Kind of disappointed with the food here. Almost every review was positive about the food. I ordered the kimchee fried rice, poke bowl and shoyu chicken. First is the kimchee fried rice, I was rather disappointed with this. The taste was extremely spicy and sweet, which kind of made me think it was spoiled. I didn’t finish this at all. Second is the poke bowl, this was very disappointing. The amount for the bowl and the amount of poke you got was not equal. It was more of a rice bowl than a poke bowl. Third was the shoyu chicken plate, it was so so in flavor but probably the best out of all three plates I ordered. I will not becoming back to this place again!

Found this great little diner by mistake. It’s great for breakfast and lunch, you must order inside and pickup at the window outside. Sit at a table with the locals, they are funny and will talk story all day long.

I wanted to like this place bc I’m from Kane’ohe & work in town so I haven’t been here in years. Went for the stew lu’au which I guess was under a previous owner :(Menu caters to the mostly-tourist crowd. 30MINUTEWAIT for overcooked(almost burnt) dry fish katsu. The garlic fries has no garlic just a pinch of furikake, little pool of oil at the bottom of the container. The potato salad was spoiled. Can soda was warm. Even the ketchup was really runny, seemed watered down. The floor inside was so sticky my slippers were making noise with every step. Ditto the inside counter. part of a page ripped off when I moved my book to put down my plate. The view is nice though. Maybe I just went on a bad day. There is free ice water and the cashier was very nice, so aloha, kept checking how the ppl inside were doing. I won’t be back to get food here tho. If you are ‘ono for fried fish and a view of Kane’ohe Bay, pick up a plate from Fresh Catch and bring it here to eat on the pier.

If your looking for a dive/local joint. This place takes the cake. I got the fried rice with a fried egg. My husband got the poke bowl. The staff here are some of the friendliest people we’ve came across. Along with just the other patrons in the place. This place would get above 5 stars in my book, we will be back again before our trip is over. Please take the drive on the east side and do yourself a favor and check this place out!

What a find! A popular local spot and now tourist spot! Yes, I’m of those tourists. When we first arrived at He’eia Kea Pier, we thought we were lost. But our GPS says we are at the right location. Then we thought, maybe the place is no longer there. All we saw was a shack by the end of the pier. Still we got out of the car and walked over. And of course, we were there. There are 2 outdoor picnic tables. The deli part inside fits about 10 people. There’s a row of seats along the windows, allowing you a great view of the ocean and boaters passing by. We got the kimchee fried rice and loco moco plates. Oh my! Huge portions. The kimchee fried rice was amazingly good and satisfying! The loco moco was good too, but the fried rice had more flavor. I am definitely a fan of hole-in-the-walls and good eats!

This place is just unbelievably awful. I live nearby and have tried it four times. Every time I have awful experiences! I guess it’s my fault for continuing to go back… today I ordered and paid for a Teri burger with tomato, lettuce and onions and garlic fries. I got a plain burger w regular fries. They used to hand make the burgers but today it looked like a frozen patty from Costco. I tried to call to complain but no one answered the phone and I couldn’t leave a VM bc box was full. Three male workers there very unfriendly, female worker nice but seemed new and unskilled. If I could give less then one star I would. It’s such an awesome location if they could just get their act together the place could be such a hot spot!

My husband and I went here for lunch last weekend. I got the poke bowl, which came over rice. It was super fresh and simple. My husband got the shoyu chicken, which was 2 chicken thighs with rice and a little macaroni salad. It was DELICIOUS. The chicken literally fell off the bone. We sat in the little covered area by the water. It’s super casual and the view is amazing. We are looking forward to going back to get the shoyu chicken again and we’ll also probably order the teriyaki burger next time. Fresh, local food in a no frills environment.

Went to do a site visit for work and I remembered that Guy Fieri’s diners drive ins and dives had done a segment on this place. I Had the fish tacos & garlic fries. Price was worth it 7 $ for 2 tacos with a genorous portions overflowing out of the taco & garlic fries were 3 $.

I really wanted to come here during my visit because I saw it on Diners drive ins and dives on food network. It’s pretty easy to find, very quaint local feel. Right on the dock. I got the daily special which was beef stew, pretty yummy and huge portion size! I could have split it with someone. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that they did not have anything on the menu that I had seen on the show. I think the management changed because the lady said she’d need to learn how to make it because everyone asks for those dishes. Great friendly service

Good to great food. But OMG, so, so slow. My wife had fish and chips that was good but not great. I had two, small, fish tacos that were great — probably the best I’ve had on-island. But damn, order, then wait, wait, and keep waiting 15 – 20 minutes for the food to be cooked/presented. Bear in mind, this is fast food-esque type of place although all food IS cooked to order. There were only 3 or 4 customers ahead of me… I wouldn’t make a special trip here(this time we did from Lanikai) but would go back if driving by the pier.

Since Mark left, the food isn’t the same. My father grabbed a Loco moco plate and the burger came out super thin and super koge, burnt to a crisp. The«house made» kimchee definitely the same as the one found in safeway, the fried rice was super dissapointing. Only things I liked about this place is the views and the lion coffee. It just came under new management along w a new head chef so hopefully it turns around soon!

