Finally entered a new chapter in my life, transitioning from a fast paced career to a volunteerism and involvement in the community. I have selected the Kailua Elks Lodge, as my path to charitable organizations. This is one of those secretive organizations, laced with history and ceremonial practices. It sounds scary and exclusive, but the club has«loosened» it’s membership policies to allow a broader range of participants. Enter into the lodge, requires sponsorship from a member in good standing. In my case, meeting a few nice members, who share the same values(patriotism, family, and charity). They have at least 4 social activities per month, including breadfast buffets, super bowl parties, and bingo night. The Elks are known to be involved in community events, and are very strong supports of speech therapy issues in Hawaii. Their generous charitable donations are also well known throughout the country. There are three lodges on Oahu: Pearl City, Kailua, and the Honolulu lodge, which is located in Waikiki(next to the Outrigger club). Kailua Elks members are allowed access to all lodges throughout the country.
