KC Top of the Crown Grill

Do yourself a favor and buy food out of the vending machine. It would taste far better. I think this may be one of the worse meals I have ever had.

Absolutely awful! It’s not the prices I dislike, it’s what you get for the price. I would never even have been in there in the first place if my flight left on time. I had a delay of an hour and stupid me forgot to eat my breakfast. Kansas City «international» seems no more bigger than a strip mall. With the poor amenities to match, this restaurant serves food that doesn’t even resemble the description. I order the steak and cheese. Big mistake! It has cheese sauce from 7-​Eleven, meat that hardly could be called steak and the speed of service seems hardly justifiable based on the food I got. I ordered chips to accompany my steak and cheese. I changed my mind and asked if I could switch to coleslaw. I was informed that there was no coleslaw. So I was given the illusion of choice. When the chips came. They look pretty good. But I think I’m going to make an appointment with my dentist. I’m sure she’s going to ask me if I’ve been opening beer bottles with my teeth again. The so-​called potato chips are extremely hard. I should have soaked them in the water that gave me.

Had some time to kill in between flights, so my girlfriend and I decided to get a bite. They were showing the football games so I was sold. If you are looking for a drink, then this place will work. Eating… I would keep my expectations low. We had the tacos. Not recommended. We asked them if they have some type of stove and/​or chef preparing the food and they said no. So again .keep your expectations low.

1 waitress for an entirely packed restaurant. It’s 9:13am and they ran out of eggs… Good luck

The last few times I’ve been here for morning flights, they’ve been really unprepared. Last time, no coffee ready and the waitress was late. This time, when I got to the door at 7:10, it was still locked (they are supposed to open at 6:30). So, I had to go back outside security and grab breakfast at Boulevard. When I mentioned it to my waitress she said the cook was late.

Not bad… it has 4 TV screens to watch some sports and small seating area to enjoy the view. The menu is limited and the bar has carries the normal range of draft beers. There’s 4 x speciality cocktails but they are willing to mix things for you if you know the ingredients. The food was ok. nothing spectacular and the view was also nothing to write home about. The service was a little slow and they only had one server and one bartender. I think I went in with too much expectation. Will most likely return to see I get a different feel about it later.

Got the sausage and egg flatbread and it was pretty good. Plus, it overlooks the runway so you get to watch planes take off which is cool, especially if you have kids. Considering the lack of options, it’s a good choice.

Went by for a cold beer and brat. Received a cold beer and hot brat. Mission accomplished.

Awful bratwurst. Chips which could chip a tooth. Only plus is the view, but even there, you can’t see takeoffs or landings.
Get something else before you head through security as this is your only option afterwards (other than a snack kiosk, which is probably a better choice).

The pizza I had was fine, and there is a really good selection of bottled beers including several from Boulevard I can’t find at home. Service was spotty, but I can hardly blame the staff: This is the only place to eat in the entire Delta terminal. It was really crowded in the restaurant and only became more so as more flights were delayed. At least they have a tv screen showing flight statuses at the bar so people don’t need to leave to check their flights.
As a bonus, there’s also only one restroom, in the exact opposite corner of the terminal, which boasts just two stalls. So be careful about enjoying that bottled beer too much or you’ll find yourself making several long treks to stand in line for a restroom that may or may not be disgusting.
If you plopped this bar down in a different airport, I bet people would like it a lot better. The worst things about KC Top of the Crown Grill are caused by its surroundings.

Traveling nearly every week I had never tried this place, and I will probably not eat here again unless I’m dying of starvation. First of all there is very limited seating and most of the seating is individual chairs and a side table which is rather inconvenient. Very nice staff, but I’m pretty sure they threw my breakfast sandwich in a microwave considering it was maybe two minutes from the time I ordered it to the time it was in front of me. Overall, if you aren’t starving, don’t eat here. Not worth your time or money.

