Wow! We’ve eaten at dozens of Mediterranean restaurants and this place is hands down the best. I mentioned to our server Mahaman it was our first time dining there and he put the menus back and asked how hungry we were and what we like. We started with a salad which was different than the standard Greek but even more delicious and the bowl of lentil soup was crazy good. They made us a special dinner with lamb, rice, potatoes and carrots with the most delicious sauce I’ve ever had. And a hummus shwarma plate which was equally good. Altogether with drinks it was $ 34 which was a great value for the quantity and quality of the food not to mention the terrific service. Well be back.

Aladdin is my go to place for delicious and healthy. /red ripe tomatoes, crisp roamine and I always feel great for hours. Try the roasted cauliflower and the Greek salad with grilled chicken — enough for two people or your own second meal :)

Tried the Krass Pastry plate — basically a huge spanakopita — very good! Wanted meat too so ordered a Kifta kabob as well — delicious. Also had light as a feather basmati rice and grilled veggies. Greek salad was really fresh and dressing was a little on the sweet side. I really enjoy trying new dishes and spices I’m not used to. Definitely will be back!

Service is good. My best guess as to the food is perhaps the quality of the ingredients used in their dishes — or the few I’ve tried — that makes the food taste so bland and not a good representative of this style of cooking.

This is a great spot. The food is consistently delicious and the atmosphere is comfortable. There are lots of vegetarian options and the baba Ganoush is the best in town. The service is spotty. They won’t check back with you in a timely manner so always order extra pita bread when you put in your order so you don’t have to flag down the waitress during your meal. Definitely get the lentil soup! It’s perfectly spiced and satisfying.

It took my wife and I 15 minutes of sitting at a table without menus or drinks for a server to finnally come ask a if we us been taken care of yet. So we ordered water and it took another 5 mins just to get that. Meanwhile a couple came in and was the book behind us. had drinks places their order and was eating by the time we even had out order taken. We were at the café for roughly 45 mins before we even got our salads and when we did get them nobody had brought us forks to eat it with. The couple behind us got their food and finished their meal between he time we ordered and got ours. The food was ok. But the SERVICEWASABSOLUTEYTHEWORSTSERVICEOFMYLIFE. HANDSDOWN! I do not recommend going here to eat. It is a waste of your time and patients.

This is so close to my work and yet I had never been. Came here with a friend on a Friday night for dinner and it was super busy! We were seated right away(surprising for as busy as it was) and our server took our drink order. It seems like it’s best if you order all at once. We said we wanted to start with the lentil soup and appetizers, but our server said he would come back when we had our entire order ready. The food was amazing. We had lentil soup and falafel to start. I had the sumac chicken and my friend had chicken biryani. It was A LOT of food. I had enough for two meals and ended up taking food home. Definitely try this place if you haven’t!

Food is fantastic. Went when it was pretty busy and the service was a little disorganized. But everyone is friendly and helpful.

One of my favorite lunch spots on 39th! If you like Mediterranean food, you’ll love this place! Been here for years, so you know it’s good! I generally have always gotten the shwarma sandwich, curry, or dill chicken sandwich. Once you find something amazing you stick with it right?! The service has always been great, maybe not the fastest, but just fine and friendly. Their basmati rice with tomato is one of my favorite sides of all time! Also, pita bread is always super warm, flavorful, and made daily! This whole menu is addicting! Go! It’s light, healthy and amazingly delishious!

Petra Platter, lentil soup & rose lemonade with saffron… Every bite was just perfect of the Petra Platter, excellent hummus. The lentil soup was tasty & exotically spiced. The rose lemonade was enjoyable but far too sweet… It’s nice that they offer complimentary refills, I enjoyed seeing bits of red saffron on my glass. The atmosphere & service is nothing special– but the food will keep me coming back.

The Aladdin’s Hummus appetizer was really good. In fact, it was the only hummus I have liked since leaving the Middle East. My friend got this cinnamon/ginger tea holiday tea that the waitress recommended. I got the sage tea. His tea was better, sweetened. Mine was good, unsweetened. We ran out of pita bread while waiting for our entrees. The waitress put in a request for more hummus. After about 10 – 15 minutes, I asked about the pita bread again, and she said the people in the kitchen were stingy with the pita bread. Really!!! But, we had so much hummus left. We were there 2 hours before close, so I guess they just ran out, but I am happy they ran out because the warm pita bread was twice as good. My friend got the Cauliflower Zahra. He seemed to enjoy it along with his Greek salad. I got the Shawarmah chicken plate and the lentil soup(soup was luke warm…: /). I was not loving the entrée, but the hummus more than made up for the somewhat flavorless entrée.

Had a friend come in from St. Louis and stopped here unplanned, as it was close to where we were going that evening. There was four of us and we shared Raja Dip and Grilled Feta Shrimp to start our evening. It was delicious and that’s an understatement! I had Gyro Hummus, which is an appetizer but honestly it is a meal in itself! The meat was cooked just perfectly. The waiter was friendly and made our evening out fun! Order the pink lemonade, it’s authentic Middle Eastern flavor is a treat in the heart of Kansas City!

Why are there so many great places to eat on 39th street? Well, Aladdin’s Café is another on the list. We started with hummus(yum!) Greek salads(yummier) and then a traditional gyro and a chicken souvlaki gyro, wow! Our wonderful host then gave us a complimentary cup of ginger cinnamon tea. Perfect on a chilly day. We’ll be back soon!

I had the gyro platter, lentil soup and a Turkish coffee, all of which were delicious! A special note for the Turkish coffee, I believe it’s the best I’ve ever had. Service was prompt and friendly. Everything was clean including the bathroom. Average plate is about $ 10, appetizer $ 5. Would definitely recommend.

This place has my favorite gyro. For those of you who know me, I consider myself a long time Mediterranean food connoisseur. I generally order the traditional lamb gyro and this place uses chunks or super tasty, super juicy lamb instead of those strips you just know come in frozen at other places. The gyro was also HUGE. And for my $ 8, I got the gyro plus a side of rice and also my choice of soup or salad. The dressing is a bit citrus-y and not your typical«Greek» dressing. It’s good though. I come here to sit outside, I admit. Not a huge fan of hanging around inside this place. It’s quite small. But they do have carry-out which I’ve used several times. I admit, I haven’t branched out a bunch here because I love their gyro so very, very much. I’ll get on that right away!

My friends and I were looking for a Mediterranean place to eat lunch and we found this place. We were not disappointed. The place was a bit cold but otherwise we had a good time. The food was delicious. I started with their cinnamon ginger hot tea. It was really tasty with fresh ginger in it. I had the chicken kabob plate. I started with the Greek salad. It had a nice herby vinaigrette on it. The kabob was nicely cooked, juicy. Rice was flavorful too. My friends had various other items and they liked their meals too. Good salad and lentil soup. The kids had chicken and fries. They seemed to like their meals too. The place is a small whole in the wall with great food. Next time I am in Kansas City, I will definitely be back. And my friends who live local will definitely be back.

Amazing food and amazing lentil soup just like everyone says! There’s no arguing that. But the food is so good that the restaurant tends to skimp on service. The employees are rarely very friendly, and I always have to spend forever trying to get their attention if I need something. But I have to say, it hasn’t kept me from coming back — the quality of the food really outweighs the poor service! My parents love coming here when they visit KC because of the lentil soup and halal meat, and my friends that don’t eat meat love coming here too because of all the vegetarian options.
