My favorite place for ramen and curry on the windward side. Great service! Love the atmosphere here! Ayame ice tea is a must when you come here!!! All these negative reviews just expect too much and need to relax.

Me and my gf stopped in here because I was craving curry but she wasn’t hungry so we got a Chicken curry combo for me only. The waitress that took our order gave me stink eye and quickly grabbed the menu from my hand. When the food came out they basically just threw it on the table and left. I never got a refill for my water. Never coming back here again.

Come here often enough to eat one of their combo meals. Today was the Mochiko chicken curry combo with a shoyu Ramen and gyoza. It was really good and I enjoy eating here. My daughter had the chicken katsu curry combo. Their portions are pretty good, and we cannot finish all our food no matter how hungry we are.

Ramen house special was yummy and well worth it! This place could definitely improve their customer experience, lady we encountered(just with take out), was disrespectful and rude. Typically I give staff the benefit of the doubt, but they certainly weren’t busy. Typically I don’t write reviews but I’m hoping the owner will see this so they can improve their customer interactions. At the end of the day it’s a simple fix! Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be going back, if I do it will be a last resort for takeout only.

Don’t know the draw to this place. Ordered Won Ton Soup, Saimin & Shrimp Fried Rice to go. Bill was over $ 26! Won Ton. $ 8.50, Shrimp Fried a Rice $ 9.75(really?) n Saimin $ 7. Hard to believe Saimin was once .50 a bowl. Soup awful, one piece of pork n kamaboko. Had to add more kamaboko from my freezer and more green onions to the Saimin plus my own chicken stock after I dumped their soup. Fried rice okay. Added more kamaboko n onions to fried rice too. Noodles were ok. Live near Windward City Shopping Center, so no other place for Saimin nearby. I’ve tried this place 4 times in the past 10 years n swear each time I will not go back. I must be a glutton for punishment. Overpriced.

The ramen was a bit of a disappointment. The noodles were ok, but the broth was bland, and their was only one piece of fish cake and char siu. Their curry and chicken katsu tasted pretty good though. Service was average. Overall, it was an alright experience.

I was looking around for a ramen place to fix my craving, and I recalled that this place was in Windward City shopping center. Unfortunately, I would have rather driven to Kailua to look for another place. I ordered the katsu curry ramen combo(katsu curry with rice, small bowl of ramen and gyoza) for $ 13.50. The price isn’t too bad for the quantity, but the quality was bad. the katsu curry was okay but the broth for the ramen tasted like watered down shoyu(soy sauce), the noodles felt old, and the gyoza tasted like it was pre-frozen and store bought. Overall, I would not come back here and would be willing to go out of my way rather than come to this place for ramen

The worst customer service that I’ve ever dealt with!!! I used to love eating here, but after the last horrible customer service never again. I vocalized my complaint and the guy cannot even look me straight in the face. He keeps looking in another direction and saying we don’t want any trouble. I’m not trying to create trouble but trying to inform them of the disrespect and disservice that I received. If thats considered trouble, they will no longer get business from me or my family. Horrible!!! They don’t even deserve a star

For the ramen connoisseur, Ayame shouldn’t be on your radar. It’s more of a fast food ramen place for those who want a quick and reasonably priced lunch. I had their regular miso ramen and it was a total«meh» in my book.

Having lived in Okinawa, Japan our family is very particular when it comes to our curry and ramen. We were not disappointed! My husband and I each tried a different curry and ramen combo and were incredibly satisfied. The meals also came with gyoza which were very tasty. The portions are filling … you definitely get a lot for your money. We have found our new favorite restaurant and will be here regularly. We are looking forward to trying their unagi bowl next!

The taste factor is subpar for a place that boasts a Japanese name. It is run by Chinese and tastes like an attempt at Japanese food. The server was hardly friendly and was on the phone almost the entire time. I didn’t mind the strange TV show despite it blaring profanity. It is over priced and subpar in flavor.

