Yamas is always fresh and delicious. The staff is awesome and very nice. I’ve never had a bad meal. I have eaten there over a dozen times in less than a year. I highly recommend it to everyone. Tip well and they will remember you and hook you up. My favorite dessert was the pita sunrise or tiramisu. Enjoy!

Great place for a nice evening meal. They have gyros that are amazing. Lots of parking and usually lots of tables. Try the mousaka which is one of their specials. I would give them 4 stars but minus one for cash only.

Apparently, this was my second time here. I almost have zero memory of that first visit. The only thing I remember is being at that shopping center and inside the restaurant. That gives you an indication of how memorable this place is. This is small little quaint place. When you enter, you’ll see columns and arches, hanging plants, and random erotic paintings and artwork along the walls. Though, disappointingly, you don’t get the classic Greek blue here. But it still sets a nice, bright ambiance. The major plus with this place is it’s BYOB with no corkage and glasses are provided. That’s pretty much it. For appetizers we ordered: –Stuffed Sweet Peppers — Mini yellow and red peppers stuffed with a feta cheese and shallots mixture that somehow became pink. The color of the stuffing threw me off. It also came with cold pita, chewy pita bread. –Merguez Sausage — Also served with cold pita bread. You could taste the fennel and the cumin, but the slices were too thin to really taste the meat and anything else. A spicy sauce came with it, which was watery and bland. –Greek Fries — The fries were thin, and not fried very well. The best part is the Feta dip(for an additional $ 2), and it went well with the other appetizers with their accompanying sauces. For my main, I ordered the Lamb Shank — I was expecting a lamb shank on a bed of basmati rice with sauteed vegetables served on a PLATE, as it was described on the menu. Instead, I received a humongous bowl with a giant piece of lamb shank in a stew of large cut potatoes and carrots on a huge bed of basmati rice. After letting this immense bowl of food cool down, I was pretty disappointed with the taste. It tasted exactly like any typical beef stew you find at a fast food, plate lunch joint, but more bland. The lamb shank was big, and did fall off the bone, but the meat was still a bit tougher than what I prefer. I came here on a Saturday, and the special is per the chef, so I guess this is what the chef whipped up with the left over lamb shanks from the Thursday special? You have failed. Try again. The food wasn’t anything special because it lacked the freshness and brightness you typically associate with Greek food. Everything seemed muddled. Probably ordered the wrong things? Other than the feta dip, the sauces were terrible. A plate of Greek Olive Oil would’ve been much better. The lamb was very disappointing, and I didn’t appreciate all the colder than room temperature pita bread. The service was okay. It was a bit slow and attentiveness was lacking. Though, I appreciate our server being clear, detailed, and thorough about… everything, including how you can get a free appetizer if you show your Unilocal review of this place. Hmmm, does that include reviews with average and below average ratings??? Overall, the food and service were average, but the prices were inexpensive and it’s BYOB with no corkage. I can’t say I’d recommend this place, but to be honest, there just isn’t many places to choose from on Oahu.

What a let down. I was hoping my experience at this Fat Greek would be different from the one at their other location off Waialae. I was wrong. Our waitress was friendly and approached our table in a timely manner. I asked for a fountain drink– it was flat. I sent it back. Then she came back with a canned drink and a glass filled with ice halfway– the ice was melted. Our food took a long time to come out. We were one out of two tables. We got the gyro. Can’t mess that up. Our food tasted OK. The interior could use a face lift already and what’s with the kinky wall art? You’d have to go in there to see what I’m talking about. I wouldn’t come back though based on the wait time and high prices alone.
