The 2016 Unilocal 100 Review Challenge: 4⁄100 I have never heard of the Parker Ranch Store or shopping center till my cousin told me about Pineapple Snow. If you like chocolate covered macadamia nuts, you should try Pineapple Snow. It’s white chocolate covered macadamia nuts with bits of pineapple pieces. The store is interesting and everything in it represents the Paniolos — Hawai’ian Cowboys. They sell other snack items, coffee, and gourmet food made exclusively for Parker Ranch, and a couple of other items that are made in Hawai’i. So you won’t find these, especially the Pineapple Snow anywhere else. They also sell clothing, cowboy gear, and a few items from local artists/creators. Yes, some items are available online but I’m sure the shipping cost will be sky high. But if you’re desperate for some Pineapple Snow, they sell it online as well. If you’re in the area, this is a must check out place. Especially if you’re into horses and cowboy stuff, It’s worth the visit. When I tell people not from the Hawai’ian Islands about Hawai’i and our history they don’t believe me when I say we have Hawaiian Cowboys. It’s an interesting mix, but tells a lot about our history. This shop is located in the Parker Ranch Shopping Center. And not hard to find. I will be back the next time I’m in town, to get the Pineapple Snow! It’s a must for me, and I’m sure my Vegas relatives will be requesting it the next time I go back home.

I have bought things at this store many times over the years and been happy. However, I bought my wife on the mainland a beautiful large handmade koa hair brush last week for $ 70(! Found it in King Shops later also for $ 20 less) No matter. Gave it to my wife as a gift, and she prefers the smaller one. We did not use it, so I just now called about exchanging it for the smaller one, and they would not do it because it is «excluded» for exchange. Even though they did not tell me that when I bought it. A genral caveat on the receipt. So no can do. What is very sad here is that a big store with bad customer service would exchange no problem. But a small store, with supposedly good, local customer service will not. This shop is very expensive and some unique items, but… no mo’. Buyer beware about returns and exchanges… and cost. :(

It was somewhat difficult to find this place, but we finally located it inside of the Parker Ranch Shopping Center. It is definitely the definition of a tourist trap, but they actually have some pretty cool and unique items. The store offers an expansive selection of Parker Ranch branded merchandise, along with other gifts crafted by local artists. The employees were definitely friendly, but were a little bit too pushy at times. A nice place to stop for some unique gifts on the Big Island!

Selection and friendly staff made this a local hideaway gem. While waiting for Merriman’s to open we got adventurous and drove around town and found this place. Great selection of local skin care products we found a wonderful cream to ease our sunburn and of course we had to purchase some of the treasures to bring back home. Rodeo is big in this area so they have a full selection of related apparel. Plenty of men’s and women’s clothing you won’t see at other shops.

They sell Boys Wrangler jeans. And for that reason alone, I am a fan. The End. Adventures in mommyhood 101– My kids have been potty trained for years so when my son decided to pee in his pants at that wooden playground right before we were supposed to eat dinner, I was totally unprepared and pissed off(and pissed on). What would YOU do? a) Nothing. Go to dinner with his pants wet and snelling like urine. b) Find the nearest place that sells children’s clothes? c) Tie a jacket around his waist to cover the wet spot. d) Remove the wet clothes and put it under the hand dryers in the bathroom? After some arguing back and forth(because some of us actually considered all the options), we chose option b, but discovered that Giggles was CLOSED. Jeans Warehouse only carried girls pants, not boys. Our last hope was Parker Ranch Store, which sells paniolo(cowboy) «stuff». I had seen this store the last time we ate at Village Burger next door but never gave it a second glance. After all, they sell cowboy stuff like jeans, hats, belts etc. Why would I ever need cowboy stuff? You just never know when you’ll need cowboy stuff. YEEHAW. OPEN M-Sat 9a-6pm, Sunday 9−5p

A nice place to stop and browse when traveling through Kamuela on the Big Island. Nice cowboy-style items for gifts. There is a food court connected to the store, so a good place for kids to let off a little steam.
