Unfortunately I’ve had to spend a lot of time at CMC being a caregiver for elderly my grandparents, but at least this is one hospital where the food doesn’t suck. It’s a Seventh Day Adventist hospital, so unless you’re admitted, don’t expect any meat. You won’t miss it though! Their bistro cart makes rounds with snacks, sandwiches, and coffee throughout the hospital too! Highlights: Onion rings — some of the best I’ve had. Ever. Museli — cold oats with fruit in the refrigerator, get it early before it’s gone. Fozen Soft Serve — no explanation needed! Soups — easy to grab and go. Daily Specials — I’ve had taco salad, phở, veggie lasagna, and more for the daily special. All very good!

They have«Phở» bar on Thursdays. You can choose variety of toppings which are all vegetables and fried tofu. I put everything. Soup(broth) was amazing! So tasty. I am not a big fan of Phở because of beefy taste, but I’m a big fan of Phở @this place. I had«Muesli» for breakfast. $ 2.50. This is the tastiest muesli I’ve ever had. Toppings are lots of fresh blueberries, raspberries, and small pieces of apples. So reasonable price. Thank you for being all vegetarian cafeteria. «Bistro Express» is pretty neat! It is basically a food cart go around inside of hospitals which carries fresh brewed Starbucks coffee, sandwiches, breakfast burritos, fresh fruits cup, muesli, and more. You will find it in the hallway. I accidentally found it in front of the nurse station at one of the inpatient unit around 2pm. She carried FRESHBAKEDCOOKIES; white chocolate & macadamia, chocolate chips, and oatmeal raisin. They were really goooooood!

Most hospital food seems to be made to give you health problems so that you stay in the hospital. Not so with the Bistro! Good, healthy food at reasonable prices, and with a good selection.

Watch out for the omnipresent cashier, a middle age woman with a sour curt demeanor. She consistently overcharges certain individuals from repeated observations ever since she started working there. the quality and creativity of the food has drastically decline. The workers are getting slobbier with each visit. Who ever is in charge needs to take hold of this situation since such needed nourishment is vital in such a facility. A person’s best bet is buying the fresh fruit, refrigerated items and the salad bar. They still serve the best fresh fruit salad with outrageously generous portions. My salad yesterday had enormous halves of kiwis.

It’s an all vegetarian cafeteria. At times this place has some really fantastic dishes, but not always. That’s part of the awesomeness, there is always some variety with the main entrees. If the entrée sucks, there is always the salid-bar and grill where you can find something decent. I eat here several times a week because it’s close to work. It’s kinda weird at first since it’s a hospital, but it’s shockingly good for hospital food. Anyone can eat here. Prices are pretty good if you don’t get too much variety. Everything is priced by the serving, so it can add up if you get a little of everything. The trick is to get one big scoop of something and it comes out super reasonable. Also, I love that they are constantly improving and innovating. The experiment a lot with new dishes. Over the past couple years I’ve seen them add flavored complementary water, redo the salid-bar setup, start accepting credit cards, and start to push being green with biodegradable silverware and reusable water cups. Very impressed. Also, the name of the place has been changed to The Bistro, at Castle Medical Center.
