This place is living up to its hole in the wall neighborhood bar. No frills about this places. Grab a beer, grab a seat, listen to the jukebox and just chill. Nothing fancy here and sometimes that’s what you’re after.

DBs is the neighborhood dive bar that we occasionally go to when nothing else is going on. We decided to go last Saturday night and before we could even finish our first beers the bartenders boyfriend who was there drunk out of his mind pulled a gun on one of my friends and was recklessly waiving his gun around the bar. When we brought it to the bartenders attention all she had to say was«I know he’s drunk and will be leaving soon» AREYOUKIDDINGME!!! We left and immediately called the police. I and no one I am affiliated with will ever step football back in this shit hole. I’ve tried multiple time to get in contact with the owner since the incident but still have not been able to reach him.

DB’s is pretty divey but after a long night shift at the corner healthcare establishment, heading here for a post-work beer with co-workers is just what the doctor ordered(#punny) Don’t have high expectations for this place but if you have some reason for boozing when most of city is sipping their coffee and heading to work, DB’s is not a bad place to be. Definitely an interesting place to people watch… you just never know how many people will be there around 8AM and it seems like you get people from all walks of life in there.

We had a blast! We were in town for the weekend and I have to watch the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating contest. The KC Unilocalers told me this place would be accommodating and they were right. We walked from our hotel and arrived around 10:45am. We were all sweaty and tired from the long ass walk and walking into DB Coopers was like a breath of fresh air — it was cool, dark and very comfortable. Everything I want in a dive bar. There was one other person in there who left shortly after we arrived, and the bartender. She was more than happy to turn on ESPN for our viewing pleasure. We watched the contest, had a few drinks, ate some funyuns and chatted with the bartender. All this for under $ 40? And they take debit cards? Next time we are in town, we’ll be back. Visiting a place like DB Coopers is why I think KC is one of the most friendly towns we’ve visited.

For some reason, my friends and I thought it would a great idea to start partying at 6:45 on a Friday morning since we all had the day off. I mean, it wasn’t, but thankfully D.B. Cooper’s is there for the times we decide you can’t wait until a reasonable time for the bars to open. This place is your typical dive bar, but with the added bonus of wondering who will wander in the door next. Will it be a nurse getting off their shift from KU Med? Will it be a gang of people still partying from the night before? Will it be someone that is having a horrible week and needs the comfort of morning news mixed with a yard beer? The answer is yes, to all of those. It’s like playing roulette with random drinking buddies. Sometimes, however, you lose when they decide to play country music on the jukebox. Don’t expect a lot out of this place, though. For one, the a/c was down the day we ventured and it definitely needed some ventilation. I think there were about four beers on tap and a somewhat limited bottle selection. But, if you are going to drink at 6am, I don’t think you need to be concerned about your booze choices.

If you’re looking for a dive bar with cheap pitchers and a laid back atmosphere, D.B. Coopers is it. Went on a Wednesday for karaōke and had a great time. All different skill levels singing, but it’s a very welcoming environment. Carpet on the floor is a little gross(5 second rule is definitely the 0 second rule here), but again it’s a dive and proud of it.

DB Coopers has a thoroughly weird name and cheap beer. Solid neighborhood dive bar. I wouldn’t necessarily travel to it, but I’m happy to have it nearby to stumble into.

If you’re looking for a place that serves $ 5 pitchers of decent beer and has quarter darts, go to DB coopers. If you want fancy drinks and amenities like lights and clean floors, go elsewhere. The music sucks for the most part though. Unfortunately.

Good, basic dive bar with a few American beers on tap. Karaōke on wednesday nights. Jukebox and darts otherwise.

Been here many times — its a great bar. it is clean — the bathrooms are clean and the drinks are far less expensive than most places. The bartenders will pour you a good one too. The did replace the red swivel barstools, loved those but they were worn out. Lots of friendly people from all walks of life, pool table, juke box, darts. If you work a late shift or want to start the day early — they open at 6am! Check it out,

Deebs as we like to call it in our home used to be the townie bar where we’d meet up with our 39th Street friends. The old CD jukebox was playing Otis, Beatles, CCR — good stuff, ya know, the beer was a flowin’, pool games going — it was great. WAS. Now it’s a divey bar that smells so awful you can smell it across the street, the digital jukebox plays top 100 trash and the bartenders SUCK! Don’t set foot in there unless you’re wearing protective garments.

I have been to this bar plenty of times now and at all hours…8:45am, 1pm, 10:45pm, etc… Let me bump this up another star. Why? Because I am a fan! DB Cooper’s always delivers good drink prices, an excellent juke box and great service. Call me a dive bar junkie, I don’t care, this place is it for me.

As far as a dive bar goes, this is the place. In the Volker West area, this is one of the 39th St. staples. Good people, odd sometimes, but great friendly faces to welcome you to the neighborhood. Tina is the best bartender in the world and will fix you up the best PBR pitcher you can get around the city! They do no serve food nor do they have anything remotely fancy in there, but hey they have a pool table, no windows, and chips. What more could you ask for in a grungy local dive? Oh and did I mention they open at 6 am? Word to the wise try and avoid that time of day… just sayin

To me, the best«dive» bars are the places that feel as comfortable and welcoming at 11:00AM(or 6:00AM if you’d prefer) as they do at 11:00PM. By that, I mean the kind of places you can go to almost anytime of the day for a cold beer, a shot and some good conversation. DB Cooper’s is one of those kinds of places. I have been to DB Cooper’s too many times to not give it at least four stars because, obviously, I’m a fan. DB Cooper’s is a «dive bar» in a completely natural and unforced way. It’s dark in the daytime, the carpet is worn, the bar stools are in need of some repair … but there’s a pool table, a decent jukebox, it’s comfortable and it’s cheap. I’m not going to try and«oversell» DB Cooper’s because I truly believe it’s the kind of place you either like to go for a drink or it isn’t. If it’s not, great, more room for me at the bar. But if it is, then you owe it to yourself to check it out.

apparently, this place gets me drunk. real drunk. real fast. so i can’t really remember most of my time spent here. i give it five stars. edit: to be fair, due to some strange Unilocal!-related events, i have now knocked it down to the two stars i would legitimately give it. but in my heart, it will always have 5 stars. Second edit on 10/24/2010: WTF Happened to this place? It has become about as welcoming a divebar as a pair of your average matronly mormon special underwear. I’ve boycotted it, after a series of events throughout my last dozen visits that range from buzz-killing to near catostrophic. What a shame. Down to one star, you!
