Fable

After admiring Tara Light’s own creations for the past few years, I couldn’t have been more excited for her to open her own shop. My expectations for this store were high – and Fable still managed to exceed them. Mrs. Light has a very keen eye for design – a trait that carries through to her curatorial abilities. She has selected unique pieces from other American designers, including pieces from designers that I had never imagined seeing in KC, like the hand-​made Bryr clogs. Her own line is also available in the shop and, let me tell you, there are few greater feelings than pulling on one of Tara’s carefully crafted pieces of clothing. Better yet, Tara will be there to offer information about her work and the detail of her process, or to chat about the missions of the other great designers that she carries.
When you visit this shop, you’re doing more than finding a unique outfit or gift – you’re contributing to a wider conversation about quality craft in America. That may sound pretty heavy but, rest assured, you’ll be pleased with what you take away.
