Kay’s Kitchen

I would definitely not patronize Kay’s again. This place is inside a small local market. There are no seats. Everything is to-​go.
I placed an order for the Mahi Mahi plate, Korean chicken, Teri beef burger, Teri chicken burger, and a Kalbi plate.
When I placed the order for the Mahi Mahi plate, the order taker told me that it’s going to be $ 15. The menu clearly states $ 13.50, but she insisted that I shall pay the extra $ 15 if I wanted Mahi Mahi today. Whatever… I don’t get confrontational over $ 1.50.
Instead of the Kalbi plate I got a plate that had Mahi Mahi and some fried Calamari… wtf, man! I pointed out that they made a mistake on the order, and I was told that they ran out of Kalbi beef and shrimp.
The Korean chicken had no sauce! So I was wondering what made this Korean. Maybe the sesame they sprinkled on top???

The Teri beef burger and the Teri Chicken burger was not better than anything on a McDonald’s menu. The meats on these two items were tough and flavorless.

Mostly take out with few tables, but everything is always good. A great little local place.

Great local plate lunch. The salad is always super fresh and they are nice and fast!

This is a take out kitchen in Matsuyama’s up mauka before Palisades and Kona Highlands. Great plate lunches. Best Korean chicken in Kona. Never had a bad meal here. Oh and hamburger delicious and especially the fries, they are really crispy!

We stopped in on the way to Hilo not knowing its the last place that serves food before that long 2 hour drive. I ordered a chicken breast w/​aioli sauce and French fries, it was really good and if ever I am in Kona again, I will definitely stop in to try out another dish. The only thing was that it took a little long, but I think they were actually about to close so my bad. Despite the wait, I will make sure to stop in again for something to grind!
