One day I was shopping at another grocery store in KCK. I was looking for any good deals on meat. This young guy is there doing the same and kind of moaning and groaning about the prices. He tells me I should check out Happy Foods West because they always have good meat prices. Well, many months later, I decide to head over there to see what they might have for Easter. I ended up buying 3 things. They have a huge selection of meat… cuts and parts and pieces you don’t just find anywhere. They had a huge case of turkey tails, for instance. The thing is, the prices aren’t that good, plus it’s obvious that much of the meat has been frozen A LOT, probably because they don’t get much foot traffic. If it was a bargain, I might consider a freezer burned, bruised up pork chop, but the only bargains I saw were 38 cent Budding meats that expired over 2 months ago and a GREEN piece of pork shoulder that probably should have been taken out of the discount bin around Christmas. We bought a pound of bacon(packaged) and two Lunchables and headed straight to the other store I had been at when I heard about Happy Foods West and bought meat for Easter.

I was brought here by my roomie from recommendations of cheaper crab legs. So I had the impression that this would be the«it» store for cheaper products. Not so. I walked in and most prices were run of the mill typical grocery store prices. Although I will admit that the meat selection was slightly cheaper. However you do have to overlook the outdated store. Maybe if I am in the area I would drop in, but I am not going out of my way anymore.