This place has been getting some really negative ratings since Mark Noguchi left. Personally, I can’t remember the last time I came here. Every Wednesdays, since last month, we’ve been coming out to this side for work. One time we were passing by, I told my co-worker that we should try it out. Her response was that she heard the food was no longer good since Mark left. Today, we decided to try it out. The food was actually on point. We ordered the poke bowl, shoyu chicken plate, kim chee fried rice, and fish tacos. The ahi poke was fresh and just melted in my mouth. It was an interesting combo of limu, onions, and sea salad. It was just a tad too much onions for me. The kim chee fried rice was perfect. It wasn’t too spicy or salty. The fried rice was loaded with ingredients. I didn’t try the fish tacos but my friend said that it was ok. She liked it the least out of the 4 items. The best dish was the shoyu chicken. We both agreed on that. It was more like teriyaki chicken because the sauce was on the sweeter side. The sauce was so good. The 2 chicken thighs must have been pan fried or baked, because the skin was browned and a little crispy. The meat was tender on the inside. The next time I come, I’m definitely going with the shoyu chicken. As I’m getting my food, I see renowned chef Fred DeAngelo, walking up to the second floor office. He’s the co-owner of Ola restaurant at Turtle Bay. I guess he’s taken over this place, which is a good sign. He’s very knowledgable about food. As we were leaving in the car, he waved to us. I don’t know if he remembers me, but we worked the opening of Planet Hollywood in Waikiki together. We were both there for years. That was about 20 years ago and I was still in high school. He was the executive chef, even back then. No, I didn’t work in the kitchen. I would have been fired the first day. I don’t have a cooking bone in my body. I worked the front of the house. If you’re reading this, «Hi, Fred. I want the recipe for the Chicken Crunch and Texas Nachos that you used to make at Planet Hollywood.»

«Be aware of your environment» Came here to Heeia pier after a many decades absence. As good friend Unilocaler Nadine C. has said, this small boat harbor on the windward side has it’s charm as a nice place to visit, especially when doing the circle island tour. But this review is about the little store that serves up grinds for pier visitors. Mistake #1– you are on the water at a pier, why, oh why, did we order burgers? Mistake #2– should have noticed that most people were ordering fish tacos or plate lunches.(this is what people were ordering after us. This is an example where sometimes it’s better to not be first in line so you can see what people are ordering.) Mistake #3– not paying closer attention to the Unilocal comments. Everyone talked about a major change a few years back– wish I had the opportunity to have tried chef Noguchi’s offerings. The burgers were unbelievably charred. More charcoal than meat. After picking off the burnt crust there was less that 50% meat left. Looking around us not one person had ordered a burger. You want a burger? Better you go to McDs or BK and bring it to the pier. Conclusion: stick with the fish tacos or plate lunches, they looked like better bets. Maybe they just had a bad day grilling the burgers but I’m not taking a chance next time. Zero for the burgers, the sweet potato fries were pretty good, the gals in the store and counter were pleasant and friendly.

This place is cute, decently priced and has good food! Not a place I go often but kind of fun to take the boat over for a bite to eat on the pier. Not a huge fan of all the tourist boats leaving from the pier but I seem to luck out in not hitting a rush from them when I’m there — they usually just focus on getting to the boats. The new management seems to be a hit and the remodel looks good but kind of bummed about the new menu… still delicious but missing some of my old favs!

Bad bad bad. This place has lost its charm and what a shame. Gooch has moved on newer and better things and it’s very apparent in the product they are putting out. The food is terrible and very inconsistent.

The place is now closed Out of business no fuel no ice no bathrooms. STATE Marina facilities are the worst in the nation. The building is termite ridden and Rottenwood. There’s not even a flagpole. Such a shame for such a potential for the local aquatic community and international tourist. DLNR harbors and state land board are responsible to the people and community. There needs to be partnership public and private enterprise which benefits everyone. Tear down the building build a new modern facility remove and replace fuel tanks Build new restroom facilities to accommodate the mass busloads of tourist Remove and replace the MSD tanks for pump outs of tour boats and yachts holding tanks To envision your mother for Sillinti serves everyone on the Windward side fuel are use over-the-counter food something that’s attractive . Build a facility that meets clean marina standards Incorporate a BOATEL with forklift and trailer storage across the street

Saw this place on Guy Fieri’S DDD, now when we first got there the place was not a real looker. My family of nine kind of hesitated, this was the one of the places I chose to eat at. Service was cool. A few transient walking around but all good. The loco moco here was ‚ And !! Also had the chicken cutlet loco moco. My brothers all loved it. We had loco mocos at 4 different other places, this was the best! Keep Up the good work brother with the missing tooth!

Unilocal365CHALLENGE2014−(241÷365) «Not Worth The Drive» As I guessed it, when Mark Noguchi left, so did the onolicious menu items and the reputation he helped build for He’eia Pier General Store & Deli. So quit watching Food Channel/Cooking Channel clips of the Chef Noguchi days and save yourself the disappointment. The kitchen is now run by local kids who are busy talking story among each other and it looked and sounded like they wore more interested in the upcoming festivities after their work shift rather than tending to their customers at the window. We ordered the Guava Glazed Chicken Burger just to try, since Chef Noguchi’s signature items are also a thing of the past… It was okay, but kinda stingy portion wise. Oh well… Been there, done that… NEXT! ALOHA!!! Shaka Meter: \uuu/\uuu/2

I decided to try this place out because I saw it on one of those food/cooking channels. I can’t remember which one it was, but I bookmarked it on my phone after I watched the episode. My fiancé and I decided to stop by here on our way back from a super intense hike up in Kaaawa, the Crouching Lion Hike, and we were starving and craving some really good local food. This little store is located right at the end of the pier. I love the view of the bay from here, and how you can just enjoy your food while watching the boats sail across the water. As far as the food goes, we ordered the luau stew and the guava pork-chop plate lunch. I enjoyed the luau stew which comes with rice, and the guava pork chop was alright. The mac salad was also just okay… nothing special about it, and I felt like it needed a little more flavor to it. Overall, I enjoyed my lunch over at this joint but in the future I probably wouldn’t take the time to drive all the way out there unless I was in the area.
