The potatoes and chicken were cooked to perfection, and the curry itself was amazing. I had mine with rice(of course). I WILL be returning as I can not fathom I will ever find better curry.

Le Monde, I am so very sorry. We have known one another for years, yet I have refused to introduce you to my friends. You are so special and I have no excuse for hiding you… except for my complete selfishness. After all, you are only so big and if everyone comes to love you there may not be room for me. Worse yet, there may not be Chicken Curry soup, or Seafood bisque left after all the others have their way with you. I’ll just have to be satisfied with a crust of baguette, or a croissant, or a delicate pastry. I can do it. I can…

We stopped at this small bakery to grab a pastry. We chose a ham and cheese croissant and strawberry and cream cheese croissant. They were amazing! The croissants were supper soft and flaky. The fillings were delicious and we loved both of the ones we got. There was a wide variety of other flavors to choose from as well. We also picked up a cup of roasterie coffee. Definitely recommend a visit here!

I stopped in here after reading all the great reviews and this place was everything I had hoped it to be. I had a raspberry chocolate croissant and everything about it was just perfect; the flaky texture and everything else. I’ve never been a big fan of baked goods before but this place has changed my mind. My initial reaction to having a taste of this croissant can only be understood by those that have seen the animé Yakitate Japan.

I had a coffee and an almond croissant; my companion a chocolate croissant. We were there at 8am on a Saturday and the croissants were room temperature and had a firm, rather than flaky texture. Their croissants may be excellent when they’ve been baked that day but these clearly hadn’t been. The coffee was passable but bitter. This seems like a nice little place; prices were fair; and the service was great and very friendly, but I wouldn’t come back unless someone promised the baked goods were baked that same day.

Le Monde is one of my favorite lunch destinations! The chicken curry soup with rice is a surprising but delicious surprise for this French bakery. I have brought many friends here and we always leave with a couple sweet treats to go. Be mindful that seating is limited but everyone eats and heads out quickly so tables turnover often.

I have now been to Le Monde 4 times in past 2 weeks, and i still will stick with 5 stars from my 1st review because the pastries and soup is that incredible. But… I had the spring rolls today on a Friday, that are only served Wednesday to Friday. Sorry to say they were terrible. The wrap was soggy and covered in condensation. The lettuce inside was brown. This was not a personal taste issue, this was a quality issue. I can only envision that they make them on Tuesday and they sit in that plastic clam shell for 3 days. I’m sure they would be better on Wednesday but I’m not taking that chance. Stick to the Amazing fresh pastries.

Lunch of champions: spring rolls with peanut sauce and a raspberry chocolate croissant. Per order of spring rolls, there’s 3 and they are size-able! You can grab them up Wed-Fri. I’ve heard great things about their chicken curry and chicken salad around the office but I’ve yet to try them. Upon looking into the bakery case – you’ll be mesmerized by the pastries, scones, danishes, rolls, and croissants. My croissant was flaky and hit all the right notes. You’ll want to warm them up beforehand. They also serve Roasterie coffee which makes for the perfect partner with your sweet treat.

This is about my first visit to Lemonde. The service was wonderful and the settings are very intimate and cozy. This bakery primarily makes croissants and a few other danish-like pastries. I had the chocolate croissant and raspberry croissant. Just FYI, croissants are better when they’re warm. Anyway, I have nothing to complain about in regards to the food. It was fantastic with the first couple of bites but then the law of diminishing returns kicked in so by the last couple of bites, I was just trying to finish it rather than enjoying it. I’m a fan of small portions, but that’s just a personal preference. The price was very good for what I was getting. The two croissants cost me less than $ 5 and they were pretty big. Again, I would rather have the croissants in half the size(and cost a little less too of course). I’d definitely recommend this place for pastries and even lunch. They also sell croissant sandwiches like ham and cheese and chicken salad. There are also lunch specials everyday. The day I went they had curry and rice.

Great little bakery that I would recommend to anyone! This summer I went to Spain and I think I gained 20 pounds in the week that I was there on pastries alone! I drive by Le Monde all the time and when I came back from my trip I was longing for a great, flaky, chocolate filled pastry. And they had them! Walked in and it is a quaint little place with very friendly staff and the smell of baked goods and Roasterie coffee are in the morning air. I believe they also have lunch items and other breakfast foods, but I was focused on the baked goods. Le Monde only stays open until 2pm so plan accordingly. I purchase a chocolate croissant for about $ 2.40, and they were a lot larger than I excepted them to be. Of course I will always think about my Spanish pastries, but since I will not be able to get my hands on those for a long while, these are a great substitute! I will be going back to try out a few other goodies they have as well as I hear the curry soup is worth a try!

My husband and I both believe that the egg salad croissant sandwiches are the very best anywhere! If you’re headed that way you won’t be at all disappointed if you try one of the most amazing sandwiches ever! And the chicken curry soup will keep me comming back for more! & I can’t forget to mention the desserts… Awesome!
