Strength Beyond Fitness Center

Was definitely pressured into signing a 36 month contract. The guy there said I could cancel at anytime if I didn’t like the gym. He neglected to tell me that you have to pay 75% of your remaining balance if you cancel. So you have an option to try the gym for free for a month or lock in a long term membership. They really really try to get you to sign up.
I’m moving to the east side of the state in a few months and it looks like this is going to collections. DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM.

Older equipment, impossible to get out of 3 year contracts, very pushy management, more expensive than other gyms. Not nearly as clean as other gyms I’ve been to and I always feel uncomfortable there. They do have some pretty nice trainers, but over all I would avoid this gym unless strength training and fitness is your life. Not for the casual exerciser.

First off when you are asked to sign a contract, and state you want to speak to your spouse and are told no, you have to sign now… THERE IS A HUGE PROBLEM.
The technique used to sign you up is ridiculous. Now not even 24hrs later they say they can not break the contract. Even going so far as to say too bad.
Definite horrible management skills. And even worse customer service skills.
Meat heads on roids most likely. And if there is any truth to the Melissa P. statement «a rumor I heard at there old location on East Main that someone had gotten worms from unclean workout equipment» it would explain why they are refusing to let people out of a contract!
Makes you wonder huh!

When I first went in to check this gym out, I asked the manager to show me around so I could get a feel for the environment. I wasn’t impressed. The gym was very dirty and they had a lot of old equipment. I also started to recollect a rumor I heard at there old location on East Main that someone had gotten worms from unclean workout equipment. As he showed me around I was immediately stared at by every meat head in the place. I immediately felt uncomfortable. After the crappy tour the manager, also rumored to be a steroid freak and abusive, walked me over to a make shift cubicle and proceeded to start me off on a membership plan not even asking me what I thought about the place. I told him I would have to think about it and his persona changed immediately and he basically told me to get out.
I have also had friends and co-​workers who tried to leave the gym because of being disgusted and stared at the entire time they worked out, but found it impossible to break there contract.
All in all, this gym is gross. Be carful of their membership fees and extensive contracts. Seek out another gym.

This gym has older machines. With that being said. It’s very nice and clean. The staff is friendly and informative. They have some unique machines. Glad I gave this place a shot
