Good place to buy pastries for the entire family. Custom made cakes for the special occasions are good enough. They are not fancy, but have substances. Yummy.

A big Island Treasure! The«Big John’s» as she calls them were the best Bavarian Cream treats we have had the pleasure of experiencing. The cookies were wonderful too. Two-for-two; that alone would make this a spot for repeat visits. Then there is the icing-on-the-cake, Leilani serving customers those wonderful treats. Take the time to get to know this women and you will have a friend to greet you each time you return. Ask her what her name means and she will say one thing but we think it means Big Island Gem! Arrive early because the bakery items go fast.

This is my first time ever writing a review on any business. First thing I look at is customer service. First time I went there, did a little conversation with the lady behind the counter & she was very nice & helpful. I liked the service I got plus the pastries I picked up that day was delicious! Whenever I’m in Kamuela, I would stop by the bakery. Let me tell you, I keep going back there because I love their butterhorn & cinnamon buns. However, I began seeing the counter lady as rude person. One occasion I wanted to use my debit card & she started grumbling about charging a service fee to use my card! I pointed out to her that she has a credit card machine at the counter, so she told me she won’t charge the service fee this time! I was pissed, but didn’t complain. Visit after that I seen she had a written sign«CASHONLY» at the register, but she accepted 2 credit card payments from the customers ahead of me! From the way she was conversating with them, they must live in the vicinity of Kamuela. From what I’m getting is that she will be super friendly with«locals», but not with out-of-owners. Today was the last straw. Still got crappy attitude, told her I wanted 4 cinnamon buns. Decided to watch her last minute grabbing the pastries & I noticed she was shifting buns around, deciding which ones to give me. Imagine how pissed I was when I reached home(Hilo) & seen she gave me 3 small pieces &1 big piece! That lady needs to get out from the counter or she needs to be trained for better service!

I looked all over for a bakery to make a cake for my daughter’s baby luau. When I came into Leilani Bakery, they were so helpful and polite. I showed them a photo of the cake I wanted and they did not hesitate to recreate it. They gave me a reasonable price and delivered on time. I would definitely recommend them to make a wedding or birthday cake. Here is a link to a photo of the cake:

When I entered this bakery I was happy to see that they had 8″ guava and lilikoi cakes. I always enjoy both flavors of their cakes and wanted to buy one for dessert tonight. But first I had gotten my daughter her pastry. The lady who helped us seemed annoyed that I had only gotten one pastry and it seemed liked she just wanted us out of there. So they lost my sale in getting one of their yummy cakes. The pastry was nothing special.

Great little bakery if you get there early enough. When we went in is was full of locals and their product was going fast. We really enjoyed the coconut crème filled donut? The crème was really good and the dough was amazing so soft and melted in your mouth.

Pretty good. I wasn’t amazed or anything, but they make a good malasada. If you are nearby they are worth stopping in(I wouldn’t make a pilgrimage is my point). Service was good. Easy to find in the same shopping center as the McDonald’s.

This place gave me my first taste of malasadas. Tasty stuff and not too expensive for a doughnut or a pastry. It’s a sleepy little shop, or it was the day we were in, but it is worth a visit if you are in the area.

We were on a mission for a bakery with a good variety of sweets. We stopped on the way to Waipi’o Valley. They had a basic variety of cookies, muffins, pies, and donuts. I wish they had more variety. What I chose, a glazed donut and ham/cheese bun. They were very good and well made, but wouldn’t go out of my way to go again.