When rolling through the airport and getting to hang out in the Delta gates at KC… This is almost the only place to grab something to eat. It is about what you would expect from any quick airport restaurant/​bar. They score a bit low due to two primary reasons. 1. They don’t seem to have anything that sets them apart from a quicky food stand. Just one outstanding item on the menu that is either rare or signature would do the trick. 2. The staff. Obviously you will be either in a hurry for a flight or worried about when flights are coming/​going. A little of that urgency could be empathized with. I got my food and beer the same time they delivered to me a water. Even though I asked for the food to be set to go… so I stood while my food cooled and drank my beer and water then left.

Ordered the 12 dollar Cobb salad… It came without half the ingredients. When I asked them for them they said they were out. They should have told me when i ordered it. They didn’t discount the price of the salad either. Very poor service and attitude from the waitress.

The hubby and I ventured up to this dive while awaiting our Delta flight. We had to go hunt down the waitress to get service, but once we did, our drinks arrived quickly. Unfortunately, our waitress forgot us after that, so I had to hunt her down to pay the tab. She was sweet, but seemed a bit absent-​minded. Had we been in a hurry due to our departure time, this would have been much more annoying than it was. What clinched the 2-​star review is the place was dingy and run-​down and was not terribly clean. We noticed dust bunnies the size of Manhattan behind some nearby chairs and near the windows. This does not inspire confidence that they’ve paid appropriate attention to cleanliness in the kitchen.

If your flight is delayed at KCI, this is the only game in town for a sit down meal and it’s pretty minimal.
Minimal space with a minimal menu which provides minimal satisfaction.

Excruciatingly slow service and the bar tender has terrible customer service skills. He acted as if he was so busy that it was difficult to finally get to us, mind you, it was not packed. When we had to show ID for a drink, he grabbed it, looked at it and just threw it back at us. All this and we haven’t even gotten to the food. We waited 15 – 20 minutes before he finally had time to take our order. The bratwurst and pulled pork sandwich were terrible. The bratwurst was overcooked, the bun on the pulled pork sandwich was old and hard to chew threw, and the chips… ugh, just bad and flavorless. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND EAT BEFORE YOU GET TO THE AIRPORT. TRUST ME, ITS NOT WORTH YOUR TIME OR MONEY.

Dump. Food and drinks in plastic cups with disposable plastic cutlery. Very very random (read crappy) versions of basic food items. I saw cpk was here AFTER I came through. I’d give anything to go back out! Also the airport has wifi for free but I can’t use it as there are ‘too many users logged in’ according to the system. Jokeshop. Do not get caught with time to kill at delta terminal b…

I thought the same thing… Someplace to eat after security and is open before 7! Excitement consumes… However, the breakfast is pretty crap. The eggs tasted fake, the toast tasted like it was sitting out for a bit and then got toasted again. The sausage tasted like it was just nuked and my potatoes were still raw. If I ever come back it’ll only just be for a drink.

It is what it is: the only bar/​restaurant within the TSA-​secured area for those who are connecting on Delta and don’t want to go through Security again. The Italian Sausage sandwich was pretty good and my son said he liked his pulled pork sandwich. The drink from the bar was fine and cold. While I wouldn’t drive anywhere to eat here, I can’t complain about the food or drinks.
Service? There were 10 – 12 tables and a couple of fellows at the bar when we arrived but just one server who also bussed empty tables, tended bar operated the register and took orders. It’s not the server’s fault if service is slow. And she brightened up a bit with a sympathetic acknowledgement of her plight.
The management owes it to their staff and to their customers to schedule more staff. God knows their revenue should be high enough give the prices. Or, whatever entity runs the airport and sets rent for on-​site businesses needs to recognize this airport is, quite frankly, sub-​standard with on-​site goods priced as if it were an elite destination.

I hate to disagree with Matt E., but this place is not awesome. Indifferent, lazy service, particularly at a slow time of day. Okay food, and access to watching baseball, depending on if your flight is leaving at a time at which a game is on.
I mean, the Royals suck. So why pick them as your mascot for your bar? I suppose it’s appropriate given that’s how the Royals ownership comes in and out of town. Although, they probably private-​jet into the Downtown Airport, not this one.
Give it a miss.