This used to be a five-star place but, the service has changed here. I hope my most recent visit was just a hiccup because it was terrible. I convinced my friend that we should lunch here as it is a favorite with my family. When it was time to order, I ordered the fried eggplant curry w/rice and the ayame iced tea. The young man who was taking the order informed me that he would not be able to make the tea for me because he was too busy but, he would try to make it later if he had the time. Admittedly, there were a couple other occupied tables and he seemed to be the only worker. I was slightly annoyed at that so I cancelled the tea and just went for the water. After all, it wasn’t worth their time to make it and, for me, it was just a drink. My friend’s order arrived and she dug in while I waited for mine. And waited. When it arrived, it looked delicious… aside from the hair that was in it. We politely motioned the waiter over and whispered that there was hair in my food and he immediately apologized and took the plate away. Now, I was annoyed and grossed out. We waited some more and he brought another plate of food, apologized again, and set it before me. I had lost some appetite, so I only ate a couple pieces and decided that it was time to go. For all I know, it could have been the same plate and they just removed the offending addition. I paid for the food(yes, I was still charged and did not expect otherwise) and we left. I am soo disappointed. This was the first time I was denied an order here(due to the busyness of the place) and the first time I got a little extra in my order. They are normally excellent so 5 stars for that but, with this 1 star visit, I’ll average it out to 3.

Ayames is a family favorite, whether it’s just my parents and I or my tribe of siblings and cousins, everyone finds something good to eat here. Probably the best Japanese curry house on the windward side. Portions are generous and reasonably priced. It’s in a shopping center so parking isn’t usually a problem. Favorites include chicken katsu curry or mabo tofu on their char siu fried rice. Kim chee ramen is also fantastic. :)

I have been going to Ayame for at least 12 years. I love the place, the people, and especially the food. One important factor is taste consistency, for 12 years their food has always been wonderful. Now that I have a family, we all go when we get the chance(we live in town now). My two younger boys always get the kids meal. Mini shoyu ramen, spam musubi, and orange drink for $ 5.50. Always a winner for them. My oldest boy loves the pork fried rice. I always try new things, but really love their spicy ramen. My wife loves their eggplant curry, or their mapo tofu. I would always recommend this restaurant to friends and family.

This is my to-go spot after church or any day when I need a quick, tasty brothy, comforting bowl of noodles. I usually get their house special– perfect kick of spice to add to a good bowl of noodles. Their sweet potatoes and gyoza are yummy too. Good prices and fast service! Note: if you want extra ac it’s good to sit at the table in front of the door– the air from their split air goes right to that table.

My favorite curry restaurant on the windward side, my go to meal is the Fried Chicken Curry, the batter is light and not too thick like a chicken katsu. There is lots of eating space and the food comes out fairly quickly.

We went to try this place out again to see if the first time there being meh was just a fluke. Nope. In fact it got worse. At least the air con worked and this time we got out water re-filled but the service was just bad. The older woman took our order without much expression and was already walking away before we ordered our 2 y/o her kids meal. The food came out spread over time. First the kids meal. Which when she set down her thumb entered the ramen soup. Then my ramen. Food to other tables. Then my fried rice. Food to other tables. Then our croquet. Then food to other tables. Then more time. Then our gyoza. It took 20 minutes from the first dish being dropped to the last one making it to the table. I actually could have ate all my food before the gyoza was dropped. And even the ramen noodles did not taste as good as the previous visit. Needless to say, we did not tip the server. Nor do I think we will return.

First thing that comes to mind is WOW!!! This IS a hidden gem. It really is hidden. It’s located near McDonalds, right next to L&L fast food restaurants. Regulars keep coming back and here’s why… Don’t let the unassuming store front fool you. Inside packs a culinary powerhouse. Amazing bang for your buck. You won’t leave hungry here. $ 10 will get you a combo meal plus a beverage. Recommended: Lemon Iced Tea– Very flavorful with fresh lemons; helps as a palate-cleanser especially when ordering a combo with flavors of the fried rice, chicken, ramen, curry, and Gyoza. Can’t go wrong with eating their Chicken Katsu Curry, Charsiu Combo, Pineapple Chicken Katsu Fried Rice, and the GYOZA. But truth be told, all the combos are pretty good and you get so much food for the price. Enough for 2 meals under $ 10. NOJOKE! Gyoza is filled with tender meat, very fresh. The owners Tiffany and James are extremely attentive, great service. Wonderful and friendly.
