If a whole bunch of grannies got together and pooled their stuff in one place, it would be this store. The woman that works here is dear and she would probably be your granny if you asked her to be. The store is well organized and clean, and chock full of goodies. This is a great place to explore and reminisce(My mom/grandma/great aunt had that in her kitchen!) If you like to be eco-friendly and buy used instead of new, this is a good place to stock your kitchen. I don’t remember exactly, but I paid in cash so they probably don’t accept credit cards?

WOW, what a find! I have driven past this shop many times on the way to school and have always wondered what was inside, as the jewel-like displays of glassware are so intriguing from the outside. Inside is a maze of dishware and cookware. I found several beautiful fine China dishes in just the shade of blue I wanted, in addition to a rose colored jewelry container I couldn’t pass up. The woman who runs it is so nice too! Just fyi, she doesn’t accept credit cards. Cash or check only! It’s worth the trip.

Cute little store in a neighborhood with little parking options. But truly an adventure where you could spend an hour or more. Nice employee.

This place is truly a hidden jewel in Kansas City. If you are looking for anything«vintage» or «rustic» this is the place! I will note that this place is mostly dishes, and vintage house hold items. It is NOT furniture. I threw my sister a mad hatter tea party bridal shower and this was the place I found almost all the beautiful teapots and teacups! This place is not your average thrift store where you have to sift through the crap. Pretty much everything in here is awesome. The prices are what you would typically find in a thrift store! But everything you find is in great condition. I just love this place. If I could buy all new dishes I would honestly buy them here! So in love with this lady and her eye for«vintage» houseware!!! The only thing that sucks are her hours. Other than that get in when you can!

Oh my, where do I begin? I was driving past here on my way home and decided to slam on my brakes and pull in because the windows on the store had glass collections gleaming through them and I’m a sucker for sparkly things. I must say, as I walked through the front door I was thrilled and charmed by the collections of antiques, collectibles, and great used stuff. Normally this neighborhood is not on my list of places to hang out as I’m not fond of the East Side, but not only is her shop great, I couldn’t help but pay attention to the architecture of this cute building, too. I think I’ll pay more attention to this area in the future as I’m sure more hidden gems must lie tucked between the check cashing places and the pawn shops. Ms. Flora Blackwell, a class-act lady, has this quaint shop so neatly arranged and organized that it is a pleasure to browse the bazillion items she is able to accommodate in this space. I hope my photos clearly reveal that. Prices are super reasonable. I picked up a bone china cup and saucer(not matching, but still cool) for $ 2, but I’m headed back for other items as I needed to get cash. Purchases are cash or check only, no credit/debit cards. She has available gift certificates for sale as this is the perfect place to help deck out a new house or apartment. Most items are kitchenware, dishware, stemware and wall accessories. She is only open Wednesday through Saturday, so plan ahead, but DO plan to stop here!

This store has a wide variety of many different items. They have ample cookware, flatware and other kitchen materials. I visited in search of materials suitable for the renaissance festival and wasn’t disappointed. The prices aren’t that of a thrift store and may be on the higher end for used goods. The store is well maintained. Hours a little crazy. They are only open in the afternoon on certain days of the week.

«Thrift Store» does not do it justice; there weren’t clothes, shoes or purses. I just visited for the first time! Blackwells is on 63rd Street in Kansas City. It had oodles of old dishes, cut glass, cooking pans, baking items, utensils, umbrellas, mirrors, framed work, knick knacks, etc., etc. Some are contemporary; many are vintage. There was a 1970’s yellow wall phone, and then also a much older black rotary phone. In the front window there are many hues of vases and such; some were McCoy. My purchases were: Two unmarked, triple-legged, salad bowls that have scalloped edges and a cabbage pattern. One is light orange, the other is turquoise. I also got a bright orange Pyrex glass bread pan. Total cost: Less than $ 15. I will return to Blackwells. We had been in Overland Park. It took about 20 minutes to reach Blackwells. While on 63rd Street, we were wow’d by some giant, well-kept old homes. A few were manicured mansions; then we started seeing more modest homes and businesses. We also passed through a charming area called Brookside. We had no time to stop. Drats! It was charming. It looked like Estes Park or that bakery neighborhood in the movie where Will Ferrel brings Maggie G. some flours instead of flowers.

As you may know, I am NEW to KC. When I first moved here a few months ago, and got my new job, I got a new office, which is filled with windows. I said to one of my new KC friends, «I would love to fill my lovely new office with little bits of colored glass; it gets such lovely light.» New friend surprised me(I was just being WHIMSICAL) by saying, «You need to get to Blackwell’s.» This place is unbelievable. Vintage kitchen stuff, beautiful glass, gently used corningware, fire king, le creuset, copper pots… you get the idea. But! Also don’t miss the creepy little room filled with mirrors, the vintage cigar boxes, hat boxes, baskets and adorable coffee mugs. As much as I love Pryde’s(mmmmm, Pryde’s), instead of dropping an entire paycheck, I left with EVERY item that had struck my fancy for under $ 30. I now have my pencils in a beautiful little flowerpot, my paperclips in a blue glass art deco ashtray and my windowsills filled with colorful glass bottles. My office is the envy of the building and I can’t wait to get back to Blackwell’s. Also, the woman working was an absolute DEAR. I am in love with this place.

I SO wish I lived near Blackwell’s instead of 800 miles away. I would seriously be in every week. If you’re looking for kitchen knicknacks – skillets, Jell-O molds, cornbread pans, 100-year-old champagne glasses, crock pots – this is the place for you. It is impeccably organized(seriously, when was the last time you walked into a thrift store and mirrors and frames were separated into different rooms?) and the lady who runs the shop is the absolute sweetest. I ended up choosing a $ 3 etched champagne glass for my china cabinet, but I am sorely regretting that I didn’t pick up the cake stand I fell in love with here for $ 12. I saw a similar one here in Houston at a charity shop with an $ 80(!!!) price tag. Maybe I can convince my friend to pick it up for me, but then I run the danger of having her«adopt it» before she brings it to town. Cash or check only; the neighborhood isn’t the best, but put on your big girl pants and go with a friend(you’ll have more fun that way anyway). You MUST come here!

Blackwell’s Thrift Store is the best in the city hands down. Its run by the sweetest lady you’ll ever meet who keeps the place neat, tidy and well organized… she even has certain things organized by color! Best for secondhand kitchen items and home décor. Not really the place to shop for apparel. A hidden gem for sure. Go check it out today and make sure you’re carrying cash!

A hidden treasure. The ultimate kitchen thrift dream. Words can hardly describe how much i love Blackwell’s. The owner is sweet as pie and the goods you will uncover here are priceless. If you are a kitchen kitsch collector this is not to be missed.

This is a huge collection of lots of stuff. And it’s pretty cheap, obviously. But you need to know what you want, because there is stuff here that is out of date, or very specific, and if you don’t know what it is, you won’t know if it’s a good deal. For example, there is lots of old electronic stuff, and they were selling an old computer with some sort of linux OS on it, and it was working, so go figure. Also, there was an entire organ for a church, with four huge(and I mean rock-star huge) speakers for the taking. The clothing section was large, too, but I couldn’t find much stuff in my size. Also, they didn’t have any stocking caps. But they had lots of vinyl records. And tapes. And other nick nac electronic stuff. Anyhow, it’s a huge shop. Check it out.
